Avengers: Infinity War was epic, surprising, emotional, entertaining and haunting. Still trying to process it.

Thor might’ve been the MVP for me. Never thought I’d say that but.... wow.

Surprised with how underserved Cap was relatively speaking.

I think we're going to make up for that next movie. Honestly, I was shocked at how even the emphasis was. Iron Man didn't get a whole ton more screen time than say Cap did (though I think he had overall more...but not by a country mile). This movie was pretty well balanced. My biggest Cap complaint would be he was awesome, but really didn't have an arc. That should change next movie, though.

In defense of Carol's whereabouts with all of this, could he have been paging her in the past? That modified beeper was kind of strange.

I don't think so, I think they will quickly realize there is a part 2 coming and be fine with it. But, I guarantee many coming to see this won't know it's 2 parts and lose their minds until that is told to them, LOL!
How on Earth could anyone not know there was another one coming? The original Avengers were left alive. They aren't just gonna sit there and let Thano's get away with what he did without fighting. Seems obvious.

This movie had such a breakneck pace that strangely enough, Thor's side quest just left me slightly deflated. But the Russos did it again: they were able to juggle such a huge ensemble of characters, give most of them their individual moments of limelight and deliver a setpiece that would probably go down in history as the high watermark of the superhero genre.

That said, I had several issues with some characters and their portrayal, though in the Russos' defence, they had to do what they did given the scale of the film. Black Order was just...cannon fodder and nothing more. They were just stepping stones in the Avengers and their quest to foil Thanos' universe-breaking plan. I also thought Cap was somewhat sidelined, but I trust the Russos to do him justice in what would likely be his last hurrah in Avengers 4. Thanos was a layered villain, but his plan to tip the scale of the universe was just a tad too clinical for my liking.

Infinity War is definitely not my personal favourite in the MCU, but thankfully it had the Russos and their stamp all over it. It has just the right amount of heart, spectacle, character moments and gravitas to make all the 10-years build up worth it, and leave us clamouring for more :drl:

I actually think iron man had a considerable amount more to do than Cap but it’s all kind of a blur. I’ve never had this much trouble digesting a movie before. There’s just so many ways in, so many things I loved.

RED SKULL!!!!!!! My audience collectively lost their minds.

Rocket giving Thor an eye and groot giving him a handle was an absolute master stroke. Bravo to everyone who had a hand in that.

I did not care for banner in the giant armor. It was kinda dumb.

Peter Dinklage was incredible. He and Thor’s exchange about dying really got me.

Thanos is undoubtedly my favorite big screen baddie of all.

LOVED IT!

My theater was so animated. Massive cheers for Cap, Spidey, and Black Panther when they appeared. Thor's epic entrance to the battle had everyone screaming. Great movie and great theater experience!

I don't think it was an issue of quantity though. I think it was an issue of quality. Tony had an arc in this movie. He's one of the few who actually did. Cap was in it not a whole lot less, but it feels like less because he didn't have a character arc.

You very well could be correct, I’ll have to reassess again on Saturday.

I’m mad I got 11am tickets.... I want another big lively crowd. Should’ve got tickets for the evening.

I really didn't care for Hulk/Banner in this at all.

Forgot to mention the chills I got when the Black Panther score came on. The crowd loved that.

just got home - this was as epic a movie as you could hope for. 10/10!!!

side note - does anybody else think thanos died at the end? the vision with baby gamora saying it cost him everything seemed like a after death experience and him sitting watching the sunset was his afterlife.

I think it's a combination of him having a lot more to do, AND him having much more new character interactions to mix it up with. The Strange/Tony dynamic was fresh and fun, as well as his interactions with the Guardians, and of course we got a good continuation of the Iron Man /Spidey relationship.

Cap didn't have any of that at all in this film. He didn't play off any character well, new or old. His reunion with Bucky was also surprisingly very flat and way too quick. I thought this was his worst film to date. I just got no sense of him at all.

i have never been in a theater where the last 15 mins was PURE SILENCE followed by sad groans and screams.

Nah, I doubt that the "Thanos will return" at the end meant that it would only be in flashbacks or the afterlife. Lol

This movie worked so well for me in so many ways, but Cap was basically of the main 4 Avengers this movie's Thor from A1 & AoU. Which, Thor got elevated so it is a fair trade (Thor fans I know were waiting for it). Again though, I kind of see this as one half of a movie. We have another half to go, and the Russos already said someone with less screen time in IW will have it made up for them in Avengers 4. I expect Cap to get a lot of play next movie. I'm not terribly as broken up about it as I thought I would be, LOL!

Next time baby! :word: :cap:

Agreed. They nail basically everything else so I’m not mad about it.

Crazy. I didn't think they'd really end with the Avengers decisively losing. That was ballsy. I enjoyed a lot, if a bit less than Black Panther. The large cast invariably meant there wasn't much time for character development this time, but I like that everyone at least got their moment, even War Machine.

In fact, I am surprised that he is apparently one of the second stringers the Russos said would take on a bigger role in Part 2. Can't wait.

Overall, quite possibly the best Marvel movie. Certainly the best villain, and the most effective in scope. Also, the Russos have a better understanding of tonal balance than most of the other people working at Marvel, so they don't ruin key moments with jokes.

Weirdly, when you consider just how long in the making much of this was, there were some things in the movie, mainly relationships, that I thought could have been set up better. Most obviously, when you consider how much emotional weight hangs on Wanda and the Vision's relationship, something that had very little time devoted to it and basically happened between movies. The actors do a surprisingly effective job of selling it, though. And also, everybody knows that Wanda is the only one that can destroy the Infinity Stone, for some reason.

Also, and while this wouldn't have been an issue for me (and other people who post in this forum) either way since I know the Infinity Gauntlet story, when you consider that Loki's death in the early going packs a surprising punch and is accompanied by the "no resurrections" crack that tries to sell the idea that This Time It's For Realz, by the end of the movie the body count is so extreme that not even the most credulous viewer could ever think that this will end with anything other than a full reset. Paradoxically, that lowers the stakes (though I expect we'll see some real casualties among the survivors of Thanos' purge).

Yeah but the reset thing will only work for the people who have been killed by the snap. Gamora, Loki, Heimdall and Vision were killed by Thanos himself. So I think it's safe to say their deaths are permanent.

Honestly, I was shocked at Gamora's death. I went into IW thinking all the Guardians were safe for some reason lol.

Saw the movie tonight. Was great and I enjoyed all the interactions. It was pretty intense, especially the end.

I did want to see more Hulk though. What's the point of doing CGI for him for the trailer in Wakanda but then they don't use that? I want to see Hulk not Banner or Hulkbuster. Did they blow their budget on Thanos and the Black Order? I wanted to see both Spider-Man and Hulk in the same scene in that battle in New York. Those two used to be the two figureheads of Marvel back in the day.

Also wished that Ant-Man and Hawkeye could've been in it too.

At first I thought Thor would kill Thanos at the end and his story would be over, since they said it wouldn't be a two part story. I thought we might get something different for Avengers 4. This was before everyone started disintegrating.

I don't see how revealing the title of Avengers 4 would be a spoiler for this. No title would really spoil it unless they called it Avengers: Spidey, Black Panther, the GOTG and Dr Strange died.

It's not like if they called it Infinity Gauntlet that it would've given anything away as everyone expected he'd get that in the end.

It was cool to see the Red Skull. That was unexpected. In a way though, he acted a bit like Death. He was a skull with a hood and robe over him and guarded the Soul Stone, for which a death was required. I guess we won't see Death in the next film. It would be a bit sudden to introduce her.

Who are the Avengers going to fight since the Black Order are dead? It can't just be Thanos. Maybe they could bring in Super Giant and Black Swan.

I'm actually happy! The OG Avengers are alive!

You may get it. I got tickets for 11:30AM tomorrow on a work day and it's just about sold out already.

Agreed. Now, if Cap gets the same role in the next one, then we got fighting words, LOL!!! :oldrazz:

But I really don't see that happening. I think rallying the team after this will be a major part of Avengers 4. Who better to bring everyone together and light their darkest hour than Captain America?

I can't properly write a review for this. I just can't. I'm still speechless
I miss Cap's shield

Loki's death - most brutal
Gamora's death - most shocking
Vision's death - most heartbreaking

I don't really count the others as dead

I knew I was going to be right about that one, LOL!!! I think it was the right call. Avengers 4 I think will more heavily focus on the original Avengers, which I think it has to. If this is possibly the last we see of our old friends, Avengers 4 really should be their show.
