Couple accused of neglecting young children to surf Web, play video games
RENO, Nev. - A couple authorities say were so obsessed with the Internet and video games that they left their babies starving and suffering other health problems have pleaded guilty to child neglect.

The children of Michael and Iana Straw, a boy age 22 months and a girl age 11 months, were severely malnourished and near death last month when doctors saw them after social workers took them to a hospital, authorities said. Both children are doing well and gaining weight in foster care, prosecutor Kelli Ann Viloria told the Reno Gazette-Journal.

Michael Straw, 25, and Iana Straw, 23, pleaded guilty Friday to two counts each of child neglect. Each faces a maximum 12-year prison sentence.

wtf???

Sometimes you can't leave your level forty-two night elf. :(

What's up with two people who both play D&D Online reproducing in the first place?

Oh **** it really gets to me when **** like this happens to babys :(

They cant do anything they cant even move to look for some dust to eat :(

And you know ultimately this will be blamed on Video Games. :whatever:

This and the vegan couple = one step closer to the edge.

Exactly. People just love to blame other things instead of requiring others to take personal responsibility for their own actions. As someone who works in the gaming industry, I see this kind of non-sensical blame ALL the time.

I think a similar thing happened in South Korea, but the parents were playing Starcraft

Yeah I remember that, that's what I thought of when I saw the tittle of this thread. Damn we're starting to adopt their tendencies.

I'm just waiting for that troll Lieberman to use this in some anti-video game thing.

this has happened before, i heard about it with world of warcraft, some people should abort. its obvious.

So they were intelligent enough to figure out what sex is, bump uglies twice, and have two children...but then they're blind, deaf, and dumb when it comes to taking care of them? What the hell were these people doing throughout their education...?

bump uglies

Ah. Now I've figured it out.

"Roll one D-6 for conception."
*rolls*
"Conception succeeds."

^The guy on the left at least looks like he has a notion of what food looks like.

What in the world? Did they ever take the time to get THEMSELVES food? They couldn't have picked up some baby formula while they were at it?

I firmly believe that people in their 20's should not be allowed to conceive. Even get married. People in their 20's are just way to stupid, & still discovering what life is all about. How is a person supposed to raise a child. If they don't even know who they are?

I don't believe 20's is the problem....in some cases yes....but you can say that in all age brackets.....I think it's just simply the maturity and sense of responsibility by each individual......some people just should never have children.....

I've come to learn here that if you're stupid at 20 you're just as liable to pass down your stupidity to your impressionable children as much as if you're stupid at 40. The age barrier does not always ensure wisdom- otherwise, we'd always convene with people easily itching on their 90's for our answers.

I agree. The thing is I believe there are few people that can raise a child properly in their 20's. You don't read much about things like this happening to people who are in their 30's, & up.

Wait, I have a kid!? *runs into living room* Not again! :csad:
