Batman OYL discussion thread

I could get a job for $9 an hour at a call center but I rather like the freedom of telemarketing.

computer lab monitor here corp, so don't have your heart set on easiest college kid job
Oh, I wasn't saying working at the library is the easiest job. The lab monitors at my college were the least helpful bunch of saps I've ever seen, so I'd say you definitely win. But working in the library is definitely easy, and I'm a staff member so I get faculty parking privileges and stuff, too.

Yeah, when people ask me questions I always just tell them I don't know how to fix their problem so I can go back to watching whatever DVD I bring with me.:o

Plus he's a damn good character. Nice addition to the Bat books in my opinion.

Agreed. I hope that Morrison or Dini keep the character around in the Bat-books. I honestly thought that he was killed by the Tally Man in that one issue, heh. I was like, "Man, that was the shortest lived character ever".

I'm glad that I was wrong.

Still love that part of the issue where he tells the wife who killed her husband; Bard is the man. :)

Yeah, thats a bad Mofo to have sex with a chick and then turn her over to the Bat for murder.

It was right up there with James Bond.

Yea, that is what I liked about his character so much in that scene. Gave off such a James Bond vibe. :)

damn i cantget a job to save my life. and im 21.:(

I cant either and Im 22. I got my degree after 3 years, applied for different jobs and they basically went "hahaha.... bachelors degree...thats cute". :(

I cant wait till morrisons on batman. corps is right. none of the OYL books have been all that intriguing, and if they were, the lost steam halfway through the storyarc

I just hope he doesnt go overboard with this son of the demon stuff.

well i suppose if the arc did any real damage they could always have SBP breakout and punch some walls till it goes away

Knowing morrison, he'll most likely do something to piss off half the fandom. i'm not really a fan of bruce having all these kids running around all of a sudden

Everytime i hear the name of this arc i keep thinking of Sanford and Son.

Knowing Morrison, how?

Detective Comics#821
best single issue ever. okay not ever, but still. bendis needs to take a lesson from dini. this is how you do a one issue story without having a 4-6 issue arc. finally we get to see the Bruce wayne persona using his detective skills to hunt down a fake elite society lead by a new villain named faccade. basically the plot is
faccade creating a fake elite society made up of thugs trying to pass off as gotham's wealthiest making connection with real wealthy members and basically gold digging them, dirty style
and it's up to our caped crusader to hunt down faccade before he kills anyone else. this was like a 30 minute episode of BTAS. i really loved how dini got into the mind of batman just like robinson did. both writers have done an excellent job with bats OYL, although bats kinda reverted to his *****e side,in robinson's run bats wouldve welcomed him with open arms into the investigation. nontheless still a great issue.

rating:9/10

Just picked up the new issue today, and hot damn did I love it. Robinson was doing great, but man, this issue reminded me of why I love Paul Dini. I also love that (if this issue is any indicator) his comics will just be one-shot stories. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have a long arc, but sometimes you just wanna sit down and read a full story, cover-to-cover. And Williams' artwork! Good gravy, son. I need to lie down.

Any of you guys pick it up yet?

story was cool but I hated the art. Bruce Wayne looked like Ray Romano and the white out punches were kinda annoying

Facade seems cool. id like to see more of him.

I really enjoyed this issue. I forgot Dini was taking over the writing chores on this title until I saw his name on the cover.

I thought this Facade story might carry on over a few more issues. But it was just a one shot story. Pity, because the idea of criminals infiltrating and robbing Gotham's wealthy by pretending to be just like them is a cool idea.

I've only flipped through this book so far and I'm really digging the artwork.

I did catch the end where Batman sort of had this weird trophy case with some of his rogues masks. That was some bad ass-ery

I'll never understand why Batman does that. It's like keeping photographs in your living room of people who try to murder you on a regular basis.
