There's always a band everyone seems to like -or at least most of your friends- but you just can't stand them. Or just ignore them. I could give a few examples: like Jamiroquai. Or Beck. And I read for years how awesome they are/were..

What bands/artists you just can't get into, no matter what..?

The Dead.

All punk bands beside a few pop/punk bands.

Springsteen.

Lynard Skynard  Don't know why.....just wasn't all that crazy about their music.

Them and Linkin Park. All my friends *totally* assured me I would just love them. I indeed did not.

while i totally recognize their talent, and certain songs i'll always sing along to, i never really could get into Queen.

^ Thank you, I always get flame for saying that. Also, Paramore which I think they're not even good.

:oldrazz: Just kidding there! I can understand your not getting into them....Queen isn't everyone's cup of tea! Personally, I love them, but I know there are plenty of people who don't!

^ and they're missing out :o

It seems to me that a lot of people like them just because everyone likes them, sort of like The Beatles. They're universal, so they have to be liked.

Liking something just because *most* people do is stupid..

Sure. Most people like Queen's *big* hits. We Will Rock You. We are the Champions. But if that's all that one listens to, they are missing out on what the band was truly like. And when most people listen to their other works, they decide they don't like it as much as the "massive hits!" One of my favorite Queen albums is The Miracle, which is pretty much slammed by fans of the group, (and non-fans too!) I don't like them because of their popular songs....I like the little obscure ones that the average listener has never heard before.

Having said all that, though, I can really understand people not liking them. But as [A] said, I think those people are missing out. I'm just biased, really! :o:o

Yeah, well that happens to a lot of bands out there and it's really unfortunate. What really frustrates me is that they call themselves *fans* without ever listening to the band's full album. I think my dad has that album so I might check it out since I've only listened to the Greatest Hits one..

The Beatles. Honestly, I like some of their music, but stylistically, they're too all over the place for me. Bubblegum pop to deep soulful music to flat out weird crap.

-U2. I like plenty of bands they influenced, but don't really care for them.

-I'm a big punk fan, but I think The Sex Pistols are terrible.

-I don't like Nirvana exceptionally well, but they're ok. As far as grunge goes, I'd much rather listen to Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, or Alice in Chains.

Ooh, I forgot Nirvana...back when I was in school, they were the *big* thing to listen too. There was one song of theirs I thought was ok, can't even remember the name of it, but I never really got into their stuff.

I'm never ever gonna understand why Nickleback are popular and Kid Rock as well. They just sound aweful to me.

Also Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, Ryan Adams, Elvis Costello, Lilly Allen, Taylo Swift and Dave Matthews Band.

Almost every county artist and all those whiney pop punk bands with dudes wearing eyeliner thinking they are edgy on kerrang.

Oasis and Robbie Williams. British music press go nuts over these guys for some reason when they are both meh

^^i'd agree with all of that except for elvis costello. he is so amazing!

I don't hate Costello I've just never been able to get into his stuff

Elvis
The Rolling Stones
The Beatles
The Grateful Dead
Aerosmith
Bon Jovi
Nirvana
Pearl Jam
Dave Matthews

I got some more

Pink Floyd
I know people who are huge fans of them, including my parents, and I just don't get it.
It's probably too slow for my taste. I mean, I think it's brilliant music, I just don't get this feeling "I want to listen to some Pink Floyd" like I do with the Beatles or The Who.

Jimi Hendrix- Technically amazing but it just doesnt do anything for me...

Bob Dylan- I dont get it.

The only song, by both of them, that I truly love is "All Along the Watchtower". I've listened to other stuff by them and nothing really does it for me but that one song.

I honestly don't understand this particular problem. If you said you just didn't like them as a whole or whatever I would understand that, but to dislike them because they actually stretch themselves creatively and do different types of things is what I don't understand. That's what all bands should do.

I mean, you like different types of music I assume, I don't see how that can be a critisism you can ever level at a band.
Maybe if you said, 'they have so much of a diverse output I don't know where to begin to get into them' i could understand that, but to dismiss an artist because they diversify, I don't get it. Sorry, not trying to pick on your opinion, it just baffles me.

Anyway, out of the cultural big hitters I am supposed to like but can't stand and find boring, my top two are
The Clash - apart from Rockin the Casbah
The Jam - I have to switch off their songs when they come on the radio, they annoy me.

Led Zeppelin I can enjoy sometimes and get a kick out of, other times I can find them unimaginative bores, I really do flip 360 on those guys.

edit: forgot about The Who, I find them boring too, despite their exciting hard rock, good songwriting rep.

Nirvana

Creed - I will never understand how these untalented morons ever became as successfull as they did.
