Batman: Arkham Origins - Part 4

I think that kind of challenge is stupid. What if your mom, friend, wife or kid needs help with something that's not life threatening but would really help them and you're 11 hours in? It's fine making it one life...just allow saves so you can take a break for as long as needed. Games shouldn't encourage such long play in one go either. Health matters too.

The game is awesome though & I played on PS3 not PS4 lol sorry. Shame as the PS3 controller is crap compared to the PS4's. :woot:

No one is being forced to take on the mode; it's a response to all of the critics (some on past threads here,) who bemoaned the ease of Arkham City. I am not saying the solution is the best, but, it does seem to be an answer to all of the Darksouls prodigies who expect every game to be a miserable experience for those who do not have the time nor skill to reach said skill.

It's likely to show up there the only thing the Wii U will be missing is the mp. Which half the fan base seem fine with since they're still those screaming it's taking away from more story DLC etc, when they make a comment so.....

Yeah im fine with no mp. There are rumors it'll only be 50 instead of 60. I'll be getting the wii u

Ya know, for the most part, Arkham Origins looks pretty good. Don't have really any complaints. But I am worried about one thing.

Will we be able to replay the new game +?

One of the biggest most annoying flaws in Arkham City was that you couldn't replay new game + once you beat it, you always had to restart from scratch. So is that going to be an issue again here? Can you only play NG+ once?

As I said just about two weeks ago now, to dock Ock senior producer Ben mattes told victor in his vices basement pod cast when they came to see them before their trip to Tokyo and there was a party as they said when they were talking to them that the game is bug and glitch free so you're not likely to run into that so they claim.

We'll have see what happens when the games released. they threw a party for that.

But that's not really what you're saying here this is more on how they designed the game. And my mind wandered there in a flaw that was there as if it wasn't intended by rock steady. sorry.

Including a save option doesn't make it less difficult if you still have one life but it stops a lot of people unnecessarily playing with their health and other commitments for a game. And I love the game from what I've played, seems like a noticeable improvement on Arkham City when many would have been satisfied with more of the same. I'm not criticising the guys who made the game at all but this kind of policy is dumb wherever it's implemented.

I'm also not saying anyone's being forced to play this, it's that they would WANT to try it. There are a lot of people who have collected every collectible and completed every challenge on the previous Arkham games who will want to get everything again but now they will need almost a whole day when pretty much everything else in their lives has to not matter. What do they expect the hardcore Arkham fans with young families to do? A save option makes all the difference.

yeah well there was some one that wanted that in marvel heroes before they revamped their forums and he explained he was a fighter type gamer and was also into dark soles and he had to explain this after he suggests his over punishing idea that was similar but tougher than even this when other in the forum went nuts on him for his overly punishing idea. Some people like the challenge so they can claim they reached the area few others can reach and then there are some people that are just plain nuts with these things and don't realize some other people don't have the time for this realize of thing and just want to enjoy their game realize is different.

I think anyone who likes Arkham City will like this. Asylum was a different style of course but this feels like a better version of AC.

But I am worried about one thing.

I hope so too. Once you're done with campaign games they should let you replay with everything maxed out. You've earned it by then and it can be the most fun part.

What notable differences did you see with this and AC?

I mean I always imagine Arkham City would have had a "relaunch new game +" option when you selected the icon. But nope...

We'll have to see if WBM did some thing different there for a change then.

This is why I should have a twitter account.

From what I saw the DC video game side is just as active on Facebook as they are twitter. (Marvels video game side that's mostly on twitter but that's another thing) But if you want to speak with the director like Eric Holmes, yeah I can see why you'd say that. I mean if you really wanted to make sure you'd reach him with your concerns.

I don't have a Facebook either. Lol so I guess I'll just have to wait for the answer after the release. :(

It's very similar to Arkham City in look and gameplay. I played a section where you're free to glide around the city as if you're in the middle of the game and interrupt random events or proceed to the next story marker at your leisure fighting rooftop thugs along the way. The story section utilised the same tried & trusted variation of techniques (probably were more available that I didn't test) to clear out a large room with henchmen, a boss and armed guards. All those things worked in exactly the same way. It definitely looks better although the visual style seems almost identical, but not as much of a jump graphically as from Asylum to City. It feels smoother & that much more polished and the combat feels (even) more fluent. Certainly miles ahead of Asylum's combat having just played that game again.

There was nothing particularly different of note in the 15 minutes I played that gave away that this was a different game apart from the cutscene and Black Mask's thugs (who look great). It just felt like a technically superior and perfectly tuned Arkham City which made it more fun throughout without any base concept change that I noticed in those 15 minutes.

@ericholmeslive Is the 'no save' thing for I Am The Night mode just no retries? Or do we really have to finish it in one sitting?

@tan_jeremy You can save. You just can't die - or you go back to the start.

So when you die does it wipe the save? Because I don't see what would stop you from just reloading it and not having to start from scratch.

So you gotta save as you progress that's basically he's saying....

I got the two previous games soon after they launched but I think I'm gonna wait for a GotY edition with this. I'll still be playing GTA and PS4 comes out a few weeks later so I won't have time for this

I was going to pick up the Xbox One on launch, but after consideration, I have decided I will pick one up when the Arkham sequel is released.

Alright good that's fine then on the challenge.

I hope the final boss fight isn't super difficult then as it's going to suck having 12 hours of gameplay behind you all gambled on that showdown. :woot: I'll need to get controller and window insurance before I give that one a go.

This would be quite awesome, it is really cool having only to focus on the main story, not having to get all the collectibles and at the same time, playing at a harder level.

Batman Arkham ‏@BatmanArkham 12m A new character will be revealed tomorrow...
