not sure I like where he is headed with FF2. Galactus is good for the comics but it is a very delicate thing to handle in a film. I don't see them pulling it off. And Surfer will have to be CG most of the time and they cannot pull that off. They need to keep things small while dealing with a grand scale. I think that Marvel forgets that. Its only when there is a director that fights the studio do we get a good movie. Those who cow-tow end up making movies like Elektra or Hulk.... studio bombs

news is on the front page btw.

I don't know if he's talking about Payne or Frost. I still wish they would go with the script Story has been prepping for since making FF. But I from what I take from his comments. Doom is still in to finish his story. But Surfer is probobly a character who's actions for being on earth are shrouded in mystery until the end, while Galactus himself is the cliffhanger and not SS.

This is the actual quote

Fantastic Four 2

"It's a couple of years later and we get to see what their life is like. What else is there for them to accomplish, what issues are in their lives, where's Doom?"

Regarding Galactus: "They'll be some pretty big surprises. What we're trying to do is not to show him, but to show someone else, initially."

Interesting,i think Zer00 is right,SS will be in the movie with his motivations unclear and Galactus will be the cliffhanger

I also think the "where's doom?" comment might mean the fate of Doom might plaque Reed a bit, wondering what happened to him. Then boom he shows back up as ruler of Latveria.

Oooooooh, I'm starting to like the sound of this!

Doom lures the surfer to Earth to steal his power . . . the FF defeat him, Final scene, looming Galactus spaceship?

Am I just being delusional to think it could be something so cool?

Hmmm, reading the quote again . . . maybe he just means the Story will focus primarily on the SS with Galactus not coming until the end (and the FF defeat him as the climax).

That wouldn't really be too different from the comic storyline - just without us seeing Galactus standing on buildings setting up his equipment etc.

They've been doing it in Capri Sun commercials (I think it's Capri Sun), complete with surfing effects, for several years...the capability goes all the way back to Terminator 2...
For scenes with other characters and in close-ups, I'm sure they can do a "rotoscoping" CGI that will do just fine.

I like the sound of where ya'll are going with this....lol....now if Avi and Co. are headed that direction....hey cool with me.

You're being an optimist.

And that's why we love you.

Well Kel, it's real easy to hide behind a PC and call people names....it makes me smile, because folks like that usually lack the stones to act like that while face to face with someone.

I wouldnt worry about it.

ooooh not worried.....actually that was more out of sarcasm...lol

yes you are correct....I've always believed that much more was said behind a computer than would ever be said face to face.....

Let him have his fun. He's cuter then.

Hmmm...interesting comment about Doom. Julian starts shooting season 4 of Nip/Tuck right a fter Memorial Day (almost a month earlier than last year) and could finish up by middle to late August... plenty of time to shoot some scenes for FF2. Fox has always been flexible about clearing Michael and Julian's schedules.

I am guardly optomistic, but I like what I just read. :)

This is starting like it could possibly be a "dream project" of sorts...think about it, we see a married Reed and Sue, possibly Sue becomes pregnant, we see Ben and Johnny are still bickering back and forth, Ben is still with Alicia, Johnny has either met a girl (Frankie?) or is still hopping from girl to girl. Then, we switch scenes from the Big Apple, the city that never sleeps, to a small European nation, with a castle in the background, and its monarch looking down to his citzenry. It is then, we learn that Dr. Doom is alive and well and has been tracking an incredible source of power, deep in space, and it is approaching Earth at rapid speed. With his sophisticated machinery, Doom lures what turns out to be the Silver Surfer to his castle. Of course, Reed knows about this power too and is worried about where it landed...Latveria. The F4 take off in their Fantasticar and arrive in Doomstadt, where it is too late, the Surfer's power is in possession of Doctor Doom, now a mega-powerhouse as he begins his conquest of Earth...after a fierce battle, Doom is defeated, and the Surfer warns the F4 that his master is approaching Earth...Galactus. The final shot we see is Galactus's spehere heading into Earth's atmosphere.

This is the F4 film I would love to see and maybe just maybe, we might get some of this after all....

Agree 100 %. Good thoughts there. Sounds to me like they are allmost ready to go. I still say the'll start sometime in June. Avi said lots of surprises, and I think that's exactly what this sequel needs. I still can't believe Fox is willing to put the bucks out for the spx, that the Surfer, and Galacticus will be needing, but mabey the are going to open up on this 1. It would indeed be a gamble, but 1 that I think would pay off, and blow the 1st movies gross out of the water. just for informatin purposes here, Mojo has estimated $ 107 million for X-Men this weekend. :) Cost $ 210 million. I saw it. Blew me away. That figure would put this movie 4th on the alltime opening weekend list behind Shreck 2, ROTS, and the 1st Spiderman. I point this out to say, if Fox could make the sequel as good as this film, there would be no limit of where it would finish. But would Fox be willing to put $ 210 million into the sequel, if they got a movie every bit as good as this last X-Men movie ?

X-men as of this moment 107 million. 32 million alone yesterday.

I think it's going to blow right by the 1st 2 movies. Right now it's 4th all time openiing weekends. $ 107 million, and hasn't opened overseas yet. ( Big grin. ). And you should know why. There's nothing big opening next weekend, so the roll should continue. And we all know what opens next month. Why i have a big grin. I'll give you a little clue. What opens the weekend before POTC 3 ? ( Bigger Grin ) Sorry, can't help myself.

Cool! Hopefully Fox will see that the more money they invest, the more they get back.

It they're really going to try to do Silver Surfer Galactus, it should be the biggest Marvel film yet.

We're talking END OF THE WORLD here. They can't do that half-way.

That's the big q. Will Fox put out $ 210 million for FF 2, like they did for X 3 ? If they are doing Galactus, and the SS, $ 130 million is not going to cut it.

I'm sure they won't spend as much as we'd like, but hopefully it will be at least enough for a MUCH bigger looking film.

. . . and the X-Men performance can only help our chances at getting a few extra bucks thrown our way.
