0.7 rating for the premiere.

That ties a series low.

I would expect the ratings drop off is from people fed up with last season the show like I was. I'm gonna hold off watching this show week to week until after mid-season so I can gauge whether the show has really gotten back to season 1/2 quality, and is consistent again. Way too many times have I seen shows start with a great premiere, but dip into mediocrity by the time you get to the halfway point. The last season of walking dead was same way for me.

Hopefully Arrow stays a killer throughout the season, I missed that aspect of the character.

i wouldnt be surprised if some of the dropoff might also be related to the network switch, some people might not know where to find it.

regardless Church is kind of a lame villain, i really hope hes not the main villain for this season. not sure why they didn't get someone who was a bit more in shape. its hard for me to take him seriously when hes fighting Green arrow and hes got a beer gut.

I really disliked literally all of season 4, but I really enjoyed this episode.

A step in the good direction if you ask me. Finally he kills again, hope that keeps up. I was done with the 'no-killing-is-better' policy.

Prometheus will be Arrow's main adversary. Church is the street level villain. In the final trailer Prometheus threatened Church that Green Arrow was his.

Overall I enjoyed this premier. I'm really holding out hope that we're back to seasons 1 & 2 storytelling. But to all the people praising the action sequences: are you serious? This had to be some of the *worst* fight choreography I've seen on this show yet. From the glaringly obvious stage punches to the physics-defying body-tossing... just, ugh. Terrible. During Oliver's fight with the Russians, I thought, "Oh, they missed that one in editing," but then it was just one right after another. It was like watching the 60s version of Batman. All that was missing was BOFF and ZOINK word bubbles.

Man that was a great season premiere, that's the best Arrow episode I've watched in ages that wasn't a crossover. Felt like they went back to basics and they didn't rush the storyline.

All in all a solid 8/10

Edit: now maybe I missed something but who was the guy with Felicity at the end? Or do we not know yet?

I think it's a new character.

That statue was awful, but I'm glad that's the only bad thing I could think of from the premiere.

Oh I see. Thanks.

Do you think it's too obvious for him to be Prometheus?

...oh, crap, you're right. That IS the sort of obvious twist I'd expect from Arrow at this point, like Sebastian Blood working with Slade, even though that one was obvious. I hope that's not the case here.

It was obvious that Blood was a villain, not that he was working for Slade. Apologies if that is what you meant.

Yeah, that's what I'm going for. I'm more thinking back to when Laurel told Oliver that Blood was working with Slade, and it felt like it was meant to be this big revelation for him, but it was pretty obvious from some telltale signs that something was off about him.

Also, I might be wrong about Felicity's new guy friend as well. Was he one of the cops?

Yeah, we learnt in the first few episodes that he was a villain when we saw him put on the skull mask. Slade being alive in the present day and the fact that he was in Starling was the big surprise. Laurel was always suspicious of Blood though.

I am not sure if he was a cop. I still haven't seen the episode lol. I am looking forward to it.

That's the new Detective. John Ritter's son Tyler.

LOL wrong show, thats Supergirl

So is the season premiere of Arrow supposed to have happened after Flashpoint? Or during?

In this Arrow article here it suggests that several things in this upcoming season will be affected by Flashpoint:

http://www.tvguide.com/news/arrow-season-5-spoilers-oliver-queen/?ftag=TVG_Twitter

But as far as I could see, during the premiere, everything looked as normal and as it would be if it just followed on from the Season 4 finale. So has the show not been affected yet?

I imagine it happens after Flashpoint?

Flashpoint seemed to end at the same place it started - Barry's still talking with Joe after Henry's death, even when he comes back.

Yeah, but

does Arrow season 5 episode 1 happen before Barry gets Reverse Flash to go back in time to kill his mother and before he ends up talking with Joe after Henry's death, or does it happen after that?

If, during "Legacy", Barry hasn't reset Flashpoint yet, then it could explain why things seem to look exactly the same at the moment.

Ah, ok. Didn't understand what you meant.

It's all retroactive stuff so I guess they can put the "change" whereever/whenever they want. Perhaps they set the episodes on the old timeline until the 100th?

When you make your main character a support and unofficially have the show renamed to Felicity and friends, *then* kill off the supposedly original love interest *and* make her a goddamned felicity fan, I'm going to have problems with caring about you continuing.

I'm only coming back if they make Oliver, Oliver again, and not Felicities sidekick, and somehow bring back Laurel as the LI, because screw Felicity.

BTW, I forgot to mention that Thea's legs looked great in this episode. It was nice of her to show them off at the unveiling of the statue.

Yeah, I mean that was an unusually short hemline of the skirt Thea was wearing, not that I'm complaining. :oldrazz:

Willa Holland should have her legs out in every episode.

What happened to John Barrowman? How come he's not part of the regular cast anymore? I can't remember what happened to Malcolm Merlyn at the end of last season.
