The part that concerns SSM says

While both Yost and Rollman will currently politely duck out regarding their company’s recent acquisition by Disney (the deal hasn’t been approved yet), admit that “Spectacular Spider-Man” is done and over and not comment on the status of BET’s “Black Panther” series, they still see their future as incredibly rosy. As Rollman points out, the time is just perfect for superhero entertainment.

What do you think? I personally refuse to believe until Greg states something, but who knows...

I don't care about the Black Panther but serious Spectacular Spider-Man needs to continue. There's a lot to be told yet. I don't get it Spidey is succes GUARANTEED, very popular character and animated show. In 2011, Spider-Man 4 and Thor are in the cinemas and both should be supported with an DTV and animated series.

Wait until Greg says something...or at least until they air all of the episodes (when are they going to air the final Goblin arc) However it would be very stupid of Disney to waste all that time and effort getting that show on their channel and not doing anything with it...

Times like this make me wish that the show was still on CW4kids. I think they would have actually renewed it. One thing that puzzles me is that Wolverine and the X-Men got a second season renewal before it even aired in the states. What determines that and why haven't they done it with this show? (since the only place in the world who haven't aired all of the episodes is the US)

^This ruined my day too. Also ruined my faith in Marvel and my faith in everything logical.

Weird that they'd say that, especially since the series hasn't finished airing.

well i to would want to see what greg has to say, plus he has said we will likely not know what is happening to once all the season 2 episodes have aired on DXD. Plus i am sure they would rather keep this show going to cash in on spider-man 4 craze in 2011. Then doing some new ****. Plus what does/did yost/rolliman(?) have to do with TSSM.

Just another thought it would be very smart of marvel/disney to keep the show around. First its well liked, and does well in ratings. The character is hugely popular. It has critical praise. Plus it would be easier to continue this show and have the spider-man character cashing in on the upcoming 4th film. Disney would be fools if they dont continue the show. I would be pissed to see superhero squad which i only saw like 2 episodes of continue more then TSSM. When this show has great actors, good crew, wonderful stories and action. It has everything any network would want.

Though i will wait and see from what Greg has to say and what disney has to say once the final few episodes do air on DXD. Which we only got a few more weeks of right. Sure right now to that Yost/rollman guy they probably think its dead since their hasnt been any talk about the show for awhile. Plus since we know all the crew been off the show since feb. But we have known from Greg disney is waiting to see how ratings do with the rest of the season. Before they commit to more or not.

Plus even/when the show is picked up for more. I would think they might order up two seasons worth. Since we know it will take a few months to write scripts and then a few more months to time it would air. If they were given the order for more in like 3 weeks. We likely wouldnt see new episodes hitting to late fall 2010. Plus i would think they would probably go like like 6 episodes in the fall, then hold off the second half to spring to catch the whole sm4 craze in may 2011. Then if production was given 2 season order at the same time. They could likely have the following season start a short while later like late summer/early fall 2011.

I started watching this show like a month ago, just watching reruns on Disney XD. It's really a great series, I can't believe they'd stop just after season 2. That's crazy! Plus I'm a little more disappointed because they were going to have some Carnage and Hobgoblin in S3 if it happened. Going to try and pick up the dvd's soon so I can watch them in order. :D

The fact that Greg himself sounded not very enthusiastic at all in the last podcast interview made it clear for me that this show is alredy canceled. They just don't talk about it oficially, it will be sonn forgotten and as if it never existed.
Yeah... that's the world we live in, deal with it.

This is terrible news. I hope this is not true. Like Webhead, I'll wait to hear what Greg has to say about this, and besides, season two hasn't even finished airing yet.

This would be the second decent Weisman series to die prematurely. Gargoyles was the first.

Ahem...

Marvel Animation Age caught up with The Spectacular Spider-Man supervising producer/story editor Greg Weisman concerning the "done and over with" comment apparently made in regards to the current status of the The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series. The comment, made by Marvel Animation President Eric Rollman and Chris Yost and featured in a recent Marvel Animation-focused interview at Newsarama, resulted in a massive fan outcry for the series. Weisman had the following to say, as seen below.

"I don't know what to say," says Weisman. " Last I heard Disney XD was waiting to see how the series did in the November sweeps."

"If Eric [Rollman] and Chris [Yost] know for certain it's dead, it's news to me," he continues. "But they are insiders at Marvel, and I'm an insider at... well... nowhere, really."

He concludes, "I still hold out some hope that we'll make more The Spectacular Spider-Man episodes, but of course that decision is way out of my hands..."

When asked to elaborate, Marvel Animation President Eric Rollman told Marvel Animation Age that "no decisions have been made either way" regarding the fate of the series, adding that he appreciates the showing of support for The Spectacular Spider-Man. As of now, there appears to be no official confirmation on the status of The Spectacular Spider-Man, but stay tuned for further updates.

It's sad to see the fate of this great show still in limbo. None of us really know what's going on behind the scenes but there is always a business side to these things and even when there is massive outcry for a series and support from fans there are usually other factors that come into play. Reasons we probably will never know sad to say.

This completely ruined my day.

Something really really weird is going on here. This is SPIDERMAN we're talking about, marvel's most popular character, wouldn't it be a no-brainer to renew this show?? And why the F*** isnt MARVEL promoting this show?? I've seen absolutely no promotion on their part for the show. They promote the hell outa Ironman armored adventures and Wolverine and the Xmen but not Spectacular. Like i said, something very fishy is going on.

Because it was clear to them that the show is canceled even from the moment it moved to XD. The moment the first season ended every talk about it died.
Even before the second season started to air in UK or Bulgaria I knew that it's dead, the podcast just confirmed it to me... and now it's getting official (kinda).
But who needs this show, when we can have Spider-Man in a 'show' like Superhero Squad or whatever and have 5 seasons of it... and why?.. o yes.. because it's cheep!

Exactly! This is freakin pissing me off. This is considered one of the greatest animated series in years, and they shrug off like it's nothing.

Terrible, terrible, terrible news overall. I just can't believe it.

Guys, it had two amazing seasons that in my mind was much better than three feature films.

It ended with a bang, and it left questions unanswered, yes, but it was still the most amazing animated series that I have ever watched, minus Batman:TAS.

It might end, but hey, at least they'll be repeats.

^^ 2 AMAZING seasons, yes, but it could have lasted MUCH MUCH longer than that. 6 seasons is what they were aiming for.

Yeah but even from a business standpoint it makes no sense. Spiderman 4 is coming summer 2011, a year and a half from now, wouldnt marvel want a cartoon to have on the air by then to cash in on? If they start from scratch now and make a new one, the show prolly wont air till 2012 at least. Why not just renew the one they already have? Plus, isnt spectacular pretty much the only good show on Disney XD?
