Hey guys. I've been trying to find this Riddler storyline for ages, but I can't seem to find it anyway. Do any of you happen to know of the Riddler storyline where he kidnaps a baby, and has it choke on something?

I only read this comic book once when I was a kid (at a friends house), and it scared the heck out of me. Now I'm eager to check it out, but don't know what comic it's from. I was guessing it was Legends of The Dark Knight, but I can't get that verified. Like I said, do any of you guys know what this Batman comic this is from? Do you also know if it's collected in a trade paperback or anything? I'd really like to find it, after I know what it is. Especially because it scared me as a kid :D. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks ;)

I think you are talking about Dark Knight Dark City cause of the baby thing and no sadly it's not collected.

OK great thanks man! That's disapointing it's not collected, but maybe some day ;)

I could suggest you trace it in a comic store. It's a 4 part story if I'm not mistaken. Each issue may value 10-15 euros roughly.

It is Batman 452-454. Some pretty cool Mignola covers on those issues.

I was just looking at the DC solicts for May and apparently they are reprinting this story under the DC Comics Presents banner.

DC COMICS PRESENTS: BATMAN – DARK KNIGHT, DARK CITY #1
Written by PETER MILLIGAN
Art by KIERON DWYER, TOM MANDRAKE and DENNIS JANKE
Cover by MIKE MIGNOLA and GEORGE PRATT
In these thrilling tales from BATMAN #452-454, The Riddler goes on a crimepsree – but when he has the chance to kill Batman, he let The Dark Knight live. What strange game is The Riddler playing? Plus, in a story from DETECTIVE COMICS #633, Bruce Wayne returns to Wayne Manor to find no trace of the Batcave, and Alfred without any knowledge of his master’s crimefighting career. Has Bruce Wayne gone insane?
On sale MAY 18 • 96 pg, FC, $7.99 US

Aw don't worry I definitely did. In fact, I actually just bought all three issues and have read them numerous times, since my last post. Thanks for your concern though :cwink:. Thank all of you too. If not, I'd never believe to find one of the many Batman stories that haunted my childhood, that I'm just on the verge of rediscovering. Barbathos is that you :woot:? I found all of them, but this one.

I must say, these issues are awesome. I really wish The Riddler was done like this more often. He gives The Joker a run for his money and you really see that he can be a deadly and disturbing enemy. More writers need to do the same principle for many other villains as well, me thinks heh heh.

I'm glad to see it's also getting a show case release, because it definitely deserves it. I'm not going to lie, it's better than a ton of Batman stories that have a TPB IMO.

That issue was a cop-out. Turns out that The Riddler was possessed by a demon. It's the comic equivalent of the Dallas shower fiasco.

People always point to this issue as proof of how good Riddler can be. But unfortunately the writer had no faith in the character and tacked on the awful supernatural subplot. The whole thing is a mess and an insulting mess at that.

Insulting? Batman was racing to find clues, the plot is eerie, sick and dark even without the occult stuff. Also , the point is Batman in this story. In that basement, with the corpse, he trully is a gothic creature.Your "faith in character" argument is pathetic. They reboot villains or re-invent them temporarily ALL the time. It helps create different versions and unlimited stories. A lot of Batman stories are supernatural and great. A lot of them are not actually consistent with continuity and are still great. Because ****. The point of the story is the soul, not if Riddler was more sadistic than 20 issues before.
