Iron Man Avi out & Maisel in, he tried to change Iron Man villain!

^ I agree, its another example of a guy who comes in after production starts and wants to have a say in the film he had nothing to do with and of course its a money issue as well, trying to cut corners.

Huh? I thought Avi was in charge of all these movies in the pipeline! He's been out of the picture for an entire year?

I'm really confused here...

Vic

Seriously, **** this newbie. I hope Jon, Paramount, Marvel and everyone else involved fight against this idiotic suggestion.

The new guy should have replaced A.A. when the script for Spidey 3 was being written, knowadamsayin' ;)

Funny....so many people here were calling for Avi's head and now he's gone the s*** hits the fan.

Though I never heard that myself, I was aware that some Marvel execs can be unpopular. Just goes to show, better the devil you know.

Hasn't Jon said in interviews that the Mandarin would be the main villain for the first Iron Man? Now we have set pics of Iron Monger showing up. So those could be your two villains right there. I still say it's too early to bring Iron Monger in. Let Tony Stark be the only one to suit up in this film.

Edit: And for me, there is nothing worse than cramming characters and villains into a story. I'm even fine with updating or modifying a character's looks but once we start crowding a movie and start sacrificing character development than we have a problem.

Perhaps that explains why we are seeing Iron Monger pics and not a single confirmation on who is even playing the Mandarin

Yea but based on the casting call we know Gene Khan aka the Mandarin is in this movie. Am I the only one that thinks its too early for Iron Monger? :csad: Save Obadiah's betrayal for the second film. Have Tony be the only man in iron for the first Iron Man.

It would depend on the story arc. Generaly more than one villain per movie can be a bit much if you're planning on giving them all a lot of screen time. If you were planning a big gang of villains like the Sinister Six or the Masters of Evil etc then you would need more than one film. However, just two could just about fit. Just about.

IMHO more than one villain per film RARELY works. Don't like the idea... most of the time it's too much.

I don't believe this guy could be that stupid. Combining characters to save money doesn't make sense.

Why not just save the other classic villian for the sequel?

Yeah, I always thought it was silly to ignore Avi's contributions when a Marvel movie was a success but give him all the credit when the movies fail. :whatever:

Perhaps the Mandarin was too difficult to pull off with both character development, graphic representation etc.

Too bad ...

The only time that it ever worked was Superman II

Batman Returns?
Batman Begins?
Blade II?
The X-men films?
Daredevil (yeah yeah yeah, it wasn't a great movie, but the multiple villains definitely weren't the problem)

It's not so much HAVING multiple villains that are the problem as it is how they're used. Trying to sort of make each villain like Spider-Man 3 did is absolutely the wrong way. You've either got to have 1 main villain and 1 supporting villain (like Batman Begins), or have 1 main villain with a bunch of other villains as his henchmen (Think Magneto and his brotherhood of Mutants)

I just hope that by "combining two villains into one" they don't mean it literally and make Jeff Bridges Mandarin...

I'm not 100% convinced we're not getting 2 villians, there's always alot of deception when dealing with studios and reports, not saying Mandarin will be in the film, but he may not be a huge part of it, letting Obadiah Stane do all the dirty work and pulling the strings, remember Mandarin is the Iron Man's arch nemisis, he doesn't have to get his hands blood stained until the third film, if it goes that far.

yes but this just proves there are two villains cleearly confirmed from the Fat Favreau as the Chinese Mandarin and from the spy pics of Iron Man fighting the silver tinned huge robot that is Iron Monger

I'm glad Avi Arad is gone,he is always ruining things with his crazy ideas.

We need word from Jon on whether or not these "suggestions" have come to pass.
