Not bad but first and foremost an actor needs to be charismatic in the role. As Reeve was, as Downey and Bale are. Cavill was not so all the looks in the world sort of fall flat.
Frankly, if they get a Strong to play Luthor and say a Brolin to play Bats and Cavill can't up his game, he will be totally overshadowed in the next film. Basically Superman taking a back seat to Luthor and Batman.
I did not think he played badly.
When I watch Routh, I think he lacks of charisma and I can't help but being bothered by his nose or his eyes (too close
), it distracts me to watch his movies. On the contrary, he was as believable as Reeves.
He was sweet, nice, charming, helpful, angry, anxious, sad, in pain...
Well, you can see all his emotions in the movie when you're in a Henry cavill fan club and there are a lot.
Personally, I thought Henry overshadowed the others, not the reverse.
But the thing which overshadowed everything was the big kryptonian tentacle

. People can say whatever they want about Goyer, but he is by no means a horrible writer. He just needs someone there to polish his scripts and to translate his ideas better on page. He always delivers great scripts when co-writing with a great writer there to polish his stuff. The problem with MOS' script is that it lacked that polishing and didn't feel like a "final draft". Now there will be someone there to provide that and it is a bad writer. It gets worse than even that. Snyder also plans to talk to Frank Miller and get some ideas for the film from him. Asking Frank Miller in the 21st century for some input in a film is literally going out of your way to make the film suck. Hearing that is what pretty much killed this entire film for me. Whatever teeny tiny little hope I had for this film is now gone.
