Avengers: Doomsday General News & Discussion Thread

I really have no desire to see these actors in these roles again. I kind of want to see the new MCU versions of these characters. I want to move on from nostalgia bait.

I’m still holding out hope that these characters will be more than just a nostalgia gag. Let’s see what the X-Men have been up to since we last them, so we can set up the stakes that their world is threatened too (assuming this is indeed an incursion-type story with AvX).

I don't see the old X-Men characters doing more than this movie. Maybe a few will last to Secret Wars, but can't expect Ian & Patrick to do much. I hope the multiverse is better than DS2, but it is time to move past multiverse.

Not just the Eternals, they are trying to forget The Marvels existed, even one of the main characters was directly injected into the X men world that was revealed. Can’t blame them given the movie’s epic proportion bomb. Or maybe the actors/actresses are still negotiating the contract so they cannot be revealed yet.
Two of the least liked movies, Eternals is barely referenced. We just saw the Celestial in Cap 4, but they never actually bring of the characters. I am okay with none of them returning. The Marvels I think Kamala will be back and Photon since they did the Beast credit scene, we will get a Captain Marvel but Rambeau not Danvers.

The fact that this hasn't even begun filming, they don't have a finished script, it isn't their original plan and it comes out in just a year is giving me big red flags.
I am already guessing it makes the least out of all the Avenger movies. They are banking on people wanting to just see old X-Men, maybe Spider-Men, and original cast appear. We have not had any actual build up to this, Thunderbolts doesn't feel like that kind of movie to build up a multiverse that is F4's job now. We know Marvel knew how to build up to the big event, constantly saying "Something is coming" in Shang-Chi, DS2, Ant-Man, Marvels, Cap 4 isn't build up .

They aren't ignoring Carol Danvers because she was the lead of a flop movie.... Wesley Snipes and Jennifer Garner were the lead of a flop Marvel movie and they were asked back after more than 15 years since their last Marvel role. Brie Larson was also in Endgame and Captain Marvel. They aren't tossing her just because of that 1 movie, and then let her costars return.

Besides, they know very well they can turn the ship around with certain characters. Remember when Thor was boring? It wasn't until Ragnarok that they cracked how to utilize him.

Imo, if the plan is to get the entire OT X-Men gang together in Secret Wars, then they should have just gave them their own movie (similar to Deadpool/Wolverine) before Doomsday, just like how we are getting a film for Thunderbolts and F4 this year. So what if there's a X-Men reboot coming in under 5 years, they wouldn't brought back these actors after a long time if they aren't gonna factor in Doomsday/Secret Wars.

Its interesting to me that so far, the only actors that are joining/appearing in the MCU for the first time through Doomsday, are all from Fox-Men movies. Even if the others like Nicholas Cage, Ben Affleck, Eric Bana, Thomas Jane, Jessica Alba, Ioan, Mikhael Chiklis, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Miles Teller finally join the MCU, majority of the new MCU cast members would still be from the Fox-Men era, especially if Halle, Anna, Famke and Shawn are announced later.

I think Marvel Studios will keep their options, as long as they see a benefit from bringing back certain characters. Carol is 1 character. Eternals is a group of 10 (including Pip/Starfox), so there's a big difference between the two.

Story wise, it just doesn't make sense to ignore a Mcu character who was in 3 MCU movies (excluding cameo roles) and the lead for their 2 movies, just because 1 movie flopped. Captain Marvel 2019 still grossed a billion.

I didn't say Danvers wouldn't appear in Secret Wars, I just don't think she will appear in Doomsday. If Doomsday is going to be all about the multiverse and trying to build that up and threat then Rambeau is the CM. Photon will appear because she is currently trapped in the alternated universe, Kamala likely because they will need to try and have new characters fighting a bit more. They will have Rambeau fight Danvers in Secret Wars.

CM made a billion because it was released after IWs and people believed it could set up some things.

Well not everybody should show up in Doomsday. Carol was also not present in Infinity War.

She wasn't introduced yet in Infinity War. I get that there are a lot of characters to squeeze in but Carol not making an appearance in Doomsday would be a questionable move after having two solo movies under her belt. Same goes for Dr. Strange, even though we've seen a lot more of him by comparison.

It is fine to me, since there are plenty of characters who haven't appeared in an Avengers movie yet (Shang-Chi, Fantastic 4, X-Men, most of Thunderbolts, Namor, Falcon II).

But all the leads should be in Secret Wars, for the grand finale of the Multiverse Saga.

Who do you think should get to have the killing blow? Because I reckon Cyclops should be the leader of the mission and the guy who gets to prove why he’s the boss

I would like to be wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Professor and Magneto get more emphasis in the movie than Cyclops once again.

But I think just being part of the action is already a huge upgrade from James Marsden's role in X3 and DOFP.

Wonder if they will have Strange be in that incursion with Clea or just skim by it.

They really should release Doctor Strange 3 before Secret Wars. Maybe in November 2025 or February 2026, those Marvel placeholder dates are still untitled.

what? do you think blockbuster movies are made in just 1 month or what?

Doctor Strange isnt in pre-production, so there is no way it gets released this year or next one.

Yes I really think movies are made in under 1 month...

That was clearly not my point. If I said Shang-Chi 2 should have been out by now or in September 2025 (4 years after the last one), you would see that as me suggesting Shang-Chi 2 can be finished this week...

Its not that deep. I'm not even gonna bother explaining when it was obvious I meant, these sequels shouldn't be taking more than 3 years to come out.

The November 2025 date was already dropped from the schedule and I wouldn't be surprised the same happens to the February date. No other movie is currently in production at the moment, so there's no way Marvel is going to have a movie done in time for that slot.

OT Xmen cast will be variants and I hope they will have minor role

Sorry its better to wait for MCU XMEN
