Batman In The Seventies

Everyone says that was the best era for Batman comics. I want to talk about it here. So, where it exacly begins? Are there some concrete issues where Batman changes from 60's camp version to more grim and gritty?
The author responsible for taking Batman in a new course is Denny O'Neil. Can you tell me how many stories did he write and wchich of them are best?
Also, could someone tell me wchich comics are featured in tradepaperback called "In The Seventies"? Is it worth buying?

-From Each Ending...A Beginning - origin of Huntress. Grade C
-This One'll Kill You, Batman! - the Joker infects the Batman infects Batman and tries to kill the doctor who can heal him Grade B
-Daughter of the Demon - Ra's Al Ghul enlists Batman to find his kidnapped daughter, famous story. Grade C
-Death Flies the Haunted Sky - Grade E. Boring.
-Ticket To Tragedy - Grade C


Try to get Batman: Strange Apparitions this is a very good collection of Steve Englehart's run on 'Tec in the late 70s. The true batman.

I Heard Of That **** Too Man. That Was When Robin Was Still Batmans Apprentice Before The Earth 2 Reset And Before Batman Wasnt Overyly Serious So He Wasnt Fun. They Shouldve Made 1989..1939 With Infinite Crisis And Did It Right That Time. And I Know It Was A Misjudgement On Their Part.

Hunt down the Batman in the Seventies and Strange Apparitions paperbacks.
And, if you really want to treat yourself, get the Illustrated by Neal Adams hardcovers. There are 3 volumes and they collect every single Batman drawing Neal did for DC - including art for record covers and promotional material.
Oh, and it's all been digitally recolored.
Incredible stuff.
