Sci-Fi Avatar: The Way Of Water

I, to this day, have never seen a 3D movie. Just on principle I watched Avatar in 2D, wanting to see if the hype was because of the movie itself or the gimmick. But I may, MAY, see this one in 3D, just to tick it off the list and see it how Cameron clearly intends.

Analysts Predict "Avatar" Sequel Box-Office - Dark Horizons

$650 million seems reasonable I think also this will probably help it:

“Avatar: The Way of Water” has the advantage of no real competition in December when it’s released, and no other major blockbusters in cinemas to challenge it until “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” in mid-February.

Avatar has no reason to be afraid of Black Adam. For one thing, Avatar comes out two months later.

If the reviews are really good I can easily see this beating expectations. In that case I actually wouldn't be very surprised if it becomes the first $3 billion movie. Even without China. And with China... well, the first Avatar set an all time record in that country with some $200 million. And back then China only had something around 10% of the movie theaters they have today. Not sure if the sequel can repeat the achievement there to set an all-time record (that would mean it has to make more than The Battle at Lake Changjin's $913 million), but at least become the highest grossing Hollywood-movie. Only time will tell...

Currently, the world-wide gross of Avatar is ~$2.847B. I wonder if the re-release can boost it to $2.9B... :ebr:
The answer to my question is yes. :cwink: According to The Numbers, the original Avatar is now at $2.905B.

Comments on twitter and reddit this week:
-noone cares or talks about Avatar for 13 years
and
-its at 2.9 billion because it made 55million on Re-Release 13 years later.

I am getting to old for this :loco:
That's why I stay away, lol.

Has anyone seen it and noticed a difference? Is it still in theaters?

Im really looking forward to this but I really hope the story is good this time as the first movie while Visually Impressive the story was rather weak. Have they officially said how many years this take place since the first movie?

The protagonists have teenage kids now, so I'm guessing approximately the same gap the two movies had in real life.
