Batman: Arkham Asylum

I used the lower floor + floor grate to get through that thing. The first time I did it I get my ass utterly handed to me. I had no idea how much I depended on the gargoyles until that room.

That would've been an aweful reason. I don't even understand why the cutscenes were pre-rendered in the first place. Why weren't all the cutscenes in-game?

Because whenever you stop to talk to a guard or whatever, it looks like ****. The pre-rendered cutscenes look amazing.

I didn't even like the armored suit to be honest. I was hoping it would be all-black ala the movies but it was a bit too sci-fi for me.

I saw a vid on youtube before I played the game, so I knew what to do to get the achievement. I set up explosive gels in a row throughout the room. I used my remote batarang on one row, and blew up the rest. Then I went from thug to thug ground pounding them until the remaining got back on their feet and then I had to do a regular fight.

Aw, that's boring. I just went to the guy left to me and punched him in the face. Everyone was like "What the?!" and then I had the most fun moment in the entire game.

So...once I beat the game, the Armored suited Batman will have his own section of Challenges?

Nah, I don't think so. You can just wear it during challenge mode.

The most annoying part is that your grapnel gun desperately wants to make sweet grapnel love to those gargoyles. It auto-targets them before literally anything else if they're in view, even if you're staring right at the ledge of the central building itself. Not to mention, there are so many ledges and railings that when you finally do get close enough to break your grapnel auto-target's fascination with the gargoyles, you have to be fairly precise to grapnel up to the part you actually want. I moved my right stick a tad and wound up grappling onto ledges and getting spotted a few times early on.

Yeah I made the same goof-up myself. You can still use the gargoyles to glide from (provided you jump ship as soon as you've latched on) but I lost more health than I'd care to admit from hooking onto a gargoyle by accident.

****ing Joker. :cmad:

Thankfully that's the only time they showed up. Outside of the extreme predator modes.

And damn, I honestly feel like I don't have the patience to get the awards for those challenges.

Btw, who got the Trophy 'Party Pooper'? I had a laugh when I got that one. :D

Lol! I entered the hallway and accidentally tried to open the door I came from, thinking that's where Joker was. I thought the thugs were playing a prank, so I punched one of them in the face. 18 bodies later, I got the achievement.

Am I the only one who didn't get the party pooper trophy :csad:

When I start a new game and get to that point I'm going in and punching the first thug in the face before I even hear applause :cmad:

I swore to God I got an acheivement last night that said "One Man Gang Bang" or something like that. Then again I was on Sam Adams #7 at that point.

lmfao...:hehe:

Nah, u are nearing the end man.

cool. I expect to beat it tonight when I get back home, then.

Btw...the Scarecrow totally gave me a mind****.

I swore that my PS3 had frozen on me and reset.

Greatest mind**** in a game since Psycho Mantis in MGS1.

Haha, yea for a second there my hear skipped and i was like crap, but all was good. That was my favorite part of the game. Really cool stuff.

So, has anyone managed to string together a 40-hit combo yet?
I managed to get one in the Extreme Sewer Bat combat challenge. I got into a nice groove bouncing from one enemy to the next and the next thing I knew, everyone was on the floor, the round was over, and my combo counter was at like 45 or 46.

Yeah, I've yet to get in that good a rythm. But, interesting to me that the more thugs, the more the combat seems to shine in this game.

Absolutely. I don't know if you've figured this out already, but the easiest way to rack up a high combo is to just strike one thug, then move to another, then move to another, and keep doing that so you're constantly putting them down and not giving them a chance to gang up or attack you.

Oh, and here's something that confused me: Do the combat challenges scale to your difficulty setting? I thought they did, but then I started a hard game and tried a combat challenge after playing through the story for a while, and the thugs had the little blue warnings, even though they don't in story mode.

So what combat moves do you guys like the most?

I have two that i just cant get enough of, the first is when Bats uses his heel to crack a kneeling thug in the jaw and the other is a counter where Batman takes a pipe from a thugs grip, hits em in the gut then cracks em over the head. The sound of it is just great.

Explosive fist. That needs to be a regular move in the next game. :o
