I was waiting for some similar rediculous tale involving the Fantastic Four :)

OH I'm sure there's plenty for the FF. Didn't Reed travel to the gates of HEAVEN to bring back Ben Grimm from the dead? *facepalm*

First of all, that was awesome. I facepalm your facepalm.

Secondly, the FF stormed the Gates of Heaven and broke through, where they Met God (Jack Kirby) who healed Reeds face which got all melted by Doom, and sent them back to Earth with good ole Benjy and no memory of what went down. :o

I know. All the Avengers had was Hank Pym discovering what he thought was the suspended body of his dead ex-wife, which he used as the location for his interdimensional headquarters, only to later discover that it was the body of the dead wife of one of his old enemies instead.
Or how about when Ms Marvel got raped by Scarlet Centurion and ended up giving birth to him. All the Avengers were pretty supportive about that. It's like wtf guys ?!?

Actually, it's much weirder than that. It was Scarlet Centurion but only kinda Scarlet Centurion. You see, he was Immortus' son, which is pretty much what Scarlet Centurion is (At least one of them was) because Immortus is Kang, (Who was the first Scarlet Centurion) But only Kang's Scholarly side which he split from by shear force of will.

But yeah, truth is the guy that mind raped her, impregnated her, then had her give birth to himself was Immortus' son, not Kangs. (Though he kinda was Kang's son......)

It's actually not that confusing once you throw the whole Scarlett Centurion thing out the window. :o

Anyone read the first issue of this? I flipped through it at the shop and it seemed like basically an excuse for Cap and Cable to fight for half an issue.

Yeah....I hated how Loeb is writing him and it seems as if Cable's been set up to be brought back, only to die again when this is done, which I hope is not the case

I didn't get it but thumbed it. It looked terribly stupid. Cable should not be able to go toe to toe with Cap, let alone get the drop on him, shackle him up and put a gun to his head.

Cable is supposed to be an experienced soldier but yet he buys into what Blaquesmith feeds him about Hope and the Avengers. Shouldn't he be a little wiser to go after the Avengers like that on his own. Why does he even believe this tall tale from Blaquesmith anyway, Cable used to wear the Cap star a few years back, now he's quick to condemn him for something that may or may not happen....?

Let's just say this little prediction is true.....wouldn't Nathan's first instinct be to go to San Fran and grab Hope to protect her? He did it for almost 2 (story) years.

Loeb sucks.

His TK powers seemed to be available to him. There's one scene where a bunch of energy seems to be shooting out of Cable's head and Cap gets knocked over. So with the TK, I could see him holding his own against Steve.

Loeb described Cable as the Captain America of the X-men in the past, so Im sure he was dying to write a match up between them. I think Cable could take him on

Hahahahahahahaha, Cable as Captain America. :funny:

No, but seriously, though. That's hilarious.

well he only has 24 hours, so going to protect Hope wont do anything especially since there is no immediate threat against her right now. His train of thought is that if he takes out the Avengers, then he eliminates that future threat. What makes no sense is that Blaquesmith just told him the Avengers go ater Hope, but he doesnt specify who. There are TONS of Avengers. Even if Cable takes out Cap A and his team, there's still plenty unnaccounted for and its implausible that Cable can eliminate them all within 24 hours. He doesnt have the power or resources to accomplish that

Anf he's doing all of this bc the future is still a messed up place, but wouldnt killing off the Avengers most likely lead to a horrible future? Without them around to save the world, it could have disastrous consequences. Can anyone say Days of Future Past? Just imagine what the media and ploticians would do if a mutant, an X-man at that murdered the beloved Avengers unprovoked. Cable WTF are you doing? He about to set mutantkind back several years

Here's his quote

Loeb talked about his affection for the character as it was the first monthly book he ever worked on at Marvel in the 1990s. "I always saw Cable as very much the Captain America of the X-Men." said Loeb, "A soldier from out of time who cared deeply for the people he worked with."

I feel like there's a catch here, like for some reason Cable is just not in his right mind. Or maybe its not really Cable at all. I mean, there has to be an explanation....right?!??

I'm starting to see where this maybe going......

It could be any Avenger, maybe those silly Revengers Bendis created by ruining Wonder-Man. Simon is supposed to be in the Avengers vs X-Men event and X-Sanction is the prelude to that...

Sounds good to me, I'll be saving a ton of money in 2012.:cwink:

well the TO virus is progressing at a rapid rate so maybe its affecting his brain

Was he a good guy last we saw him? I dont' remember. He was good in Bishop & Gambit. I don't quite remember his mindset in Messiah War.

He was the main villian in Messiah War. The story ended with Apocalypse killing him and taking his body as his new host, not that means anything as that has all been ignored since and hasnt been followed through with

It was an alternate future, the real Stryfe has been long dead since X-Cutioners Song.

Not really, Fabian Nicezia's Cable in Cable & Deadpool claimed that he wielded the shield in his future. Depending on the interpretation of Cable, you can definitely make the argument that he's the Captain America of his future.

He came back after that. I don't recall which came first but he was in the Bishop/Gambit mini and in a Cable/X-Man crossover. Beyond that I don't know.
