It's such a disadvantage from all areas of transport/combat/etc to NOT be able to fly..... why are all Autobots land based? Is it because the protoforms didn't land next to a Jet dealership? :woot:

PS: I'm not sure if it belongs in this forum, but this is where the most traffic is so if this thread is in the wrong place, can the mods please leave this here for a few hours so I can get some replies? :)

That's kinda the way it was in the G1 cartoon, at least for season 1 anyway. I guess it just makes them feel more like the underdogs, so you route for them more, when they win.

it's all speculation, but the decepticons all seemed to be going for miltary vehicles, makes it seem like they've been here for awhile, and took time to think about what would be at their most advantage.

When the autobots arrived, they kinda grabbed the first things they saw, that they could use.

yea i figured the G1 thing had to do with it

wow VERY nice

never thought about this

could very well be true

My guess would be, at least the way the film seems to go to me, that the decepticons had more time on earth to carefully seek out some of the better vehicles to change into from a tactical sense.

The autobots seemed in a bit more of a hurry to just get here and get an "identity" to keep hidden.

Edit: It would seem Syncos and I agree ;)

i just felt really bad for the autobots sometimes

especially seeing starscream absolutely demolish those f22s

i was like 'damn, autobots could get CREAMED so easily'

actually it makes sense. it's because of their character. Decepticons are more agressive, voilent, like fighting. So they PICK / GENERAL into flying object.

Hence, Autobots have mild character, like piece ... my english is bad, but I think you know what I mean. :)

very good points, even with bad english! :woot:

You don't need to worry about that. They are the same, they are all from Cybertron, made of the same kind stuff, same kind of weapon. It's just a way of moving that is different, Autobots are not gonna get killed by Decepticons just because they can not fly, that's rediculous. They win because of their weapon and fighting skills.

Autobots are only cars whil the D can be anything..
its in their names..

Autobots and Decepticons

some good points but i have to disagree a little bit

if you take the form of a semi (optimus prime), only weapons you have are the cybertronian ones!

but if you take the form of a jet, you have missiles + bullets + cybertronian weapons!

I will agree on the underdog aspect of it. Seems the auto bots just want to blend in. The Decepticons just want to kill, they don't really care.

The Autobots have their fair share of flyers, they just aren't as widely known as some of the Decepticons. You've got Fireflight, Air Raid, Jetfire, Strafe, Powerglide, Silverbolt, Slingshot, Skydive, Scattershot, Dogfight, Eagle Eye and I'm sure there are a couple of others I'm missing, but they aren't as short on air forces as most people think.

This is also true, however.

It's because the Autobots transform to blend in
The Decepticons transform into things they can use at an aadvantag, which is why they change into military vehicles, for the most part
IE
SS blending in with the F-22
Blackout arriving at the base as one of their own vehicles
Barricade being a cop car so Sam will come to him so easily
Decepticons want to do sneak attacks to get what they want, which makes them more threatening

Autobots changed into alt forms for the sole purpose of blending in

kind of true, except for Barricade, I don't even see him using his cybertron weapon. But, most of them are military vehicles while none of autobots are military stuff.

this just remind me of something else, from the movie I don't really see how strong/advanced the cybertron technology is (except for they can transform). The earth weapon seems to be strong enough as well. But they have made the all spark thing convincing enough, that stuff is indeed powerful.

Interestingly, in G1 most of the Decepticons can fly, even in in robot mode. Autobots couldn't do the same.

Did you miss the opening scene?

Blackout single handedly owning an entire military installation with superior weapons technology.

also, it wasn't until the humans exhausted most of their weapon types on scorponok that they started retrofitting their weapons with the only type of munitions that were known to work.

They gotta have wheels because the autobots transform and ROLL OUT, not fly out!!!:cwink: Maybe they'll have the aerialbots in the sequel, who knows?
