Any idea who thought up this ridiculous title?

"Mantle" didn't suit them? Something that had something to do with bats?

They had to call this "Battle for The Cowl"?

Because he wants to be Bruce Wayne? Or he wants to kill anyone who dares to "become the next Batman". We don't truly know yet.

Interestingly enough, he did try to steal Bruce's life in a way in the Heart of Hush arc in Detective. He even looks like Bruce, with the exception of a few scars.

Yep, and we will see Hush vs. Catwoman in the next Detective comics. :)

I'm still pissed that B-man is suppossedly dead.

Would you stop it

Batman has never been dead, was never going to be dead, is not dead. He's stuck in a machine with some monkey guy pulling the levers. I hate to play Morrison Said again but seriously Morrison said his fate would be WORSE than death, and he said this ages ago. and if you read RIP you would've noticed Bruce writes an entry in the casebook after the helicopter crash. would all you fishes stop whinging for him please

I think the only actual participants are going to be Dick, Tim, and Jason with Selina as a side character.

Grant was quoted as saying that Azrael would be coming back in the near future.

Anyone have any ideas where that may go?

If Azrael comes back then it would only be to have his ass handed to him by one of the actual possible successors.

I'm fairly sure Hush will be going for it too, but with much darker motives.

"Batman: R.I.P." and FINAL CRISIS saw the end of Batman. Now, months following the disappearance of her protector, Gotham City sits at a precipice and it may be too far gone for Nightwing, Robin, Commissioner Gordon and the rest of the city's heroes to save the day. Amid the fires, rioting, looting and gang warfare, one question rings out from the souls of Gotham's desperate citizens: Where is Batman?

With guest-stars galore, the destruction of a sacred Gotham City institution and an ending that will have everyone talking, this 3-issue miniseries event written and drawn by Tony Daniel (The Tenth) features the battle to take on the Mantle of the Bat. Who has earned the right? Who thinks they deserve it? Robin? Nightwing? Jason Todd? Two-Face? Catwoman? Batgirl? Who will ultimately win the BATTLE FOR THE COWL?

Retailers please note: This issue will ship with two covers. For every 10 copies of the Standard Edition (with a cover by Tony Daniel), retailers may order one copy of the Variant Edition (with a cover by Tony Daniel). Please see the Previews Order Form for more information.

I am Batman!

From left to right (note: this is my opinion on who is who):
Tim Drake, then we get Harley and Alfred. Dick Grayson on the mittle and then we got the red/black Batman which is Harvey Two-face (just zoom in to his face and you can see the scarred face). And then we have a gun blazing Batman, could this be Deadshot? =P Then theres Batwoman, Damian and by the looks of it, the Bruce Wayne having paper-wrappings is a strong hint for him being Hush, but the question is: What hint is the arm coming from Wayne Enterprises box?

I'm torn between labeling the gun toting Batman as Jason Todd or Lane. I could see it going either way.

Heres some questions and clues more:
- The Batman on the left of the closet, we believe its Dick Grayson but the question arises why does he have a Red Robin belt? Could he actually be Jason Todd? But then comes my overanalizing that Alfred is looking suspiciously at him. :P

- Harley Quinn's glove that holds the gun is blue, could it be a joke that she will fight for the cowl too? =D

- I honestly believe the gun wielder has to be Deadshot, even the Bat symbol on his chest have gun bullets, it has to be him!

it's not Deadshot. He's with the secret six and he'd have no motive what so ever to be Batman. Azrael uses those kinds of materials on his costumes so it's either him or Jason.
