Sequels Assuming they make any more...

Ahem, The Sentinels?!

And not some stupid looking robots armed with cure weapons. I'm talking, true to the comics.

sentinels yes....also, i want to see the purifiers attack the mansion ans crucify the students

I don't think I really want to see giant robots in an X-Men movie; that's just too out there. If I wanna see killer robots, I've got Terminator for that. If I want to see giant robots, there's Transformers.

they dont have to be giant humanoid robots...theirs always the sentinel crawlers...and those wierd flying drone things from the x-men legends game. i personally think if your gonna do it, do it right...just saying there are options

Would if you only saw The Sentinels in said X-Men film for only about 15 minutes? As they wouldn't be the TOTAL focal point to the film, just the backdrop to a possible future, if certain events were allowed to unfold.

*cough* Bishop *cough*

I absolutely want to see sentinels. They don't have to be monstrous, but I do want to see them in an X-Men movie. They're a staple of the X-Men mythos. If I can accept that a man can convert his body to organic steel or that a woman can warp weather patterns with the blink of an eye, then I can accept robots intercepting individuals that might be too dangerous for otherwise powerless soldiers. If they can make something as goofy as Cerebro work, they can make sentinels work.

And with all of that being said, how long would they have to be on screen in an X-Men movie, in order for you to be content?

10-15 mins?
15+ mins?

Precisely. I can see it working. Firstly, it's not too 'out there' or blatantly sci fi (since the previous movies weren't particularly sci fi either). Secondly, it really drives home the human-mutant conflict theme which haven't really been visited in the movie. Finally, they possess plenty of fodder minions, paving the way for plenty of action scenes.

Bishop. More shades of Terminator. I was never crazy about his storyline.

Was it way too much like the Terminator for you?

From what I have read on this forum, it seems most of the fans, are open to *new* ideas, so long as the core idea of what the X-Men are all about, is kep in tact.

15+ minutes or whatever is necessary for a main antagonist. I think sentinels would make for fantastic opponents. They are visually impressive. Also, sentinels allow the X-Men to cut loose without being overly violent. By that, I mean Cyclops could blow a sentinel to pieces or Wolverine could cut his way through a sentinel without the hesitation or restrictions that would be present if they were fighting human opponents. I would like to see sentinels in a reboot though. It seems a waste to have them without the likes of Cyclops, Wolverine, and other characters present.

Also, to stay on topic, I think sentinels are non-mutant opponents whose backstory doesn't need to be altered to explain their existence in the X-Men films.

Do you think a "reboot" is even possible? I mean, bringing Cyclops back to life, would make the events that transpired in X-3 null and void.

Eventually. After the spin-offs, what else is there to look forward to? According to Donner’s latest interview in SFX, there hasn’t been talk of an X-Men 4 and she doesn’t think there is going to be one. Why would there be? Assuming X-Men Origins: Wolverine does well, there will surely be sequels. Also, there is talk of a Magneto spin-off and/or X-Men: First Class. There may even be sequels to those spin-offs. After that, a sequel to The Last Stand seems fairly irrelevant, so why not a reboot? I suppose it may be difficult, given the nature of First Class (assuming that isn’t a reboot of sorts itself), but I don’t see why a reboot wouldn’t be possible.

I mean, bringing Cyclops back to life, would make the events that transpired in X-3 null and void.

I assume you’re referring to bringing Cyclops back to life in a potential X-Men 4? Personally, I don’t want to see a sequel to The Last Stand. Resurrecting Cyclops doesn’t alleviate the movie’s other problems that need to be addressed in a direct sequel. After six or seven years of no sequel, I would rather they start fresh than revisit the hurdles left by an otherwise complete trilogy.

I assume you’re referring to bringing Cyclops back to life in a potential X-Men 4?

Nope, he is quite dead (regretfully) in my mind. It's a shame too, as now Mr. Sinister's character (right hand man of Apocalypse) is now in limbo. Unless, they include 'past events' into his obsession over Grey/Summers.

(As I do believe an X-Men 4 will one day be realized, rather it be my script centering around a revamped, 'Days of Future Past'

Personally, I don’t want to see a sequel to The Last Stand.

Would if the idea behind the X-Men 4 script was undeniably, really good?

I mean, FOX might be saying, "We only want to do Origins films, and We have no intention of making a 4th X-Men film." (as I learned about in my phone conversation with Marvel this past year) but if they knew another X-Men film had the abiliy to be a blockbuster in the box office, they change their tune rather quickly.

Anyways, if they do make an X-Men 4, what is one thing that would have to be in it, in order for you to have an interest, in actually paying to see it in theaters?

Honestly, at this point, I don’t think there is any one thing that could sell me on X-Men 4. It would have to be a combination of things—script, director, etc.

i just hope i get to see these characters

I agree, if only for the special effects and potential for fight scenes. That said, be prepared for some alterations to the characters, especially with regards to Dust. Somehow, I don't think a burqa-wearing (I mean, abaya) female mutant who is also a devout Muslim will go down well with the overly PC PTB. Expect at the very least for her religion to be downplayed and the niqab/headscarf not to make it if she appears.

or they will just not talk about her religion, and make her burqa way too form fitting like they do in some of her comic appearences.

anyway, heres my thoughts for x-4...its 2 years since alccatraz, most of the effects of the cure have worn off. storm and the others are training some new members (magma, surge, dust, hellion, rockslide) the president is dedicating a new monument to the fallen soldiers from the alcatraz battle. Bolivar trask is trying to reinstate the mutant registration act. Reverend matthew risemen is the leader of a fast growing anti mutant religous group "the church of humanity". trask is given info that once belonged to his mentor william stryker. soon, the alcatraz monument as well as other landmarks are being attacked by people claiming to be the "new brotherhood". Trask tries to get the president to approve an anti mutant policing force made up of "sentinels". the purifiers attack the mansion, killing many students and crucifying others. the x-men and the others move to muir island. we find that the new brotherhood was infact Riseman and his purifiers who had been working for trask. magma (who was crucified but lived) is unconscious in the hospital. a young mutant with a healing touch tries to heal her. when she wakes, she blows up the hospital. the media twists it as another mutant attack. the hospital "attack" is the last straw, the president approves the sentinels. Trask, who had already assembled some sentinels despite the presidents early reluctance, unleashes his sentinels on muir island where the x-men (and the students) are staying. a huge battle insues. the movie ends with the x-men having defeated the sentinel attack, but only after loosing even more students. the president declares marshal law, placing all mutants under arrest. he also announces a full scale sentinel operation to begin immediatley. now all mutants are being hunted, the x-men's spirits are shattared. this leaves the door wide open for a 5th film to further explore the mutant-fugitive story. perhaps the x-men disband?

of course thats just the main story, there would have to be other sub plots and stuff...you get he jist of it though ;)

I can't actually think of a non-mutants that haven't already been done that could be done. Maybe they'll bring the Shi'ar and make them...space mutants...

I hope not. What I would really like to see is the Friends Of Humanity.

The Sentinels might be included in First Class since it was in the Danger Room in X3 they might have encountered one in their past
