Russell Mulcahy Takes Bait
Source: The Hollywood Reporter May 14, 2009

Russell Mulcahy will write and direct Bait, a 3-D action adventure shark movie.

The Hollywood Reporter says the project, set to begin filming on Australia's Gold Coast this year, will be co-produced by Arclight Films and Australia's Limelight.

The film is set in a coastal town where a freak tsunami floods and traps shoppers in a supermarket with an armed maniac and a pack of hungry tiger sharks that have been washed into the building.

I can't tell if this sounds like it might be interesting or so bad/cheesy it's good...or just bad. :(

"Bait 3D" Is Sharks In An Aussie Supermarket

By Garth Franklin Friday May 27th 2011 03:14PM

More shark attacks occur on the eastern coast of Australia than practically anywhere else in the world. Now, they're stalking the local Coles & Woolworths.
Forget that "Shark Night 3D" rubbish, filmmaker Russell Mulcahy ("Highlander," "Resident Evil: Extinction") has gone one better with "Bait 3D" which centers on, wait for it, sharks in a supermarket. It's "The Mist" meets "Deep Blue Sea".
Mulcahy has also managed to assemble a local cast with a bit more star power than the unknowns in 'Night' - including "Nip/Tuck" star Julian McMahon, "Eclipse" hunk Xavier Samuel, Sharni Vinson ("Step Up 3D"), Dan Wyllie ("Animal Kingdom"), Alice Parkinson ("Sanctum") Phoebe Tonkin and Lincoln Lewis (both "Home and Away" and "Tomorrow When the War Began").
The premise? In a sleepy Queensland beach community, shoppers at an underground supermarket are taken hostage by a crazed bandit. So far, so western suburbs. Then a freak tsunami swallows the town and the rushing water threatens to entomb them. Worse, the wave has brought a pack of hungry great white sharks.
Sound ridiculous? When floods ravaged Queensland back in January, the media played up reports of unconfirmed sightings of bull sharks swimming through the flooded streets of Ipswich. It's a stretch, but I've heard stranger.
/Film seems to have come upon an early promo trailer

Oz-ploitation?!? Sign me up!

I thought this was about that old jamie foxx movie.

This looks better than I thought! Even though it's a complete rip off from Deep Blue Sea, which I loved :P I will definately watch this!
