Batman: Gothic

I have it. It's kinda short but it feels REALLY long, if you get what I mean.

It's from like, 1990 or 1991.

It's "okay" at best. There's some good characterization, but it just feels slow. Plus, the length vs. the price? Meh.

I bought it. The art is a bit unlike the usual. It's very dark and there's not much significant about it.

YES ! To me it is one of the best Batman stories of all time ! There's a new edition of the book being released in the beginning of September actually.

I sort of liked the atmosphere of it, but at the end of the day there just wasn't that much to it, and it felt sort of rushed and forced (I mean
the killer just so happens to be Bruce's former headmaster, who killed his friend that we just happen to find out about, and whose evil deeds Dr. Wayne figured out, but never had the chance to report because right after he pulled Bruce out of the school he was coincidently murdered
? Come on). It had some nice moments, but I'm not a fan. And there's not much to be said for a mystery where everything's just sort of handed to the detective.

^Ouch. A harshly fair critique of Morrison's penning errors! :o

I agree.

I'm not a fan of putting Batman into supernatural settings.

Batman not in supernatural settings.

It's pretty meh. I prefer Batman in a realistic setting. In fact, I think DC should devote a whole Earth to batman and other non-supernatural characters like Green Arrow and the Question.

It's not the supernatural I mind. Batman's had plenty of good stories with the superhuman/supernatural involved. I think Gothic could have been an awesome story, if it was properly executed. It just wasn't.

So you don't like Batman at all?

Batman is probably the most grounded of the major superheroes. Hell, Denny O'Neal even made a rule while he was editor that placing Batman in a supernatural setting was not allowed outside of Elseworlds. I personally like the occasional supernatural tale with Batman, but it's not unbelievable to think there are Batman fans that don't like Batman having supernatural elements.

Ra's Al Ghul? I'd consider him supernatural...

What does that have to do with Batman being a supernatural character?
