Hello,
what are the best comic books that show Bruce as a lonely man and focus on his psychology?

This is very important for me so please help me.

Thank you.

Yes, Bruce Wayne sitting at home watching sad movies and eating ice cream.

Since when was Batman lonely? Not making fun of your question, I'm legitimately interested?

I think Death and the Maidens is something close to what you're looking for. It the most psychological comic Batman I've ever read. All of them, depict him as loner so...

Hm. I'm not sure if I understand what it is you asking. But I think I do. So here are a few issue to look at.

First is hush. *spoiler. If you haven't read it don't read my description*

I can see why people could disagree with me but here's my reasoning. All through hush he's with selina. Hefinally endulging in a relationship. You see him really giiving it a chance, then at the end bruce ends it. You can see here that he's just too paranoid to let the defensive walls he's built over all these years fall just yet. He's not capable of trusting anyone enough to let them in and allow himself to be happy. Love is a distraction for him and a weakness. Son of a ***** my phones dying lol. Brb later to post more sry guys.

When Batman is lonely he goes on the internet.

I would say most Batman stories have Bruce as a lonely soul. It's just who he is.

You mean the guy with 3 Robins, 2 Batgirls, Alfred, Commissioner Gordon, Leslie Thompkins, Spoiler, Huntress, Catwoman, Batwoman, Azrael, the Outsiders and the ENTIRE JLA as accomplices and friends?

I'm not saying he isn't portrayed as a loner at times, but I think he comes across not like one at all for most of his existence.

Having a large entourage doesn't automatically make him less lonely. Most of his relationships with people are very strained, and with the exception of Robin and Alfred he keeps everyone at least at arm's length. And I'm talking about Bruce Wayne here, not necessarily Batman.

Yup. You tell them :word:

I've never seen Batman (but also Superman) as an socially extroverted guy, but "lonely" he is not, by any means.

If you can find Batman Ego or Batman Prey those deal with Bruce's psychological grief over his parents death but there isn't a story where Bruce is depressed or feels lonely since he's got Alfred and three Robins.

It's not that Batman likes to be lonely he just prefers to work alone without endangering others and the Superman/Batman comic wouldn't exist if he didn't want company anyway.

I would say they all present him as a lonely man, but if you mean present him alone, without the bat-family, a lot of the 70es-80es stuff is like this, or more traditionally "the Long Halloween" present him alone and is pretty precise about the psychology of the character. "Haunted Knight" too.
And as Mace Dolex mentioned "ego" is all about Bruce psyche.

It's part of what Bruce is. He's spent most of his life trying to build a family to replace what he didn't have as a child. He also has issues about losing family (obviously) which is why he also pushes them away.
Check out A Lonely Place of Dying and Year Three.

I'm still waiting for him to finally bury his baron with Catwoman.

Thank you for the replies everyone. I guess I wasn't clear enough, what I meant is - I wanted to know what stories involved Bruce having a problem with getting close with anyone. '

What I'm trying to do is show Batman as a character that although he is surrounded with people he can't really get involved in a relationship/or whatever because of what he does.

Try Dark Victory. Being alone was pretty prevelant in that text. But you gotta read Long Halloween first.
