Here's some (pre) production artwork from X-Men Origins Wolverine! Since there are no plans to release an Art Of book this is as close as we'll get until the dvd hits. I found these on the official blogs of Phillip Boutte Jr. and Jerad S Marantz (notes with details are below the art).

Higher res versions are available at the links provided.

Here are a few working sketches from Wolverine. Some look the same in the movie, whereas others do not. (Deadpool) I liked this version of Deadpool and wish it had made it into the movie but it was very early on in development and the character's face had to be seen....enjoy.

Here is some work I did on the movie. Beak was a character that was intended to be in the movie but he was cut.

Why the hell wouldn't they allow Deadpool to look like that? Both the first sketch and the Weapon 11 would've been better than what we saw in the film.:csad: Either way, great find, and it's interesting to see what this film would've looked like before Fox got their hands on it.

Wish Beak would've made it into the film. Would have been interesting. Not totally feeling the first "Deadpool" sketch, although it would have been a better nod at the comic book attire.

Great find, Retro

weapon 11 looks more like a resident evil bad guy not deadpool but cool

Seeing the original design for wade, im actually content with Deadpoop. That makes him look like Zartan

Hell, even concept art looks better than the movie. And that Beak.. sick :hehe: Reminds me a bit of the yellow bastard, though

Yes it is. Hopefully more will turn up.

Thanks!

I like his solution for the mask since he had to show character's face while at the same make it look somewhat like comic Deadpool.
Thanks alot, Retro!

You're welcome.:yay:

Don't know what the resident evil baddie looks like but when i look at the other concepts i thought right away of Kronen from Hellboy without his armor.

Cool finds, Retro! Those creature designs are almost Hellboy-esque.

No problem.

Looking at it again i'm just noticing the D on his belt buckle.:o

Yeah i wish beak's design would have been in the film

Yep. ADI officially sucks ass. **** those guys. But Alec and Tom are pretty cool....

Yeah...but I like their enthusiasm. :o

They didnt draw those horrible pictures.

^^To be fair to the artists, these probably are only a sampling of a multitude of designs they went through before the final look was approved .

From what i've read here it seems the dvd does not pay a lot of attention to the production design and art direction of X-Men Origins. Which is kind of a shame.

Here are some concepts that were done by Dale Mackie, Dean Sherriff and some storyboards by Tim Burgard.

Unless i'm forgetting something i don't recall this headless scene in the movie. Wonder what it was about? Another of Stryker's experiments?

Was Paul Giamatti a candidate to play the Blob?

On designer/artist Scott Patton's site i came across a cool design that seems to suggest that he was been considerd for the role. Patton also dreamed up designs of Beak and a rather obscure X-Men character called Barbarus - both of which were in an earlier draft of the Wolverine script. It looks like he created these at Stan Winston Studios (now Legacy Effects) in a bid to land work on the movie.

The Wade concept is pretty cool, apart from the face paint. He even has the Deadpool belt buckle!
