I'd revise the origin story of Batman Begins if you ask me. Why do you ask? Well for one, the whole 'you've travelled around the world' bit, I never felt its the magnitude. I'd use these places to give the audience a sense of a long journey, China, Japan and England. Hardly the whole world I know, but they all have one thing in common, they are big places. I also did not like the fact that Ras Al Ghul was actually henri ducard and vice versa. I'd start the movie this way:
1) The Waynes are coming out of the theater with their young son, a vivid and energetic little boy of 9. We dont know that they are the Waynes yet, just a random family. They get cornered by a man, we see his face, but not clearly, we see it in the shade. Martha stare's at the man in fear, making him uncomfortable, he points the gun at her, Thomas struggles and gets shot in the chest, blood flows. Martha and the child scream, the man shoots the woman in the abdomen. The child screams louder. The man points the gun at the child while both of them stare at eachother dead in the face, but the man cannot pull the trigger and runs away. The child kneels to the floor, shaking and eyes filled with tears and rage.(I'd prefer it to not have any dialogue, just very strong facial expressions from the three actors. I think it adds to the randomness of the murder, pulling the audience in
2) Harshly cut to the crime scene, which is sourrounded by cops, reporters and onlookers. The child is revealed to be the famous son of Dr.Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne, Gotham's wealthiest citizens. Young Bruce is being comforted by the police, he does not talk, he does not cry, rather he remains in shock. Then a tall man dressed in sharp clothing comes along. In an Engish accent he introduces himself as Mr.Pennyworth to the police. Bruce hears the name and walks up to the man. He sobs: "Alfred", and starts to cry while falling on his knees. Alfred kneels to comfort the child. The camera slowly pans back while the screen darkens.
3) Forward 10 years later. Young Bruce Wayne is 19. We are in England. We see young Bruce Wayne following a man through the streets of London. Unknown to the audience yet, the man is a world class detective, named Willie Dogget. Bruce gets ever closer when the man asks him why has he been following him for two weeks. Bruce is amazed that the man has been aware his prescence the whole time and says that he would like to become a world class detective under his training. The man agrees to teach Bruce, only because he recognizes Bruce's patience and commitment to tracking this man down. Teaching scenes can be inserted in here.
4) Forward 5 years later. Bruce Wayne is 24. Taking to heart Willie Doggets last advice on being discrete, Bruce travels to Japan to learn the ways of the legendary ninja. Days pass and young Bruce is not able to track down a ninja master. He settles for an old master who descends from an old samurai family. He trains with the man for a few weeks and is commended on his american boxing skills, his intelligence and his conditioning, but the man points out that his fighting skills are limited, only to discover that the man is actually the ninja master he was seeking. Bruce trains with the man for five years, then leaves to China to fine tune his skills. He decides to spend one year in the famed Shaolin Temple and heads to Gotham thinking he is ready.
I'll continue later...
