Bruce Wayne, Peter Parker, Clark Kent and Ororo Munroe took the top 4 places respectively in Comic Vine's Top 100 Superheroes 2012.

Last year, Batman only ranked #34 and taking the top spot this year was not a surprise.

Spider-man moved up from #4 last year to #2 this year, putting Superman who was #2 last year to #3 this year.

X-Men's Storm was #1 last year but seeing her at #4 still proves her immense popularity in the Comic Vine community.

121 Comic Vine members participated the annual poll.

Pretty cool, kinda surprised to see most of The Avengers outside the top 10 though.

Comic Vine's Top 100 Superheroes 2012:

1. Batman
2. Spider-Man
3. Superman
4. Storm
5. Wonder Woman
6. Dick Grayson
7. Barry Allen
8. Nightcrawler
9. Thor
Makes sense
10. Gambit
11. Aquaman
I don't read their stories, don't know how these happened to be this high, higher than those three
12. Wally West
13. Wolverine
15. Captain America

Seems odd that Batman was that low last year.

I love it Nightcrawler is number 8 and Marvel killed him off:cmad:

Storm is one of those characters who has as many haters as she has fans, but her haters are completely oblivious to the existence of her fans. Every time a Storm fan pops up, there's always someone there to say "Really?! Storm has fans?!" As if they've never met a Storm fan before.

I don't hate her lol, I nothing her. She's just seems kind... innocuous. most important thing I know about her is that she married black panther at some point.

I must be the only one who likes that marriage

Who were the people who voted for these? I'm surprised that Iron Man is not in the top 10 and Hulk, especially after the Avengers movie this year. I'm surprised also that Barry Allen, Nightcrawler and Gambit are in there, and that Storm is in the top 5. I would've expected Iron Man to be in the top 5.

Gambit makes the top ten but Hal Jordan has to sit at 25?

Yeah, Comic Vine can keep their list...

Meanwhile, everybody in the bottom ten of the Top 100 is just plain awesome.

They're lucky in having important roles in a great movie, in comics they are less impressive
Hulk is one of two or more Hulks (if you count the She-Hulks, and Hulk's children), got a treatment by a writer who (according to readers of GR) made better Ghost Rider stories, and lesser Hulk stories

This seems like a fairly bizarre list. How is it determined?

Seems to be like CBR votes, a blog entry encourages members to vote and they cast their thoughts, listing their top 10, each character by rank gets more points
1. 10 points
2. 9 points
Etc

The character getting more points is ranked higher

If Luke and Han are on there, where's Yoda?

Yoda is better than at least Storm.

You mean the guy who permitted a young psychopath to join the Jedi Knights despite his every instinct telling him not to, then decided to employ an army of clones who were clearly commissioned by an unknown enemy to use against him? Yes, Yoda's achievements for the side of good make him one of the best heroes of all time.

Exactly. Although, his last student did end the 20 years of tyranny.

And if you are going to use past deeds, then Silver Surfer who willingly led a planet eating alien to devour countless worlds.

Wolverine who's killed A LOT of people, and some even inadvertently blaming it on his "berserker rage".

Gambit, Spawn, Hulk, Cyclops, Punisher, etc. don't have the cleanest of histories either.

With some aid of the young psychopath

He tried hard to find a planet not populated, Earth was his choice to feed his master only cause of Galactus anger and frustration
In the end he aided the rescue of Earth, and was unable to leave this galaxy cause of that

But he did initially lead Galactus to Earth. Which means he probably did that with other planets, whether under the will of Galactus or not.

My point is, if you looked hard enough, many of those heroes on that list have pasts that they are trying to make amends for.

I'm going classic and say it's the only planet, just as explained in SS v1 #1

Saddest thing is there's no Moon Knight, he's one of my favorites

And based on what you said, I'm going to forgive Yoda for trying to make amends, won't blame him for trying to do a good thing, but then it goes out of hand
