Avengers 5 General News and Discussion Thread

I remember reading a few days ago that Colman Domingo would be up to play Kang and I think he'd be a good replacement.
Yea he was rumored for it a month or so ago but apparently 2 weeks ago Vanity Fair did an interview with him and this is what he had to say
You know, listen. My team has had conversations with Marvel about some aspect of the MCU for years. Do I know this to be true or not? I actually don’t know. I feel like my team doesn’t bring me something unless it’s real. So I don’t know. I could be in conversation, but I’m not sure. I would welcome a conversation around it. Whatever they’re working out with Jonathan [Majors] and his legacy in the MCU, I feel like I just have to be in my own lane, whatever that is. There’s hearsay, there’s conversations, but I’m not even sure because I feel like nothing comes to me until something’s real. But I’d be down with it.

So take that for what you will lol but I feel if he wasn't in talks, he could have just as easily said no it's not true.

I hope Marvel surprises us this year and announce Avengers 5 for 2026. I think it might still have that May2026 date for now, but there's a lot of uncertainty with these upcoming mcu films.

Its been too long since Endgame came out. And a new Avengers movie in 2 years, would bring back a lot of eXcitement to the MCU. Shang-Chi and Fantastic 4 finally interacting with the Avengers team in the big screen would be eXciting to see. And perhaps Eternals too.

Who wants to see the Eternals back? 😂

Yeah... I don't think an Eternals continuation will be highly on Feige's priorities.

Eternals II isn't gonna happen but if someone like The Leader (Incredible Hulk) somehow returned for another MCU movie, and Black Bolt with the actor from the ABC show managed to be included in a MCU movie, they could bring back any Eternal if they want to even if its just for a single scene.

Oh I'm sure we'll see some of them again. It's just that an actual sequel doesn't seem feasible at the moment.

They should just have Sersi join the Avengers like in the comics. They can fill in the details of what happened with Arishem via exposition, like when they had Thor suddenly show up on Earth in the first Avengers movie.

I don't see Sersi joining the Avengers, maybe an appearance. But not as Avenger.

They would probably show up when there's another MCU film set in space. Too bad The Marvels flopped. So Captain Marvel 3 isn't a possibility anymore. In Secret Wars, at least one of them. They aren't entirely ignoring them for that one.

I'm not gonna bet on it happening or anything, but if they want to have a more gender balanced Avengers lineup I feel like it would be counterintuitive to exclude one of only three surviving female characters to be the lead in a movie.

Hmm, the MCU has so many female characters right now - Capt. Marvel, Ms. Marvel, Monica, Binary, Hawkeye, Shuri, Wasp, Cassie, Invisible Woman, America, She-Hulk, Valkyrie, Echo. I don't know how Sersi is gonna end up as one of the female Avengers. But I'd like to see it, so Eternals wouldn't feel such a waste in hindsight.

I just need to know what we're calling this film already. Secret Wars Part 1 or what?

I think the latest rumor was that this one is being reconfigured into something more stand alone with Secret Wars being split into two parts.
Not sure even if Kang is confirmed anymore for it at this rate. Will be good to get details on what the plans are.

I wouldn't mind it at all if they sidelined him for another film or two. They really need to establish a new Avengers team first before things blow up in Secret Wars.

Yeah, I just wanted a normal Avengers to unite all the new characters and have them meet the existing Avengers who are still left and set things up for the future. That film (and a Young Avengers) are so overdue and the lack of them has led to the MCU losing its momentum IMO as audiences were used to an event film linking all the individual films together every few years. Despite all this time and buildup in the new phases (including all the shows) since Endgame, it still feels like Secret Wars should be a fair way off after the new characters have had a couple of films together.

Who could even be the potential Avengers leader at this point? At least with the first crew, you could argue that Tony and Cap led the charge. Now? T'Challa could've been a good candidate, but if not for real life circumstances. Clint seems fine taking it easy. Strange? When he's too busy dealing with incursions? Maybe Sam, but he was reluctant to take on the role of Cap to begin with.

Also, if the Shawn Levy news pans out, the studio must be confident after Deadpool 3. But again, very preliminary.

Marvel Eyes Shawn Levy to Direct Next ‘Avengers’ Movie

It should be Sam as Captain America

with Thor, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, War Machine, Shang-Chi, Hulk and She-Hulk. And, of course, Spider-Man and Doctor Strange appear too

Ant-Man can chaperone the Young Avengers

Sam as Cap or Cap Marvel if the teams get big enough (although I guess she might be too busy off doing her own thing too outside Earth). T'Challa would have been good yeah, while Strange is more a senior figure rather than leading the team.

Hopefully in next month's Sdcc, they will announce the new title along with the entire phasix line up.:ds:

Strange should lead the Midnight Sons along with Blade. Superman/Batman JL situation.

I am guessing Captain Marvel, Sam Cap, Rhodey, along with hulk being potential leaders…Thor and Strange would be just honorary members Clint and Scott could be training Young Avengers I am curious to see if the 60 returning MCU characters involve Moon Knight

I am guessing of the 60 returning characters will be from these teams:

Young Avengers
Living Avengers from Endgame
Guardians of Galaxy
Thunderbolts
Defenders (?)
Fox X men (?)

60 characters... I hope plenty of those mid-credits/post-credits scenes in phase 4/5 are finally addressed before or within this film.

60 characters necessitates a two-parter. At the very least.
