Here's a good idea for a TV show....let's spend the first half seeing the commission of a criminal act, the police investigating it, and eventually arresting a suspect...then the second half of the show is concerned with everything that goes into the trial and prosecution of that suspect.
What....you say this is the show called LAW AND ORDER?
No....it's the 1963 TV series ARREST AND TRIAL http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056737/
I found a boxset DVD of 9 episodes of the series this weekend at a local used book/DVD store. Figured what could it hurt, and picked it up. I've watched 4 of the episodes so far, and I really like it.
It was a 90 minute series when originally shown...with the commercials cut out an episode still turns in at an hour and 20 minutes (there were a lot less commercials in the good old days). And the main difference between it and LAO is that after the arrest, the courtroom section focuses on the defense attorney trying to get the suspects off.
It stars BEN GAZZARA and ROGER PERRY as the detectives and CHUCK CONNORS and DON GALLOWAY as the lawyers.
One of the fun things about watching old shows like this are the guest stars....like in one episode where MARTIN SHEEN plays a teenage juvenile delinquent.
It's an interesting show with lots of character development and drama. I recommend people take a look if given the chance.
