Batman, Batman Returns, and Batman Begins are better than Batman Forever in everything EXCEPT the camera work. I know some of you are going to start pointing out scenes from the other movies, but honestly, the camera work was nothing special. For example, Tim Burton is a genius. He is a brilliant visual artist which is why the scenes from Batman and Batman Returns stick out.

^ That is a great example. If you think about it the camera work was nothing special. The scene is brilliant because of whats presented and not how its presented with the camera work. Get it now?

Schumacher and D.P. Stephen Goldblatt added extra energy with the constant movement of the camera. In Batman Forever the camera was never still for too long. I think for superhero movies that's a good approach.

Agreed. I think next to Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films the best camera work in a superhero movie belongs to Batman Forever. Yet, with all the great camera work the film doesn't have as many iconic scenes as the other three Bat movies you mentioned. I think the most iconic image in Batman Forever is when Batman runs through the fire. If someone can find a picture please post it.

Best camera work on buttshots, I hated that.

'Best camerwork' does not necessarily translate into crazy zooms and swooping crane shots.

Batman, Batman Returns, and Batman Begins are better than Batman Forever in everything EXCEPT the camera work.

And the story itself. I wouldn't necesarily say Forever has a better script than Returns, but it certainly has a better storyline.

Whast does mean then? Please explain.

Better camera work means using the best possible shots to tell the story, rather than just the most spectacular, which can take you out of the movie. It's like Steve Ditko's artwork; it's never spectacular to look at, but it tells the story better than most other comic artists.

Cause crazy zooms and swooping crane shots are some of Raimi's trademarks.

I see what your saying, but how could the camera be improved really for this scene?

The best Camera work in forever is the first fight when Batman bursts out of the lift and beats the henchmen up imo. Also the final scene with the tunnel dive is awesomely shot with all the Riddle signs/logos in the walls, Ive always loved that camera shot.

I like when Batman comes out from the gas Two-Face fired up and Bats standing is just cool.

Two-Face: "Why can't you just die?"

To each his own! That's what I would say. :)

Batman Forever had a great story and a great cast.

Just poorer directing and even poorer script(only a few cool lines)

There is only one in Forever.

Compared to the zero butt shots in Batman, Batman Returns and Batman Begins, I'd say that's one butt shot too many.

And I really have trouble accepting Forever as having a truly great Batman story. It improved upon a few things from the previous two, namely redeeming Batman from his murderous ways, but I simply can never get over the fact that Bruce was so quick to give up being Batman. I know the lesson, which he summed up to Nygma, was "I am Bruce Wayne and Batman" but..it just seemed like a really out-of-character moment of weakness thrown in simply for that nice, uplifting conclusion.

I agree with the post above, Bruce cant give up being Batman because Batmans been his life since he was 8 years old.
