BACK TO THE PAST: Smallville Pilot/Season 1 Promo Questions

kinda funny how the dynamic changed later in the series, eh? :whatever:

:whatever:

Yeah, Chloe's totally the only one who's done that.

Err.. no, that's a real photoshoot. Why would it be fake? :hehe:
I said that because I'd never seen that photo before, and because it's utterly ridiculous! I mean, like, really. Wow. Terrrrrrrrible, hahaha. Glad it was posted.

It's really fun/ny to see the marketing materials go from teen drama ensemble to the superhero show.

Did my joke offend you in some way?
Jeeze.

No Chloe's not the only person who's stolen the spotlight from the -star- of the show. However in most cases, at least there were a few characters pulling away the plot lines from the person the show is about. Unfortunately all those characters are gone now. So it was only chloeville for awhile. (side note, she's also the only character to go from a obvious background focus, as displayed by season one promotional materials to being what the show is about, for some reason)

They have however, I feel rectified this the last few years. The show has been more about Clark. Which it should have been all along. For a few years there, it didn't feel like the story was even about him anymore.

The show shouldn´t be even titled Smallville anymore, it doesn´t make sence since it doesn´t take place in smallville.

No, but the constant, never ending Chloe hate annoys the **** out of me, especially in this case, when Lex and Lana have had way more repeat offences than Chloe.

I don't know, man. They certainly did have an awful lot of glory stealing. But then they both left. And then Chloe started stealing entire seasons.

But for the record, i'm sure the constant, never ending Chloe warship bothers me just as much as the hate bothers you.

But to hell with it, man. I'm not having another Chloe battle.
I love Allison. I think she's a fantastic actress. I hate what they've done with her character since season 4. That's all from me.

I think it's more acceptable for Lex and Lana because from the beginning they were part of the big three. Clark was the star, but they were the supporting leads. That's what the show was built on. Chloe was only meant to be a supporting cast member. I believe that all changed once Pete left, so Chloe had to act as Clark's trustworthy, go-to friend, especially after she found out his secret. With that said, aside from Clark, just about every other character has gone through the "what should we do with them next?" saga by the writers where they go through their own arcs just so they can have something to do, for ex, Lana from season 4 on. Which sucks because they we have to deal with characters going through things that act more as a filler and time waster. Now after Lex and Lana left, Chloe had to be bumped up, not because she was an important character, but because she was the only one left on the show, so in a way she kinda earned the second role just by her time on the show. Of course this is the same for Lois in S10 since Chloe's time is less, but like ED said she's been given 22 episodes because she outlived everyone else.

I'm not a Chloe-hater or anything, but it does get annoying when a secondary character gets more news and fan-questions posted then the star, especially when that secondary character only got a bigger role because the other bigger leads left. Plus, the producers said themselves that they're big Chloe fans,so it's almost like they're admitting that they care more about her.

wow, Chloe is hated by most of the smallville fans and still the producers don´t get that they should get her out of the schow.

And you obviously do, since you're the official spokeperson of all the millions of SV fans out there.

How about staying on topic instead of derailing the thread into a Chloe debate.

i also thought of that before but stiill i think that they should have renamed the serie.

I started watching this from season 2 or 3. It's hard to remember. I borrowed the first season from my uncle and my family watched it, and we've been watching it since. :D It's going to be so weird when it ends. All the shows I wait to come back on are ending/over. :(

I remember they showed a promo of the kents finding clark and I think at the end it showed that tagline every story has a beginning. Thats when I knew they were telling the story of supermans origins. Smallville is the first show I have been watching since the beginning.

I remember watching the promo for the first time. It just appeared on TV, but I remember what I said though, "They're making a Superman show, HE DOESN'T EVEN LOOK LIKE SUPERMAN"....... and now here I am 10 years later in a Smallville thread lol, man I'm old.

What made me know that it was about Superman was when I saw "Smallville" title across the screen. I remember the last shot of the promo, Clark (who back than when I first saw the promo thought he was Asian) appears in a corn field, with the camera focusing on his face, and than he super speeds across the corn field.

Same here and just think I remember looking foward to watching the pilot. It is amazing to think I was 18 when I started watching SV.

well i am a semi avid superman fan. so i knew this show was about a young teenage clark kent when it started out.

I heard about it and knew it was about Superman, but decided not to watch initially because I thought they were going to ruin it.

Boy, was I wrong, I thnk they got it right.

Well, mostly right: the occasional fat sucking and exploding baby episode aside.

yea sure the show hasnt been perfect but it still has had many good things in my opinion to outwiegh the bad things.

Give me fat sucking any day over Clark being depressed as hell and all mopey, hating his life, blaming himself for everything. I will agree with you on exploiding babies

I thought this was a cool video showing the opening credits from the past nine seasons at the same time. It's cool to see just how much things have changed.

I've been watching since the pilot. Initially, I had no idea the WB was actually airing a Superman origin show until I stumbled on their website. I was checking up on my usual Buffy the Vampire Slayer updates and saw the first promo image of Clark, Lex and Lana together and watched the first teaser trailer. I've been with the show ever since. Although I've always been a Superman fan.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the wall of weird start out in a closet at the school?

It was in a small room that looked like no one knew about it aside from Chloe and Pete, so I guess yea it was some closet or something.

hard to believe this show came out in the summer of 2001

i was starting my junior year of high school; 16 at the time

now, i'm 25 and a college grad

man, time sure does fly
