So... I've been working on a costume now for a couple of weeks for my girlfriends costume-themed birthday-party. I've spent almost no money so far, so this is very much a Batman-on-a-budget type project. Will be taking some better pics soon, but here's a quick tease. (I may not have the best body-shape for the role though, hehe)

And yes, it's somewhat inspired by Lee Bermejo's Batman.

I like it. A lot actually. If Aronofsky and Miller's Year One made it to screen, I would imagine the costume would look like that.

Liefeld would love it!

That's pretty damn good, man, especially taken in context of the budget (or should I say lack thereof :-P) that you're working with.

More pictars, pleeez?

Thanks! I still got some improvements to do, so when it's all done (I have to be done by this friday) I'll post some more pics!

I'd love to know materials, time it took to make, etc.! This looks fabulous.

For something so low budget it looks great - Good Job!

Basically the materials consist of old clothes, especially an old leather-jacket came in handy, a glue-gun and knowing how to use a sowing machine. I'll give a complete rundown in a few days when I update with more pictures. Oh, and it's taken me just about two weeks, give or take a couple of days.

Good job. The only thing I have a problem with is that the cowl is 2 pieces but since you're not using alot of money I can forgive that. It's better than what I could do.

Actually I was planning on using a lot of money on this project, if I ever got around to doing it, however, this opportunity suddenly came up and I thought I'd "test the waters" with this version first. However, I have actually always planned on making a two-piece cowl, with more armor in the front, but I planned on it having a more seamless look than what this version has. I'm quite pleased with the result anyway though, I'll be posting pics this weekend, I think.

Still a couple of things I want to change with the costume, so it'll take a couple more days before I take more pics, but here's a quick one.

It's basically a normal cloth hood/cowl made from a black T-Shirt underneath, then I made the front part and the ears with an old plastic Darth Maul mask and some other plastic parts (the ears themselves made from the stiff part of a baseball cap) with leather glued and sewn on. I'll post some pics of all the individual parts as well later, I think.

I'd find a way to shape the eyes/brow in a way that resembles the nolan cowl, but in general i absolutely adore this costume, more so than any of the expensive fan costumes i have seen for batman.
