Today is the 20th Anniversary of Tim Burton's Batman. Love it or hate it you can't deny that it changed the genre forever. Without this movie we wouldn't have gotten all the "serious" superhero/comic book adaptations we got this decade.

Crazy how times flies I was 15 then and can remember it like it was yesterday, the line for the movie was around the corner and every where was Batmania ......good times

This may have been the first movie I ever saw. I was 2.

I used to adore this movie as a kid. I loved almost everything about it back then. Nowadays the thrill is gone a little, but I still appreciate it. It really was innovative, and it gets much props for being the first "dark" Batman on screen. It's not by accident that every movie incarnation of Batman has worn a variation of the black suit that this movie started with. :brucebat:

With TDK and STM, one of the three pillars of the genre for me. A masterpiece.

Back in the day - and even up to today - this was probably the movie I have seen the most.

The first time I saw it 3 times in a row. I was 15.

I remember one year later some little theaters were still showing Batman along with other movies and I would go and watch it once again. I didn't have a VHS then so those were the only times I could see it.

Yes. Good times.

EDIT:

Look at this. I found it like 2 years ago. Funny and nostalgic. Special for the occasion.

It still has the best replay value of any of the films imo.

Even Nolan was quoted as saying it was great. And, Christian Bale, back when he was being considered for Wolfgang Peterson's Batman vs Superman in 2002 said that he was a fan of the movie.

I love it, still and forever. I'm going to watch it tonight. Thanks for reminding me Catman.

this movie was just so perfect from the cast to the design and down to the soundtrack

T...twenty years old?

My god. Now I feel sorry for Back to the Future.

It was great in it's day when I was in my teens and a huge fan, but it hasn't aged very well visually.

I still enjoy this film a lot.

I was probably only 8 when it came out and don't recall seeing it in the theatres but watched it on a daily basis growing up with my friends. Even if we were doing something else like playing with action figures or video games we still had the movie playing on another TV in the room.

I was not born yet when it came out but still a great film. My favorite Batman film until Dark Knight came out.

Sadly, we wouldn't have gotten a lot of the bad ones either.
It was the summer I turned 17. I remember so vividly. We didn't go opening weekend, but like a week later. And customers buying tickets for anything else got to go right in. Customers wanting "Batman" had to go around the corner & get in a line about a half a block long. But I felt it was worth it. I ate it up. I bought the soundtrack, I bought trading cards, I bought a bunch of 32 oz. collector's cups from Taco Bell, I even bought a bootleg t-shirt from a street hustler (the term "Hustleman" hadn't been coined yet) & WB cracked down on those people about a week later.

I'm tired of hearing heath blew jack nicholsons joker out of the water. It's two different director's visions and both actors fit perfectly in their roles but it wouldnt work vice versa.

Agreed.

This movie was an event. I don't think there has ever been a groundswell like the one that surrounded it. I really liked it. It didn't quite live up to the hype, but the hype Warners had built around it was so huge nothing could've.

I also agree that Jack Nicholson gave an awesome performance as the Joker. The film was called Batman, but it was all about the Joker. I don't think Ledger's was better or worse, just different. Both are legitimate takes as far as I'm concerned. I also liked Cesar Romero and Mark Hamill's Jokers too.

this movie IMO was perfect on so many levels

Amen!

I liked the scene where Joker comes into Viki's house and says the same thing as Bruce Wayne. That was awesome

so much of what Jack Nicholson said is quotable
