They're benders alright. If any of them weren't, I'm sure Tarrlok's rediculous idea of oppressing non-benders to flush out equalists wouldn't have gotten a unanimous vote.

I remember Tarrlok saying he was trying to be a "hero" to Republic City. He wanted to be the one who captures this big bad terrorist villain and be known as Republic City's savior. I didn't get the impression that he was just trying to follow in his father's footsteps (or even got along with him for that matter).

I think his version of being a 'hero' was still being the same thing his Father was except doing it more out in the open with the allusion that he is doing it for the people's best interest. Unlike his old man, who was doing it from the 'underbelly' where it is inherently suspicious.

The last point I agree with and am truly worried/excited to know who/what is Amon. At this point the biggest cop-out they could pull is the truly faceless villain concept, that Amon could be an everyman pushed to the brink and embracing an extremist view of "Equality". The next biggest cop-out would be a "brother" of Tenzin or Tarrlok or Sokka's nephew twice removed...etc etc. While possible...I don't really fancy that story path.

I'm not sure what you mean here; you wouldn't be happy if Amon was revealed as someone unrelated to the existing or previous characters?

On a side note, anyone else reading Bryan Konietzko's tumblr? Sad to hear there are fans/trolls that feel so privileged.

I just started watching this. Possibly the best looking animation I can remember seeing on television. So beautiful. I don't enjoy the group as much as I did Aang's, but it is made up for with the secondary characters.

Any chance more episodes will be ordered down the line? They way everything I look up on the subject is worded makes it sound like a possibility.

Possible. But we have no idea when the 14-episode 2nd season will premiere and unsure what it will even be about.

Well I am only three episodes in right now (I plan on finishing the rest of the episodes before Sat new episode) and I don't want to be spoiled. But If I had to guess, Korra is going to lose her bending and will have to show relearn the art.

By the way, I love Aang's grand kids. So adorable.

To keep you from being spoiled I won't confirm or deny that. Looking at the previous three seasons of the first series they are entitled Water, Earth, Fire. This season is Air so what will Book 2 of this series be called?

I don't know what they'd call it, but I don't think it'll have to do with elements since Air is the only element left for her to learn.

Maybe it will have something to do with the Spirits.

That is what I was wondering as well. I was shocked when I watched the first episode and she was capable of bending three of the elements already.

The only options I could really think of was that she would somehow be left only able to bend air and would be left to rediscover the other elements, thus resulting in the Water, Earth, Fire retread. Or possibly Energy, if she is in search of the ability to bend again or learning energybending.

I think season 2 could be Spirit or Energy. I like both. But I may like Spirit better. Seems to flow better with the theme of both series.

Anyway, I just watched episode 9 ......

......and I was in shock. SHOCK I tell you! Just a couple pages back I was hoping Amon and Tarrlok would duke it out, with Amon coming out as the victor. But I was worried. I thought for sure it would happen in the season finale (still could I guess), but I was worried that the creators were going to switch directions and make Tarrlok the new Big Bad and have him crush Amon and then face off against the Avatar.

I am SO glad that didn't happen. The show would have been awesome either way, but for my own personal enjoyment I am so glad they want Amon Public Enemy 1#.

When Tarrlok was telling Korra he had to take on a disguise etc...I wasn't sure if he was talking about becoming a politician or being Amon (or both). When he walked up those steps and Amon is just standing there, I was FLOORED. All the theories a lot of us had went right out the window.

But then I thought Tarrlok has the upper hand because he can bloodbend! Amon has underestimated this guy.......and then when Tarrlok started bloodbending and Amon just casually approaches him, I LOST my shizz!!! I was dying!

Anyway, fantastic episode. Aang was awesome, and so were Toph and Sokka. Yakone was a dirty old snake. Some really creepy stuff in this episode with all the bloodbending. You feel like their bodies are about to explode.

I do think they could have done more with Tarrlok. There was a lot of potential there.

They could of.. and with a full 20 or 21 episodes, maybe. But he was always a secondary storyline next to amon. With only 12 episodes, it had to come to an end. I think a lot of the potential for this first season was limited due to the limited amount of time they had. For what it is worth, they have packed a **** load of compelling stuff into this condensed and short season.

Only thing I disliked was the whole secretary 'I was supposed to leave but I didn't and saw everything' cop-out. That was a little cheap, but the rest of the episode in my opinion was awesome, so I can overlook it.

I do like that it was Amon that took him out and not the police, tenzin or Korra. Made me root for Amon for a few minutes haha.

I found the whole they just happened to overhear where the prison is even more contrived.

They could have set him up as a villain for the next season. He didn't even get to have good minions. Seems like wasted potential.

Agreed.

They could have. With the way this season has played out Amon sets up perfectly for a multi-season villain. But they came out from jump and said there would be two different villains for the two different seasons; I am pretty sure they aren't going to switch it up three quarters of the way through the season. Maybe if this gets enough vocal fan support they'll extend it from a second season into a third and have a longer lasting overall arc like the TLA

Tarrlok may not be done with yet. The actor who voices him tweeted that he just adding some finishing touches with the guy who plays Amon in the last episode.

But I've said from the beginning, I really wish Amon was the main villain of this series and not just the first season. But if the season finale is as epic as it looks to be, I can forgive that.

Man I am really love this show. I dig Korra's flashbacks.

They were pretty cool. I thought older Aang and Toph -voice wise- would be slightly more similar to their younger selves, but I think by and large they sounded just dandy.

I am surprised Katara wasn't in any of the extended flashbacks.. Especially the Courtroom scene.

Heh, speaking of Korra's flashbacks, the entire ep I kept thinking, nobody better do anything stupid like rescue or set Korra free until we get the entire flashback.

Yeah, I thought it was odd as well that Katara wasnt in the flashback. I wonder why...probably cheating on Aang with Zuko or something nefarious like that :oldrazz:.

I don't know if anyone's ever discussed this yet.......

But I noticed for the first time today while watching the episode that the equalists and Mako wear very similar scarves. It's hard to see because the Chi-blockers are usually in the dark, but while they were in the tunnels, Mako's scarf looked the exact same as theirs. It really stood out to me when Mako held the Equalist up against the wall and threatened him.

I have no idea if it's all in my head or completely irrelevant, but thought I'd share.

I'm not sure what I mean either man. To be honest, either reveal is going to piss off a whole lot of fans.

Someone has got to stay home with the kids!

Hey, Zuko was the main villain for only season one of A:TLA and look how well that turned out. :oldrazz:
