Stella Glow follows Alto and his quest to band the Witches of Regnant Kingdom to battle Hilda, the Witch of Destruction. Take a look at the main characters in the Nintendo 3DS game and check out some screenshots here. The key to turning the tides of battle is using the lost art of Song magic which can power up the allied witches on your side.

While Atlus USA has brought over Sega games in the past like Shiren the Wanderer for Wii and Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon for Game Boy Advance, Stella Glow is the first Sega Japan published game since Sega Sammy Holdings acquired Atlus and Index Digital Media. it will be interesting to see if Atlus USA will be able to pick up some of Sega’s other titles like Phantasy Star Nova.

Stella Glow from Sega and Imageepoch takes place in a world where witches and song magic exist. Each chapter is split into two parts, free time and tactics time where you engage in strategy RPG battles.

During free time players have a fixed amount of hours to explore Capital City Lambert. You can use this time to search for items, take jobs at the tavern to earn money or bond with your fellow knights. Free time can also be spent at the Tuning House where you can teach witches in your troop new song magic. Players can arm themselves at Bianca’s weapon shop, create items at Franz’s Workshop or save in the protagonist’s room without using any time units.

Operation time has battles to fight or event scenes that move the story forward. There are some special events players can trigger where you can bond with characters too. After both parts are complete players progress to the next chapter.

Stella Glow is scheduled to come out on June 4 in Japan. Atlus announced they will bring Stella Glow to North America later this year.

Stella Glow’s Battle System Was Made To Have A Quick And Smooth Pace. April 28, 2015 . 2:32pm

Sega are publishing Stella Glow in Japan, and they recently held a livestream to showcase all of the game’s features

[YT]VxBCRNERH04[/YT]

The video starts out with an opening trailer and an introduction to some of the key characters of Stella Glow, followed by some gameplay footage at the 1:11 mark, where it shows how you’ll set your party up and take on the strategic battlefield.

Attacking position, elemental attribute, and elevation will play a role in how much damage you dish out or take, as some of the things you’ll need to consider. At 2:00, the video shows us some of the Song Magic of Stella Glow. There are over 20 different Song Magic tracks that are sung by various popular voice actresses.

Next, we see more on the bonding “Sync System,” where you increase parameters by having conversations or spending time with other characters, which can be done to learn “Sync Skills” that are used in combat. Then, at the 3:13 mark, they show a little bit on the Orb system, which lets you slot Orbs into weapons for special skills, and can be customized to make a weapon with the skills of your preference.

The following part shows how you’ll acquire Song Magic, and it won’t be an easy task. In order to obtain it, you’ll need to dive inside the hearts of one of the witches, and take out a beast from within. After defeating the main beast, you’ll get her Song Magic, and can even awaken her goddess form.

Finally, you can get another look at the game in action starting at the 11:45 mark of the video, to get a good idea on how the battles are like. One of the main focuses for Stella Glow’s battle system was to give it a nice tempo, and not feel slow, which is demonstrated in the footage.

Stella Glow will release in Japan on June 4, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS, and will release later this year in North America.

Meet Hilda, The Witch That Cursed The World In Stella Glow. May 20, 2015 . 12:27pm

The newest screenshots and info from the Nintendo 3DS RPG.

Stella Glow makers Imageepoch have recently filed for bankruptcy, but that won’t stop the game from being released, as Sega will publish it next month. 4Gamer has shared the latest screenshots from the game, as its demo just went live in Japan.

Hilda:

“I won’t let anyone stop my song.”
Age: ?
Weapon: Scythe
Voice and singer: Yukari Tamura

The Witch of Destruction who brings the cursed song to the world.

In the Stella Glow demo, you’ll get to hear Hilda’s singing. While the song itself brings a curse to the world, they say that those who hear her singing will be charmed by it.

The above is a look at some battle scenes featuring Hilda, and her powers are said to be overwhelming, as she can easily take out enemies with little trouble.

Next is a look at some screenshots of Risette, and what appears to be one of the starting areas of the game, with a stage called “The Starting Forest”. There’s also a scene where Risette is shown asking the protagonist Alto if he remembers when was the last time they slept together in the same bed, so it looks like they’re pretty close.

Stella Glow is slated for release in Japan on June 4, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS. You can check out our earlier report for details on the game’s battle system, and how it was made to have a quick and smooth pace to it.

Stella Glow’s Song Music Gives Everyone Critical Hits Or Puts Enemies To Sleep. June 1, 2015 . 10:40pm

Stella Glow’s heroines all have powerful Song Magic that can give you an edge on the battlefield,
but you’ll need to unlock them all by going inside their hearts and defeating their beasts within.

Stella Glow’s heroines all have powerful Song Magic that can give you an edge on the battlefield, but you’ll need to unlock them all by going inside their hearts and defeating their beasts within. The latest trailers for the game demonstrates two new song magic abilities.

[YT]x8JaaSBvuvs[/YT]

Similar to what we’ve seen with the other heroines, Alto is shown going into the heart of the heroine by stabbing their chest with a special-looking knife. Don’t worry, they’ll still be fine, as it’s only a method to unlock their true powers.

The Fire Witch Sakura’s Song Magic is called “Indigo Cherry Blossom,” and when she uses it, it grants the entire party with an “Absolute Critical” effect, meaning that all of their next hits will be a 100% critical attack. Sakuya is voiced by Yui Sakakibara, who also sings the Song Magic track.
[YT]w7qS51iltT4[/YT]

The following video is for Mordimolt, who also seems to be called “Mordi” by Alto. Her Song Magic is called “Red Galaxy,” and upon its use it appears to put all the enemies on the field into a slumber, which sounds like it could come in handy in any given situation.

Mordi is a Wind Witch and is voiced by Emi Nitta, who also sings the Song Magic for the character. You can also check our earlier report to see some of the earlier Song Magic from other characters like Popo’s enemy disabling ability, and Risette’s healing track.

Stella Glow will release in Japan on June 4, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.

Stella Glow Recaps Song Magic And Other Gameplay Features.June 5, 2015 . 3:03pm

An overview of the upcoming Nintendo 3DS RPG.

Now that Stella Glow is available in Japan, 4Gamer recently put together a summary on the game’s main features, explaining more on how Song Magic works, and other activities you’ll get to do in the upcoming 3DS title.

The protagonist Alto.

The Water Witch Risette.

Hilda, the “Witch of Destruction”.

The Wind Witch PoPo.

The fire Witch Sakuya.

Alsmost done

The Earth Witch Moldimolt.

The above is a look at Claus, Rusty, and Archbolt. They’re the royal knights of Regnant, and will be there to help out Alto.

Stella Glow is split into visual novel-like communication parts and battle parts. When you’re not fighting, you’ll spend time bonding with characters, and the more you do, the more skills they’ll learn.

almost
The witches have access to powerful Song Magic, but they won’t be able to use them right away. In order to get them, they must first be “tuned”. This is done by diving inside the “Spirit World” of each witch, then defeating a monster found within. Doing so will unlock their ability to learn Song Magic.

When you’re not fighting in battles or becoming better friends with other characters, you can take on odd jobs or go exploring to find items during your free time.

From damaging all enemies to healing all allies, Song Magic is the key to winning battles, and you’ll need to learn the best way to use them in your six-man parties.

There are also skills that consume SP. These will also be valuable to have in battle. While they might not be as powerful as Song Magic, skills come in different varieties such as powerful attacks, healing magic, and more.

There are also “Orbs” that can be slotted in weapons. These have various effects such as accuracy up, poison attack, and more. You can put together a combination of different Orbs to fit your skills, too.

Song Magic itself comes in two main types. They can be used by filling up your Song Stone Gauge, which goes up by hitting enemies. The first type is a Solo, where one Witch can do different effects on allies or enemies around her. Solos don’t cost too much Song Stone, so they can be used frequently.

The second type is called the “Ensemble,” where the witch and Alto work together for a powerful magic that affects the entire field. Since it uses up a lot of the meter, the timing of when it’s used is always crucial.

Stella Glow is currently available in Japan for Nintendo 3DS.

About
As most reluctant heroes do, Stella Glow-protagonist Alto starts as a country boy in a small town. But after the chance encounter, Hilda reveals she’s the Witch of Destruction, hellbent on destroying the world with her Harbingers. As Hilda is about to destroy Alto’s hometown, he and Lisette are rescued by the Royal Knights and whisked back safely to the kingdom. Stella Glow launches November 17 in North America

Launch Edition includes poster, charm, CD, and special box.

Stella Glow will launch for 3DS in North America on November 17 at a price point of $49.99/ CA$59.99, Atlus announced.
Pre-orders and a limited number of launch day editions will include the following items in addition to the game:

  • Hilda’s Crystal Garden Cloth Poster – This is a large poster made of cloth (so it won’t permanently crease by being folded in the package!) that features the striking image of Hilda, the Witch of Destruction posing with her scythe atop a seat of crystals.
  • Bubu Flexi-Charm – Bubu is the pet pig of the Witch Popo, and hopefully by now you’ve insinuated that it’s super cute (because it is!). The charm is soft vinyl and since Bubu is such a loyal companion, the charm can be attached to whatever needs more piggy goodness. Oh, and it’s a real porker too at approximately 3″ x 3″.
  • “Song Magic” CD – This is a 5-song disc featuring the vocal themes of the five Witches. The CD will arrive in a separate sleeve featuring artwork from the Witch Tuning sequences from the game.
  • Collectible Outer Box – Similar to what we did with The Legend of Legacy, all the aforementioned premiums will be included in a large outer box. We didn’t just reuse the 3DS game cover either — the outer box is a new design featuring the protagonist, Alto, and the five Witches. Lisette on the spine of the box is a nice touch, and I once again salute our designers for putting together such a great-looking package.
A European release was previously announced for spring 2016.

Meet the strategy RPG's Witch of Destruction.

Stella-Glow-Hilda_11-04-15.jpg

Atlus has released a new trailer for Stella Glow introducing Hilda, the strategy RPG’s antagonist and Witch of Destruction.
Here’s Atlus’ description of Hilda:
It’s so tiring saving the world! You get up, motivate your Harbingers to go out and start burning down villages, and then have to use up all your precious energy to entrap those filthy humans in crystal and protect the world from the scourge of humanity!
So the bad news is that her cursed song will annihilate anyone who gets in her path. But the good news is that the combined powers of the wind, water, fire, and earth Witches can reverse the curse. Unfortunately for Alto, those Witches, and the 9th Regiment, Hilda is well aware of this and intends on destroying them all. If her cursed song magic doesn’t have you quaking in your boots, she also wields a deadly scythe and has the undying loyalty of the Harbingers.
Additionally, Atlus announced that those who purchased the digital version of Stella Glow will receive a free 3DS theme featuring Hilda and the other four Witches of Stella Glow.
Stella Glow will launch for 3DS on November 17 in North America and on March 11 in Europe.

Atlus Shows Off Stella Glow’s Hilda And Nintendo 3DS Home Theme. November 4, 2015 . 9:22pm

Atlus wants everyone to see Stella Glow’s Hilda, the Witch of Destruction,
as well as an exclusive Nintendo 3DS Home Theme that comes with Nintendo eShop purchases of the game.

[YT]Ae086nxs5eU[/YT]
Atlus made two Stella Glow announcements today. The first is an information dump on Hilda, the Witch of Destruction. The events of the game begin when she comes to Alto and Lisette’s hometown and sings her song, crystallizing all of the villagers. It’s only because of Lisette’s sudden awakening as the Water Witch and arrival of the Regnant Knights’ 9th Regiment that the two are saved.

The Hilda trailer highlights events showcased in the Stella Glow demo. Namely, there’s a brief shot of Lisette’s mother as she’s being crystallized and Hilda uses her Arched Fang attack on Alto and Lisette.

Atlus also revealed a Stella Glow digital incentive. People who purchase the game through the Nintendo eShop will receive an exclusive theme that showcases the five witches on the top screen and Bubu, Popo the Wind Witch’s pet pig, on the bottom screen. This theme can only be acquired through eShop. Those who purchase a physical copy at launch receive a soundtrack CD with five songs, a fabric poster, and Bubu PVC charm.

Stella Glow will come to the Nintendo 3DS on November 17.

Following The Flow Of Battle In Stella Glow. November 4, 2015 . 1:30pm

Stella Glow is mostly a traditional strategic RPG,
but there are a few gameplay elements that really set its battles apart.

When it comes to fighting off monsters in Stella Glow, players will find themselves in familiar territory. Much of what they’ll experience is quite similar to other strategic RPGs, especially Luminous Arc, the previous imageepoch series. A group of typically six people from a larger cast are picked to participate in a battle. They move along a grid, attacking opponents when within range. Ordinary humans have special skills to use, while witches can employ skills, magic, and song magic. Buffs and debuffs are available, positioning is important, and certain types of terrain offer defensive benefits.

One of the things that sets characters and Stella Glow apart is that allies learn new passive abilities and support effects as they level up or socialize with Alto during Free Time. As an example, at the point I’ve reached in-game, Alto has Counter, Parry, and Conductor’s Insight abilities. Counter allows him to counter any attack performed to his front or sides when an enemy is within range. Occasionally, Parry will trigger at the same time. It negates physical damage. Conductor’s Insight strengthens any witches next to Alto, which means up to four witches can be by his side and benefit from the ability. His support effect increases the odds of allies next to him doing critical damage, and as I write this that offers a 8% boost. As another example, my Lisette has acquired the Heal Boost that powers up healing spells, a Water Veil that lessens damage dealt to her, and Reduce SP Cost abilities. She also offers an 8% increase in dodging abilities as a passive support effect to friends nearby.

These combine well with improvements and added effects offered by orbs. Characters’ equipment can offer orb slots, where people can equip items that may add abilities or benefits to attacks. For example, there are orbs that may provide a chance of debuffing or afflicting a status effect on an opponent. Others could drain opponents’ health, improve odds of landing a critical hit, increase earned experience, steal, or add an element to attacks. I particularly recommend adding a status ailment orb and status ailment chance increasing chase orb to Nonoka, who eventually learns Status Ailments+ and Control Condition, two passive abilities that increase odds of infecting opponents.

The power of song is another thing that makes Stella Glow unique. Filling the Song Stone Gauge is one of the most important elements in battle, and it happens quite naturally as a person plays. Every attack causes the gauge to fill. Each witch has a one and two bar song she can use on her own to deal magical damage to enemies or provide a buff to allies. To use one of her more enduring song spells, the Song Stone Gauge has to have passed at least four and Alto must be adjacent to her and use the Conduct command on his turn. Long lasting song spells are critical during boss battles and helpful during others, so it’s best to have Alto use the Allegro skill at the start of every turn after he learns it. While in effect, the Song Stone Gauge will increase at 1.25 times the normal rate until Alto finishes four turns.

It’s also especially important because song spells are one of the few abilities that hit multiple enemies. It’s very rare to defeat an opponent in Stella Glow with one skilled attack or spell, let alone a normal attack. Ones that target multiple opponents are advised. Some of the earliest available are Alto’s Arc Slash, which hits three enemies horizontally in front of him, Rusty’s Knife Throw, which hits seven opponents horizontally and vertically in front of him, and Popo’s Song of Wind, which attacks three rows of enemies in front of her. Whittling down the health of a group makes it easier to send in weaker characters in need of experience to finish them off.

I’d advise against spending too much time chasing after experience, though. Stella Glow sometimes feels as though it discourages level grinding in additional maps. If a character’s level is too far removed from the level of his or her opponent, she won’t receive as many experience points from an attack. As an example, if my level 10 Popo were to defeat a level 11 or 12 opponent, she’d probably get around 50 experience points. Send her against an enemy that’s level 9 or 10, and she’d receive around ten or less. Such a feature keeps a person from spending too much time unnecessarily grinding, since battles on the world map tend to keep enemies at specific levels, but it also means it takes more time for people who like to over-prepare to be ready.

This also means that people may want to be cautious when spending Play Coins on some battles. Each of these matches has an advised level. If your party is above the suggestion, you won’t get enough experience from the match for it to be worth the expenditure.

Nintendo 3DS owners will be able to pick up Stella Glow from stores and the Nintendo eShop on November 17.
