what of those who have history with both teams:
wolverine
Storm (new member of Avengers)
Sub-Mariner
Beast

so we'll see what happens.

I hope it has some compelling villains. now that Magneto is on the good side again, that's boring..

Wolverine : From the looks of the promo , it looks like he's on the Avengers side.
Storm : Who knows.
Sub-Mariner : I'm sure he'll stick with the X-Men since he wants to get with Emma.
Beast : He'll probably end up siding with Cap since he's still butt hurt from being captured during Dark Avengers/X-Men.

I posted most of my thoughts in my Examiner column, but my main feeling is being underwhelmed. Someone told me about this at work and I didn't think he was serious, because it seemed like such an old and predictable idea.

Marvel's midlife crisis continues. This is a no-brainer sort of event idea. Suddenly DC is the edgy and bold company (relaunching OMAC, VOODOO, and GRIFTER for heaven's sakes) and Marvel is becoming stodgy and old, relying on the same hits over and over. It is so weird for me.

Relaunching Omac Voodoo and Grifter bold? That's a sad comment on the comics industry.

What makes DC's decision to relaunch everything "bold"? And it's not like rebooting everything with a Crisis event is anything new for DC.

They do that too many damn times if you ask me

Because they are giving obscure titles/characters a chance. Marvel doesn't do that.

I don't really follow DC, but are you saying that readers are actually buying up the 52 #1 relaunch issues?
A lot, the last time i checked the top 10 best selling comics were from DC, i used to prefer Marvel but now with i think i prefer DC a bit more, unlike with Marvel they don't make 5 events per year, and when they do one it's really good, examples are Infinite Crisis, Blackest Night and Sinestro Corps War

Blackest Night was horrible.

Marvel still has the best event of this century... Annihilation.

But yea, I'm reading less and less Marvel now.

NEWSARAMA had a big deal about this event where we got some info... though not much.

Some key points that caught my eye:

1) Nova will be involved in the event and their cosmic side will have a place in the story thanks to Phoenix, though they they aren't ready to reveal the details.

I like that this event is combining my three favorite aspects of Marvel: Avengers, X-Men, and Cosmic. I'm as evented out as anybody but this one really has me excited.

2) Tie-ins will mostly be limited to current X-Men and Avengers titles (apparently not including Winter Soldier or Avengers Assemble), though there might be two or three more in addition to that.

I find this laugh worthy. They say they're senative to people being burnt out on events so they've limited it to just Avengers and X-Men titles... and a few more. They do realize that's still the majority of their line right?

3) It sounds like the Young Avengers and the Avengers Academy will be pulled into the event at some point.

I love the YA and any chance we get to see them involved is good. Plus, I'm curious what will come of X-23 since she's playing both sides.

I hope that when this goes down no more X-Men are Avengers members, no more double duty. Spidey and DD are fine. Cage can stay because he's written better 9 times out of 10 when not written by Bendis. Rulk needs to F-off too.

I have a feeling that when Bendis leaves next year a lot of characters will go with him. Either for some pet project or to just clear some space. I'd be shocked if characters like Rulk, Protector, and Storm stick around.

I'm pretty sure Wolverine & Beast will stay Avengers, especially since it seems like they're siding with Cap & the Avengers during this event.

The writers better explain why the X-Men & Avengers just don't team-up to save Hope from the Phoenix. But I have a feeling they won't. -_-

Wolverine : From the looks of the promo , it looks like he's on the Avengers side.
Actually one of the promos has Wolverine fighting Captain America.

Beast : He'll probably end up siding with Cap since he's still butt hurt from being captured during Dark Avengers/X-Men.
Beast is wearing his X-Men uniform in the promos as opposed to his Avengers uniform.

Relaunching Omac Voodoo and Grifter bold? That's a sad comment on the comics industry.

It's bolder than yet another Wolverine title or yet another Spider-Man spin-off or yet another X-Men title.

DC relaunching OMAC, VOODOO, and GRIFTER and appearing to allow them 12 issues of leeway is akin to Marvel relaunching U.S. ONE again and vowing to give it a year no matter the sales. Can any of us imagine that happening?

The DC New 52 captured the imagination of readers and retailers, at least for 2 months. DC's gotten Aquaman to outsell New Avengers by a wide margin for at least 2 months. Meanwhile, what's Marvel got? A rehash of a stunt from the Jim Shooter era? Attempting to compromise with the vocal minority of Ben Reilly fans with a move that may likely irritate them? Double-shipping every book that isn't (yet) canceled? Hell, ASM will go back to triple-shipping for a month and VENOM will ship FIVE ISSUES for heaven's sakes, and that's a 31k book.

DC's New 52 was a desperate stunt, admittedly. The dilemma is Marvel doesn't even have the balls for a desperate stunt. DC's move at least netted them record sales for 2 months. Marvel's content to re-arrange desks on a sinking ship. If the New 52 revealed anything, it is that readers and retailers are bored with the status quo and anything that even vaguely looked like a company was going all in on something that at least PRETENDED to be new got their attention. What is Marvel offering? More of the same.

Because they are giving obscure titles/characters a chance. Marvel doesn't do that.

I love how I don't even need to offer a counter point here. Thanks, Morningstar!

What!? You're pessimistic about a Marvel story!?! YOU? Come on.

You'll buy every issue.

Well, you are a reviewer. That's pretty much a free pass to buy bad stuff and not look like a hypocrite, right?

So if Obama opened a lemonade stand to try an reinvigorate the economy, would that be a bold move?

Marvel will do their usual thing of X-Men and Avengers fighting each other over something that could be cleared up in a 30 second logical conversation.

We get a brawl and series of misunderstandings. Cyclops will probably be made to look even more of a jerk.

These superhero vs superhero fights are the equivalent of DC's Superman forgetting he has other superpowers and just throwing punches at supervillains he could beat easily with the rest of his powers.

LOL....there's been ALOT of fighting over Hope, the last several years. Now its been expanded to include the Avengers

Speaking of Hope, did we ever find out who the hell she is or did Marvel pretty much just drop that whole mystery?
