Those who have been here for years, remember back in 2000 when Dini was asked to write a treatment for Batman Beyond on the big screen? I actually liked Beyond, thought it was pretty faithful for what it was. Does anyone think Beyond' can still be made (after the third Nolan film of course) BUT, set in continuity of the Nolan series? Keeping up with realism meaning no flying cars (pff sooo 1999), the jokerz are dressed more like Heath Ledger's joker, Derek Powers as the main villain with familiar faces except no Grayson/Drake
but Barbara Gordon in her forties and hopefully I'm really hoping here Bale as an OLD Bruce Wayne with prosthetics.
As for the set, keep it gritty and real like the current films (seriously, except for hairstyles, clothing, and technology we haven't changed much aesthetically)
The only part i'm having trouble seeing is how the bat suit would look like on film, particularly on the cowl. :brucebat:
Anyone else thought about a beyond film?

Eh, the way I figure it, if we wait long enough, WB will be so immovably stuck on Batman and find the prospect of giving other DC heroes their own movies so repugnant that when they've exhausted every other possibility with the Batman property, this could still happen. :oldrazz:

Beyond has just been out of the equation for so long that Im just not as interested as I used to be.

It will happen one day, but not soon. My guess is probably a decade.

I kind of doubt it. You may see elements from BEYOND come into the franchise (I.E, the glider cape) but as for a movie itself? I don't see it happening anymore.

Yeah its been too long since the show was even on. TDKR is more possible IMO

Batman Beyond can be done but it has to stray far away from the animated series meaning no cyber punk Gotham crap... I'd also omit tim drake's backstory... as well as Barbara ever being Batgirl. It should just focus on Bruce Wayne and Terry.

One day it will rock but not soon.

I would much rather see Batman Beyond than a Dark Knight Returns movie.

I'd love to see one, but I wouldn't expect it to happen anytime soon.

I'd also like see a Batman Beyond movie. But yeah like JokerLedger said , it has to be pretty far off from the tv series. If WB would decide to go with a Batman Beyond movie within the next 5-10 years , it would be a a bit of a problem to try and make the villains realistic. Batman Beyond has some pretty far out villians that seem to function in fantasy world ala spidey/iron man then a realistic world created by Nolan and Burton.

I think that The Dark Knight Returns would serve as a pretty good basis for a eventual Batman Beyond movie. Bruce wayne not being able to take it anymore and training Terry. But IMO i would've liked it if Terry had a pretty rough unbringing as well. Sorta combine the stories from the previous Robins into Terry's life.

And yeah i'll probably get flamed for this , but IMO i think George Clooney ( with prostethics of course) would make an excellent old man Bruce/Bats.

Eh, I wouldn't be comfortable calling Burton's Bat-world "realistic", especially in comparison to Nolan's. In fact, in its own way I think the general direction that Burton took would be more conducive to a "Batman in the future" scenario, where you have things like the Mutants or the Golem or the Sons of the Bat or Splicing or etc.

The mixing of story elements I do like, because it wouldn't be that hard to do when you consider some of the recurring elements that seem to crop up in various versions: an old Bruce Wayne who can't let go of his life as Batman, at least one former Robin assuming a Joker identity (of sorts, in Jason's case), Jim Gordon's successor starting out vehemently anti-vigilante. And that just touches on Batman (which means not counting things like Lois Lane being murdered, most other heroes being rejected by the public or disappearing or dying [like Captain Marvel], and Superman knocking up Wonder Woman).

And yeah i'll probably get flamed for this , but IMO i think George Clooney ( with prostethics of course) would make an excellent old man Bruce/Bats.

Bah. Let him go make "Ocean's 37" and give Keaton more gray and wrinkles and a cane. :oldrazz:

i think TDKR would make a better more realisitc option to film than Batman Beyond (which might work as a live action t.v. series)

6-8yrs from now i think TDKR will be a better choice, due to i believe we will get 2 more batman's (2011 and 2014) before Nolan and Bale call it quits

Batman Beyond would still be pretty friggin awesome if done right. The question is who would play Grampa Bruce Wayne? Christian Bale b!tched about the prosthetics for his casting in "W." so he's probably out. There is Michael Keaton in aging makeup. God knows he could use a hit movie these days. Anyone think Adam West could play a serious BW at this point? He is kinda old, though he looks pretty good for his age.

I didn't like Batman Beyond at all. I would have rather seen Dick or Tim become Batman than some random nobody. I think we should put it to rest and see where the mainstream DCU takes us regarding bruce wayne and the future of Batman. Then evaluate the movie possibilities

He's not a random nobody, if you've seen the last bit of it, he's

Bruce's clone

I loved this series when it was on over here, mybe 5-10 years after the Nolan franchise finishes they could go into this, I would love to see it happen, and dont see that much of a problem with a faithful adaptation.

Jesus H. Christ, he isn't
Bruce's clone
he's
the offspring of what it would be like if Bruce and Mrs. McGuiness had a baby. Terry McGuiness is half Bruce's DNA and Half Mary McGuiness's.

Which is something I just never cared for, personally. I have always preferred the notion of Bruce just taking in another punk kid under his wing. I mean, it's his way; he's done it before. Then again, I've also liked the idea of Superman ultimately having a kid, and now thanks to Singer that's not a notion you can drop without making half the boards hold back vomit.

That's true, I haven't seen the episode in a while, I just remember
him being made from bruce's DNA, so I recalled it as him being a clone.

Sorry for that.

Dont forget all the reasons that Terry mentions in the episode too. I cant believe they didnt talk themselves out of it while writing the dialog
