Avengers Doomsday General News and Discussion Thread

So the rumor is there's like 60 characters at play in this movie, who do yall think might factor in?

Possible team ups

OGs:
-Thor -Hulk -Hawkeye -Star-Lord -Old Steve
New Avengers:
-Captain Marvel -Captain America(Sam) -Spider-Man -Shang Chi -Ant-Man -Black Panther(Shuri) -She-Hulk -Daredevil
Young Avengers:
-Ms. Marvel -Hawkeye(Kate) -Stature -Wiccan -Falcon(Joaquin) -Skaar
Thunderbolts:
-Bucky -Widow(Yelena) -Ghost -Taskmaster -US Agent
Multiversal Avengers:
-Deadpool -Wolverine -Spider-Man(Tobey) -X23 -Fantastic Four
Midnight Sons:
-Dr. Strange -Moon Knight -Blade -Black Knight -Werewolf By Night -Man Thing -Elsa Bloodstone
Eternals:
-Sersi -Thena -Kingo -Phastos -Druig -Makkari -Star-Fox

Others:
-Red Hulk -Nick Fury -Val -Photon -Sentry -Silver Surfer

Villain(s)
-Doom -Kang -Arishem -Galactus

(Sorry, I just had this running around my head and needed to put it in writing lol)

If Tobey is coming back, then so will Andrew I imagine. I think they'll pay off the "I want to fight an alien," line somehow.

As for Kang, I still maintain the theory that he'll be wiped off the board quite quickly. The movie will probably either open up implying RDJ Doom killed all his variants or just not mention him at all.

I mentioned this before but when they say 60 characters I think they just mean any named comic character. So if someone like Happy Hogan is in it for 2 minutes, that counts. It would basically be comparably to Infinity War.

True

But like Infinity War.. having Cap's Team and Iron Man's Team, And Thor off with Rocket & Groot.. I hope we get a few of these teams operating together in parallel

For instance at this point I really doubt we're getting a Young Avengers film, so this could be a good place to have them off, operating separately from the main Avengers, running a mission together

I don't think everyone I listed will show up, just trying to figure out some fun team-ups

We need a Madonna needle drop when Deadpool and Logan show up, it’s still hilarious to me that this is now what that song will be directly associated with

I REALLY think Marvel Studios should have had a Young(er) Avengers film for Avengers 5 to establish a roster before another mega expansion. Or at least have Captain Marvel 2 be a proper Younger(er) Avengers film instead of a post credit scene. Hey, it couldn't have worked out any worse at the BO than The Marvels! The first four films had easily identifiable lineups in the OG6, OG2 +4, Team Wakanda (Plus Team Nidavellir and Team Titan) and Team Time Heist before the Assemble reveal. Who are the Avengers now? I haven't a clue.

Given that..........I think it will be a challenge to juggle more than 3 or 4 teams of heroes. I'd go with Young(er) Avengers, New Avengers, FF and Thunderbolts with the Multiversal, Midnight Suns and Eternals characters sprinkled among these teams for added flavor.

As always, take these rumours from the Cosmic Circus with a grain of salt.

The Cosmic Circus has previously said "Time Runs Out" will be a must-read before the next Avengersmovies (no great surprise as it depicted the Multiverse's final Incursion) but now names "Ultimate End" as another. In that, the heroes of Earth-616 and Earth-1610 clashed before assembling to battle Doctor Doom and bring an end to Battleworld.

This report also says Robert Downey Jr. is playing a Doctor Doom Variant and not the version from Earth-616 (if there even is one, which we doubt). It points out that there are conflicting rumblings about whether this Doom is a version of Tony Stark or Victor Von Doom but it sounds like he'll be a greater threat than Kang when this Saga ends.

The idea had been to recast the time-traveller and have Doom become a recurring threat post-Secret Wars (potentially even starring in his own spin-off). It's unclear whether that's now been scrapped.

Given all the fanfare around RDJ and how they presented him, he's going to be the Doom. Like Spider-Fan has stated numerous times and how the Fantastic 4 do not exist in Earth-616, there's no way he exists in the prime timeline.

Thinking there is going to be a new variant of Dr. Doom post-SW is the equivalent of thinking they're going to introduce a proper Mary Jane Watson in next Spider-Man trilogy despite the prevalence of MJ in the Homecoming trilogy.

The idea that there is going to be a better version of something later on tends to be a common coping mechanism among fans.

So at least a chance Doom might be able to go 1 on 1 with Ant Man.

These are definitely coping mechanisms for disappointed fans, but I also think the MCU has been such a unique cinematic beast with money not seen in other franchises across so many films that things remain possible that wouldn't be possible in most other franchises. RDJ and other OGs coming back, Spidey crossing over very significantly (a topic many on the Hype were adamant was impossible) and now the F4 and X-Men joining the MCU. None of these were guaranteed until the money became so huge that those possibilities opened up.

After Thanos, Doom, Kang, Galactus and maybe Magneto/Apocalypse/Phoenix/Onslaught are done, Feige (or whoever is heading it up then) and co will have to decide how many more end of Phase villains they have and whether it's better to go deeper into their lore or return to some of the big guns. We are probably seeing Stark & Cap reinvented every 20 years if the MCU remains successful.

Can't say that wouldn't be satisfying to watch, really. :funny:

He seems play a Stark variant instead
As Feige decided F4 are from another earth, there are definitely no F4 and no VonDoom in 616

although A5 will focus on 616 characters and A6 on 616 remaining characters + those from others universes, we can expect how big the cast would be
-Avengers from infinity saga : Falcon Thor Hulk Hawkeye Rhody Spidey Antman Danvers, maybe Wanda & Vision
-Young AV: Kate, Chavez, Kamala, Cassie
-Various allies : Valkyrie, Strange, Wong, Monica, Shang-Shi, Daredveil, MoonKnight, SheHulk, Torres, Riri, Shuri, Okoyo
-Thunderbolt
-F4

Moreover, Namor and talokans, Raccoon and Guardians can be involved

But Doom isnt a big villain such as Thanos or Galactus or PheonixForce... Hulk is enough to beat him. He would come with an army or something

"shake it up a bit"

Zack, I'm one of the few non-toxic people on the planet who likes your DC films, but this is anything but that. :funny:

If shake it up a bit is bringing back the franchise's first leading man to play another character who is not disguised as another dude, then yeah, just a tad! :D

I'm clueless about what he meant by "shaking it up a little bit".

More importantly, the press needs to stop asking him about these upcoming cb films especially his cb films weren't very good to begin with.

In other words what is traditionally seen as the tried and true formula that works for the studio, for whatever that's worth.

Marvel Studios did shake things up a little bit though several times (streaming shows, bringing pre-MCU stars into the MCU, using several obscure characters to lead a movie). So I'm still not understanding what he said, because thats rich for someone with a bad track record in the movies and who never stepped out of undersaturated color grading.

It's a somewhat lazy take, but he's not completely wrong either. He's basically trumpeting the idea of the studios 4 quadrant blockbusters formula. Deadpool is the most dramatic venture into new territory so far.

Well I don't think Zack Snyder is the best person to be commenting on these things. Thats like asking Simon Kinberg to give an advice to Marvel Studios on how to adapt the X-Men in the movies.

"Morgan Stark will Return"
It's one thing that it's MyTimeToScoop saying this, but otherwise, I don't see the point in bringing a character who didn't even appear in the film proper.

"Morgan Stark will Return"
saw that reported yesterday as well, which makes for an interesting twist if she shows up as carrying on her fathers legacy, one can assume her genetics would suggest Stark level intelligence and his resources from Stark Industries.
