It struck me a while back that a lot of superheroes are late bloomers. Cyclops, for example, was a street urchin for a number of years before even running into a woman his own age, Jean Grey, at age 18...and it was a while before they officially found each other. Spider-Man was the nerdiest kid in his class, and didn't really come out of his shell until College. Wolverine never managed to hook up with his "cousin" before killing her, and wandering the Canadian outback as an amnesiac, and he probably doesn't remember his first anyways. However the biggest card carrying virgin to me seemed to be the young Bruce Wayne, and who can blame him? His parents are killed when he is a mere child, and the next years of his life are spent in basic seculsion.

According to The Man Who Falls, despite his wealth, Bruce wasn't exactly popular at school. He stayed just long enough to get the information he needed, then promptly left in a very antisocial fashion. It even touched upon his loneliness in comparison to his peers. Even in Batman Begins he shuns the advances of Rachel Dawes, living basically in his bulter's care. We can assume Bruce developed a sex life, if for nothing else than cover, after he returned from his travels abroad...but he was away for a long, long time. The man is dedicated, I'll give him that, but is he also sexually frustrated. It seems to me he's not the kind of guy who...ahem...relaxes much.

I think that they do this so we can relate to the characters alot more, the cliche is that people who read comic books are virgins or don't get any. Which is very far from the truth in some cases.

I don't think it's that well thought out, honestly.

In fact I'd think younger kids would prefer characters who were more sexually active, not less.

Was there supposed to be a strong chastity element to Batman Begins? I know this is the innnocent Katies Holmes but when Bruce comes back to Gotham and spy's on her there's a clear saving herself for Bruce thing going on. Which then is left until she spurns him at the end, Bruce's sexual interest pretty much coming out of nowhere. Now that Maggie's playing her it's clearly going to give off a more relaxed "I finally got laid by Harvey Dent" feel to it, and Bruce is left as the puppy dog wanting to settle down with her. It's very confused

You know, this may seem weird, but what if he used that to his advantage? Batman's supposed to be a manifestation of Bruce's psyche that's made up of all of his pent up rage and frustration over the injustice of his parents' murder and Gotham's corruption, among other things. Maybe he literally holds himself back in order to add to the intensity and rage of his crimefighting.

That, and I just like the mental image of Batman beating The Joker to a bloody pulp because he's craving for some booty.

The chastity thing would also explain the white eyes. Those are not lenses.

Well, so? What if Bruce Wayne is virgin?. Doesn´t that make him stronger?. I mean obviously he is a pretty rich boy who can have any girl he wants. I don´t think he is virgin, (MOTP, Batman 89 come to my mind).

I have not read a lot of the comics, so I don't have much of an argument to stand on. But has bruce always known what he wanted to do (be a vigilante, that is)? has he always been so focused on studying and exercising that he was never attracted to a girl? I'd like to think he dated girls in college, learned how to be charismatic, but most of the relationships died fast because of his hidden intense personality. maybe he ended most of his relationships because he never felt satisfied- that had to come from somewhere else.

On the other hand, how do we know middle-aged Bruce IS sexually active? I know we see him with a lot of ladies, and girls talk, so if he didn't sleep around it would be suspicious, but I just can't see him doind one night stands.
