So I just came back at the pc after viewing B89 for the first time in atleast 10 years and by god it wasn't like I remembered it. I had to smile my way through it and keep saying to myself that it wasn't that corny at all.

But it is. The sound is awefull, the dialog seems cheesy and forced (especially Jack's lines). But the worst part is how bad batman actually came across.
I was hideously trying not to laugh every time he made an appearance in his homemade latex suit made in china doing some combat moves even Adam west could topple.

The whole situation was sort of a bitter moment for me, since I absolutely adored the movie as a child. But this made me think. Perhaps I should have left it in my memories.

Anyone else feels this way?

OMFG, I DO feel the same way! Lol!

Oh yeah, B89 sucked horribly. It was cheesier than B&R and Keaton was way too short to be a believable Batman or Bruce Wayne. And Jack Nicholson was just playing guess who? Nicholson! That wasn't the Joker, it was a fat guy in makeup being stupid. Heath ledger did way better cuz he's more evil, and is actually COMIC ACCURATE! too bad Nicholson couldn't take acting lessons from Ledger back then... he might have actually given us a character we'd like god don't you hate that

Thanks for giving us such a let-down, Burton.

Damn, what a useless hack director. Casting Keaton was a stroke of ******ation from him. I mean he's such a bad actor, and had no depth whatsoever. it's cheesy the way he acted because he just walked around and looked at people and did some unbelievably ridiculous karate moves and we're supposed to believe he could go out at night and fight criminals and be the symbol of justice for Gotham god what a joke

What a joke.

This is the thread we've been waiting for, thanks for posting it, so people can talk about what a comic inaccurate let-down it was to fans everywhere. I'm glad we have Nolan now, who actually RESPECTS the chracter and doesn't do silly crap just to insult the Batman franchise.

KEATON: "Be comic accurate! Be comic accurate NOW!"

NICHOLSON: "I can't, I'm not that good of an actor."

KEATON: "Where do you get off being permawhite, anyway?"

NICHOLSON: "I'm not comic accurate. I'm just in this cheese-fest called BATMAN (1989) for MONEy!$$$"

KEATON: "I knew it! And so am I. Batman is stupid."

NICHOLSON: "I know!"

KIM: "What a horrible script. Oh well. I'll at least be able to sleep with Jon Peters."

I thank God for allowing you to share such a detailed and well thought out review. I don't know where my life would be if I didn't spend time reading this thread.

I know, the guy really put his heart into it. He deserves to be on RottenTomatoes.

It's so eloquent that all my future visits to the hype will work around this thread.

I do, i remember seeing it before Dark Knight hitted and it was worse then i rembered as a child. :( I mean the thing i never liked was how Joker just fooled everyone to come to gotham central and he would hand over money after series of death attempts the whole city, yet most people (and not just the poor) decided to go there and having some faith on Joker. >_< Money is tempting but not that tempting if you ask me. :P

Well I still think it's a good movie, but it's flawed as hell, and the script is the biggest problem. what Drz mentioned is something I never even thought of but yeah that doesn't make much sense. Batman/Bruce Wayne wasn't developed all that well honestly. he kind of came and went, then came back again. Joker's entertaining, but in the second half of the movie he does straight up stupid stuff. When I got Batman begins on dvd three years ago, me and my brother did a double feature with it and this movie. Never again, Batman 89 really didn't come off too good.

When "BATMAN" was released, the concept of doing a dark and adult-themed Batman film was unprecedented and unheard of.

When "Batman Begins" was released, the concept of doing a dark and adult-themed Batman film was common-place and expected.

Both were great, but "BATMAN" did so much more for Comic Book Adaptations...and that fact is what puts it over top with me personally.

Yeah I know. The Pulitzer wouldn't be sufficient. Concerning your whereabouts, I was thinking some place Arkhamish.

When I first looked at this thread, I honestly thought that it would be a well thought out, good, un-biased review.

By the way, make sure that when your doing "hilarious" captions that are so spot on and so witty and so awesome that you have to post them one after another that they are actually hilarious, spot on, witty and awesome.

thedanmachine's brain took a big walk off the map with that last paragraph.

Yes, but didn't you know you weren't allowed to have a negative opinion about B89 on these boards? Prepare for the sarcastic and condescending posts to follow.

Yeah, the sarcastic and condescending posts have yet to come. All we can do is be nurturing to Soender and prepare him for this huge s#!tstorm.

No. I feel it's a classic, sorry.

Without Tim Burton's Batman some people would have thinking of Adam West show (Not I hate 60s TV series)

I like Burton's two films, they are good on their own.

you can't compare Nicholson to Ledger two separate versions of Joker.

It's really dated and the OP is somewhat right.

Although it's still a great movie.

But Keaton is totally overrated.

You are joking right? Please tell me you are joking.

What is this board now, the gestapo? you could have whatever damn opinion you want that is your god given right as a human being. Now if you could properly present your arguments through elaboration it does help. I don't think anybody cares about the opinion so much so about how that opinion is presented. If your argument is thought out and detailed all that does is encourage discussion if you have no way of properly presenting an argument then of course you'd rightly get ridiculed for wasting people's time. Message boards are not rocket science.

You need to take your sarcasm detector to the repair shop.

I'd agree with that. They are great and very cheap. Now my BS meter works like a charm :)
