Assassination Attempt At Phoenix Comicon

The guy is off his rocker, normally those are the types that do something traumatic and horrible. Delusions of past feuds with JDF and thinking he's a real life Punisher will land him in a padded cell on heavy medication and therapy.

So true.

I was at PHXCC for the full event. I had no idea what happened until my girlfriend texted me from Utah a few hours later asking if I was ok. Luckily a combination of that *******s stupidity and the police doing their job prevented disaster. I think PHXCC overreacted the next day. The line to get in was madness. They were doing security pat downs and checks on everyone. Eventually they separated it out and let anyone without a bag go through with a quick metal detecting wand once over.

The real casualty was the Light Saber sales booth. They apparently wouldn't follow the new prop rules and weren't wrapping their light sabers properly after the sale and after they were confronted about it they got belligerent. PHXCC pulled their booth. There was a big ass empty spot in the middle of the exhibitors hall.

Is there really such a thing as an overreaction the day after a guy walks into a convention center armed to the teeth looking to kill a fellow attendant...?

I take issue with the loose usage of the word assassination here. Assassination indicates a certain degree of importance of the target, usually associated with a political leader, the head of some sort of social or economic movement, even just someone of general prominence.

Is a washed up actor from a kid's show really assassination worthy? If anything this is just run of the mill attempted murder. :o

Try and get hits on clickbait articles with "Run of the mill murder attempt thwarted at Comic Con" :o

Actually, that would be better clickbait; anti-sensationalism. Kind of like, "Lazy terrorist pushes kids at Chuck E Cheese."

Oh my god :funny: :funny:

This is the kind of media I can get behind.

Hmm, bold strategy...Like meta-ironic humor, only even more deadpan, like The Onion headlines only better.

"Day goes by as normal, with nothing of actual material significance to report".

That's part of why I didn't go when I got the email.

It's a debatable point. What are the odds of it happening again the next day or weekend?

"Trump crisis management team plays poker while on duty, dealer forgets to take the Jokers out of the deck and the game has to restart".

I don't know, what were the odds on it ever happening? In a video where he talks about it the green ranger dude mentions he's had people cosplaying characters with guns come up to him and show him real life firearms several times before. Live weapons shouldn't be allowed and security at these things clearly needs an overhaul.

I guess not everyone with a gun is a nut. They def shouldnt be at a comicon. Lots of Guns n' God type people out here.

Banning lightsaber props. : funny: Are they afraid the manufacturer of toy lightsabers is hiding real sabers in the plastic hilts?

It is when nobody got hurt and the dude in question was caught planning his day sitting on a bench reading the convention program. Guy is just deranged. I think that the security they had on Saturday and Sunday was appropriate. What they did Friday was horse****. The lines were so bad they had to shut down the nearest train platform because of congestion and people were fainting from the sun.
