I'm in the car on my way to work now and just heard on the radio that Orlando Bloom is WB's top choice for Batman at the moment.

I don't have time for forums right now, but I'll leave that here. Discuss. :yay:

I have to clean up this vomit before I compose a thoughtful opinion.

There are worse choices. There are also far better ones.

How can this even be happening?!?

That's the final nail if WB casts Bloom.

You have been 100% negative about everything. I am amazed this would make any difference to your expectations.

Well, at least Warner Bros. will have bragging rights on having been responsible for having destroyed Superman's franchise in record breaking time after having just started it up again.

Maybe it was a bad decision to let Warner Bros. win the court cast after all.

I'd rather have NO Superman than have him destroyed like this.

Same goes for you. Why do you care who play Batman? Much of your complaining has been about how Batman will upstage Superman. Well, maybe now he won't.

If Bloom auditioned and nailed it, then what's the problem?

But still, I don't believe it's going to be him. I doubt these reports.

It would have been tolerable if Batman was played by an competent actor and there would have been a better chance that they could write Batman better where he's not in a position to upstage Superman, but having someone like Bloom play the role is...well..that's something.

I don't think anyone would be able to accept him as Batman, thus this whole supposed "iconic meeting" between these two heroes would be a farce and only iconic in name.

I've only ever seen him in LOTR and POTC.

I liked him tbh...then he started banging Kerr :o

I just dont know how you go from Bale...... to Bloom.

The Lord works in mysterious ways. ..so do Hollywood execs.

I agree, but at least Bloom is an actor of a sort. It's not good news, but it could be worse.

If genuine, obviously.

It's not going to be him.

Now let's talk about the amazing Matt Bomer.

I'm not sure if its true, there were issues with the original article itself I believe. But I just don't see why of all the people right now WB would pick Bloom. His American accent is poor I believe, his last hit was in 2007 so he isn't exactly a box office draw right now, there is nothing in his roles to suggest he can do a dark side... I just don't see why they'd look at him.

BS.

I found ways to love MOS, despite it being a major disappointment. Every bit of news we've got starting from the announcement of this film has been hard to get behind, but I'm staying cautious hopeful anyways. It's just everything has been so messed up. Superman getting railroaded in his own sequel. Frank Miller being consulted. Orlando Bloom rumored. **** everything about all this.

To be fair if you are a hardcore Superman fan I can see why so far this film could be looking like a bit of a crapfest so far.

Luckily I'm quite neutral with both characters so its fine with me. However if this Bloom stuff is true it will be the first BIG blip on the radar for me.

There must be something.

Surely they wouldn't just look at him over nothing. ..then again.

But you're right. There is nothing to suggest he can do dark. But again, we have to give him the benefit of the doubt, like Heath.

Sure. He's not a B.O draw...but neither was Cavill by those standards. If Bloom can effectively give a good performance, then that will be the Buzz.

Bloom was decent in Kingdom of Heaven, and I thought he was OK in 3 Muskateers as the villain.

But Batman, I just don't see it.

I'm still on the Crudup bandwagon!

Very true but I think that WB will want this film to make a Billion and then some. So they'll want as big a name as possible in the Bat-suit. Or they may just save the big name for the villain.

I wont be completely mad if Bloom is chosen, I'll just be very very very confused. Like many choices suggested on here I can imagine him being a good Bruce Wayne but I can't imagine him doing the other side so well.

I don't think it's likely, anyway. The "scoop" is from The Daily Express, which is not famously reliable, and the article itself sounds very speculative, with only an unnamed source.

As with Mark Strong as Lex, it is probably true only in so far as there has been some contact/consideration.

IF Bloom were cast I'd have to immediately call my sister so that she could talk me down.
