Based on the first trailer and and comic-con footage descriptions, how good do you expect ASM will be?

Right under, or just as good as X-Men: First Class. Which is very good.

Despite my wish that we had a Spider-Man 4 instead of a reboot and wishing they'd skipped the origin even if it was going to be a reboot, I'm cautiously optimistic about this. AG will become Peter Parker on the screen, Emma Stone was a golden choice for Gwen Stacy, we'll get to see the history of the Parker family, we'll see the Lizard brought to life for the first time. It has a lot going for it. I don't understand how anyone can be pessimistic.

Aside from a few concerns, I'm all for the film and can't wait to finally watch it. The next 11 months will be really fun with all new trailers and photos coming up!

BTW, I guess we should have a poll in this thread.

I think it'll be slightly better than SM3, but worse than SM1 and 2.

How good do I expect it to be?

Not.

Some of the answers here are confusing me.

We do realize that the thread is what you THINK the movie will be like...not what you WANT it to be like.

Some of these answers are waaay too peppy since all we have is one teaser trailer.

I do understand it's pretty early. Then again, we have 15+ photos, teaser (as you've already mentioned), a detailed description of the footage from Comic-Con and, finally, leaked photos of the Lizard.

There's really nothing much about the story and more trailers are soon to come. But the thread is important anyway. It's kind of a hype indicator.

I have no expectations. Better to go in with no expectations that go in with high expectations.

I will have high expectations for the next film if this one can deliver.

Too early to tell, tbh. It's my most hyped film of next year, but it really is too early to tell.

Most of us have read the comic-con footage descriptions too.

It only instilled higher expectations for alot of fans.

This thread isn't for final judgements, it's only to gauge early expectations.

My expectations is that this is going to deliver and is going to work. It's going to be the favorite of many.

I hope. I just have this feeling. Some months ago, I didn't even care about the movie, though...until I saw the first official pic.

To add to my post, the Avengers comes in at a VERY VERY close second. However, since it's Spidey, it is my most hyped.

I'm excited for The Avengers only because it's one of THE most ambitious movies ever attempted and I NEED to see how they make it work. I'm not a fan of Josh Weadon's work which really makes it hard to be hyped for it, but the idea, and like I said before, the pure ambition behind it is enough to have me marking the days till the movie.

No idea. All I've seen is a teaser that gave a tone that may not be accurate and barely showed any of the movie beyond the generic origin points.

It's pretty cool six people have seen the whole movie already on this site.

I mean this sincerely: the Avengers better be 3 1/2 hours long, because otherwise, I can't see it working... sorry, off topic.

My expectations are hopeful. But I felt burned by the last trilogy to be honest, and so I'm scared of how this will turn out. But the more I see, the more I believe, which is a very good thing.

Yep I saw that it leaked online, but I decided to wait until July 3rd to watch it. Like a good fan.

But everyone loved the ComicCon footage of Spider-Man 3. The reaction to that was crazy. Everyone was stoked at ComicCon for that footage. They were screaming and tearing each other's limbs apart to have more hands to clap with.

I'm extremely excited for the Avengers because it's always been a dream movie of mine. I grew up reading mainly Marvel comics and I always thought "Imagine if this was a movie?"

3 and a half hours? Geez, that is a long-ass movie. I don't think they need to, personally. They already have all the heroes (sans Hawkeye) established. They really don't need to do anything, but make it fun and well-paced. No need for origins or explainations since most people going into The Avengers probably went into Thor and Cap and Iron Man 1+2.
