I raged so hard at his cameo in X:FC.
Why wouldn't it make sense if he was short, because as far as you're concerned he isn't short? The character is short, it plays into his characterization a lot and makes him more unique as a character, like a roided out Joe Pesci.
He isn't supposed to be some damned teenage heartthrob and Origins made Jackman out almost as emo as Peter Parker in SM3.
We don't need to see strands of intestines flying but give him a bit more edge.

Come on, stop moaning about it. It's not Hugh Jackman that's crap, it's the writers that are crap.

See the problem is after the Manson scene in X2 Wolverine was mild as milk, yes the writers. Sadly Hugh is now linked to mild wolvie, and a reboot and new actor is needed to fix that perception. It would be weird seeing Hugh's Logan acting like Wolverine was intended. Just look at his
x-men fc cameo, he was more Wolverine in that one brief scene than he was in the last 2.5 x-men movies
that by it's self is sad. all that being said, I think Hugh did fine with what he was given to work with, but I would not mind seeing a new shorter wolverine sometime soon.

Nah, I think Jackman can pull it off for a little while longer.

If hugh can channel that vibe he had in that one scene into a whole next movie we might have something. It's just a damn shame it won't be with aaronofsky..

Honestly I'm not interested in seeing another Wolverine movie. His Weapon X origin is his greatest story and they ruined it in XMOW. So no I don't want to see Wolverine fighting ninjas or anything like that. If he makes it into another X-Men movie and he channels the FC attitude or his performance in the Wolverine video game, then I'd be interested. But for now I'd say I'm done with Jackman.

I think they nailed his look and personality in X-Men, but everything else, sans,
you know
, not so much. In the second movie he feels watered down in tone, despite ironically being more violent. I guess they wanted him to be more likeable, especially since he was babysitting for a large portion of the movie.

I'll give Jackman another shot, although his credibility as far as him saying what's cool is shot for me. He said XOW was going to be badass, and it wasn't. He himself even complained about X3 Wolverine being too soft, and he made him even softer in Origins. They completely butchered the weapon X part of his story...i dunno, if this next film is in an alternate continuity than the previous film, it might be salvageable; confusing...but salvageable to movie Wolverine's rep.

I think Hugh Jackman's a great Wolverine. His physical appearance really pulls it off. IMO strange as it sounds I think that nose of his fits well for the part given that the character has a sort of animalistic quality and keen sense of smell. It also gives him a bit of a snarl that works well.

My only problem is that he's overused. Even if he is a show-stealer in the sense that he's a fan favorite, the writers should know better by keeping him reserved within his appropriate place in the story so he can be appreciated within that capacity. He should not be up front and have all the focus, especially over Cyclops who's supposed to the leader (next to Xavier).

On a side note I definitely wasn't a fan of Wolverine Origins. I agree with the general critique that begged the question of why we needed to hear that story in the first place. X-Men is all about the human/mutant struggle, and the ambiguity of Wolverine's past and the pains he endured served within the bigger picture as a dark omen of the direction those human/mutant relations were heading. Wolverine Origins was about... well... Wolverine.. as if he didn't get enough attention in the other three films.

Hugh is the right guy for the part. He proved it in 3 movies!
I mean, seriously, wasn't Hugh Jackman the only good thing in x-men 3?
He was still in character, he was still wolverine.

But in his origin, he sucked. He was too vanilla! Wolverine is an animal and Hugh can be an animal. Mess up his hair and his beard again! Make him look like wolverine!

Beast, Mystique, Cyclops, Rogue and Iceman were good too in X-Men 3.

Rogue, Mystique, Cyclops just was just cut very quickly. But they definitely had that emotional depth.

what people don't understand is that it is not about the looks, it's about how the character plays the role.

Jackman may be 6'3 and Danzig may look more like Wolvie but Jackman is the best Wolverine right now and unless it's someone unknown that plays him next I can't see anyother actor that would suit the role

I'd llke to keep Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.I don't want another actor playing him.

Ricky Gervais for the next wolverine incarnation!

Tremors is on TV right now and it's been years since I saw it. And I was watching it thinking, you know what, Fred Ward might have made a good Wolverine a few years ago when he was younger. He has that surly grizzly look down to a tee.

For what it's worth, I like Jackman as Wolverine. But I agree they need to bring back his harder edge. Ironically, he actually looked a bit rougher and harder in the last movie compared to his first outing in X-men, although in terms of character he was a bit softer/more emo than the very first X-men incarnation.

I actually liked Jackman's Wolverine. The problem was that the executives loved him so much that he became the focus of the series.

I don't know why we needed a Wolverine movie, were people not happy with X1 and X2?

Any character that overused can become tiring.

I like Wolverine a lot, but I think he works best as a part of an ensemble rather than a sole focal point. Which is why I was never interested in a Wolverine movie.

You know Wolverine actually has his own comic and has since 87' point is yes he is good in an ensemble but he has the clout for his own movies the same way. That being said, I wouldn't mind a new wolverine actor, someone shorter, and more gritty.

Indeed. That's why he's called wolverine. A wolverine is a vicious little animal.

If you've got the right actor it often doesn't - and shouldn't - matter, but with Wolverine I agree it's so important to the character. Similarly, you wouldn't hire a shortie to play Colossus.

Personally I'd like to see them start from scratch with X-Men - I don't have anything against Jackman but I'd like an X-movie with Wolverine as part of an ensemble cast, not the leading man.
