Sci-Fi Avatar: The Way Of Water

I've got a new favorite cereal.

it’s 13 years later - they could’ve built a death star in that time…
True. I just thought maybe the humans would face even more resistance this time around. For them to be able to build such a huge sprawling base means they must’ve been left alone to some capacity. Maybe these guys are more cooperative.

Also 6 of those years were just spent traveling to Pandora for these guys anyway :oldrazz:.

I'm guessing we should be getting a new trailer within the next couple of weeks.

Makes sense to me. IIRC the original full theatrical trailer for the first Avatar also came out around early November.

Maybe the new management of the big base are more competent, and better able to do diplomacy with the Na'vi and/or more able to fight them off. Just going in with an attitude "These are not a bunch of primitives to be pittied or pushed around, they are a powerful and potentially hostile outside nation that needs to be treated as such" would go a long way.

trailer probably within the next days. Will reportedly be attached to BP2…the timing isn’t the best, since the underwater action in the trailers will most certainly look better than those in BP2

Avatar Director Blasts Marvel Movies & MCU Characters

I might’ve seen a different movie, but the characters in the first Avatar weren’t so much fleshed out, like he stated here. Their motivations were clear, because they were either fighting for or against Pandora. But that’s it. You could say, they also act like Teenagers

Usually most of these directors are being asked for their opinion by someone else and they just give an honest answer. It's the trades that replicate the statements everywhere like it's the biggest and most important news ever. Also I respect that he criticises Marvel even though he too belongs in the Disney umbrella.

He's referring to the new movie.

“Zoe [Saldana] and Sam [Worthington] now play parents, 15 years late... in the first movie, Sam’s character leaps off his flying creature and essentially changes the course of history as a result of this crazy, almost suicidal leap of faith. And Zoe’s character leaps off a limb and assumes there’s going to be some nice big leaves down there that can cushion her fall. But when you’re a parent, you don’t think that way. So for me, as a parent of five kids, I’m saying, ’What happens when those characters mature and realize that they have a responsibility outside their own survival?’”

comparing an unreleased movie with other movies doesn’t give him a strong position in that argument

He's literally promoting his movie, he fully knows how to get clicks on the internet and it's clearly working.

Can’t wait for Marvel fans to hold a grudge over Cameron like they still do for Scorsese. Did you know that Wally Pfister is the only cinematographer Marvel fans know? Wonder why.

Scorsese's comments never bothered me. Cameron's do, and it's got nothing to do with Marvel. I love his movies and he's entitled to his opinion but the guy is incapable of being humble. He's broken the box office record twice, or three times if you count Avatar's rerelease when it slipped past Endgame. He has nothing left to prove and any time he takes digs at other films it just comes across as him being a bully, which isn't out of the realm of believability given his behavior on sets in the past.

If this is true the movie will be about the same length as Titanic:

Wouldn’t being a bully punching down? It’s not like he’s attacking some young filmmaker doing their indie film. These are corporate run billion dollar franchises in Marvel and DC. They don’t really need defending. He’s generalizing, but he’s not completely wrong either. I think it’s fair to attack something as successful as you are that you feel aren’t pulling their weight.

But Avatar didn't exactly pull its weight in the character department either. Half the cast is made up of generic soldiers, generic scientists, and a generic mustache-twirling corporate greedy CEO. His complaints come across as the pot calling the kettle black. He's also incorrect in that Tony Stark literally did the exact thing he's complaining about the characters not doing in those movies which was a focal point of Avengers: Endgame.

I was thinking the same. If he thinks people flocked to see Avatar for mostly its emotional depth I have news for him.

I can’t understand why some people really have to trash talk others works instead of talking about their own works. Whether they have a point or not, it tells me more about the kind of people they are than what they are trying to say.

I get what hes saying and hes promoting his characters and his movie but This is the same Cameron who endorsed the last 2 terminator films. I find it interesting people attacking him online for his comments but no one stops to think is his criticisms true?

James Cameron comments on superhero-movies: All hell breaks loose

It might say something about the trashy world we're living in now. Or at least about internet-mentality.

Cameron tried to make Sam Worthington the next big thing. He wasn't and maybe he didn't want to be and if he didn't and would rather be a working actor instead of an A List star, than more power to him.
