BvS Batman/Superman Pushed Back to 2016 - Part 1

The big reason and the reason they will never openly admit to is that it would come out the same year almost at the same time as Avengers: Age of Ultron. WB/DC don't want to compete with Marvel at the box office. They don't want people walking out going "O that sucked compared to Avengers 2."

I know you all have faith in this movie. However this is supposed to be Man of Steel 2 but it not even remotely a sequel any more.

Let me be blunt. WB/DC backed them selves in to a corner. They didn't sign Bale to do more movies beyond The Dark Knight. They also let Goyer just do whatever the hell he wanted and write an ending which makes bring Batman back to the big screen even harder. In short WB/DC screwed up and they know it and now there sacrificing a true Superman sequel to fix that mistake.

Second they have no faith in that Wonder-Woman. So to test the waters they are throwing her in Batman vs Superman hoping that people will love her enough to want to see her in a solo film.

This movie has disaster all over it. I have no seen or heard one thing that has mad me go "wow this might actually be good.". What I see is them pushing off as many heroes in to one film as they can. What I see is a company so desperate to catch up to Marvel they are willing to rush and risk it all.

Look at Marvel. From the moment Iron-Man was released to now Marvel has generated hordes of money. I'm not talking in just ticket sales and Blu-ray and DVD sales. I am talking about merchandising sales. In fact they have probably made more money off of merchandising sales then they have off of ticket sales because that's where the real money is. WB/DC want in on that action. They been sitting on the side lines playing with them selves and after Avengers came out and was this smash hit they realized it. Now they are trying to cash in and they are desperate and willing to do anything to make that money. They basically want to be Marvel with out taking there time like Marvel did.

I know what you're going to say you can't know that. You're judging the movie before the movie is released. You're right I am and maybe I am wrong. However if I am right then WB/DC just flushed down what could been a great DC franchise down the toilet for at least five to ten years if that. When all they need to do is take there time and be patient. Focus on the individual characters before turning there focus to Justice League and Batman/Superman films.

However only time will tell. If what I have heard about Batman vs Superman story line is true then it will suck and have very little to do with Superman and more to do with Batman. Either way I think it will Suck I think Ben Affleck will ruin it just like he ruined Daredevil. That's just my opinion.

I am of the firm belief that Bale was never going to don the role after Rises, no matter how much money WB threw at him. The guy owed Batman, the fans, and WB nothing more.

The Dark Knight Rises came out the same year as Avengers and still became one of the most financially successful films of all time not adjusting for inflation.

The two 2015 movies would have come out months apart had WB kept their original release date. Age of Ultron would not have been a threat to BvS at all by the time mid-July rolled around.

While I'm sympathetic to the rest of your post, I hope you're wrong, only because I want this movie to be good (as I'm sure you do as well).

Supes/Bats had a lot more than just AGE OF ULTRON to be worried about competing or being compared to. Summer 2015 is nuts. Here's a thought... Maybe WB just thought they'd make more money and deliver a better product to do so if they pushed the release date back? I know... effin' crazy to think that, call me a rebel.

Can you all quit the crazy tin foil hat wearing WB were scared nonsense?

There is a difference between scared and prudent. This is big time money, so looking out for the bottom line is kind of a given. I also don't think that bragging rights matters AS MUCH (oh, it matters just not as much) as what profits the product makes. 2015 is a crazy ass summer. Maybe they just though better of it? That's not fear, that's looking out for the success of your movie. Let the immature fan fight and worry about bragging rights. I just want quality product that ensures the production of more Superman/DC Comics Super Hero films.

Bale himself said it would be stupid to turn down the kind of money that was speculated so I'm not so sure about that.

It's probably the smart thing to change actors when they most likely will change the character though. I can't imagine that they'll go with the fairly uneducated and ordinary Batman while building up for JLA.

I really don't but into this 2015 being massive nonsense as the reason, it's not like the films are all going up against each other. The 2016 move has nothing to do with 2015 and the slate of movies coming out. This is more about the film itself not the release date otherwise they wouldn't have announced it as 2015 in the first place.

Who says it's the only reason? There could be dozens of perfectly rational reasons to do this that you and I and most everyone posting here have not the foggiest clue about. I myself could give a flying copulation about bragging rights, or how film X stacks up to film Y, but I do KNOW that having a product be at it's best and having the best release window so that it makes a high a profit as possible is the thinking process of those in charge of the studios that make these films. There's no need for behind the scenes drama, conspiracy or intrigue to account for this is what I'm getting at.

Or maybe put down the conspiracy theory glasses and realize that maybe they needed more time to fix their script? People here read way too much into this whole DC vs. Marvel bull ****. Also, how do you even know that BvS isn't a sequel anymore? Snyder and Goyer's comments state otherwise.

Let me be blunt. WB/DC backed them selves in to a corner. They didn't sign Bale to do more movies beyond The Dark Knight. They also let Goyer just do whatever the hell he wanted and write an ending which makes bring Batman back to the big screen even harder. No they didn't. Bale's Bruce Wayne was never meant to be a character connected to the DCCU (furthermore, Nolan did not want his movies to be connected, he wanted them to be their own thing). Also, you do realize that Goyer didn't write the script? He was part of the story with Nolan, so this wasn't entirely on him, Nolan also thought of the conclusion.

Second they have no faith in that Wonder-Woman. So to test the waters they are throwing her in Batman vs Superman hoping that people will love her enough to want to see her in a solo film.

Based on what...? This screams baseless speculation.

Jumping to conclusions I see, you might as well already made up your mind about the movie without seeing any material.

So what we have here is another fan who wants to see WB use Marvel's plan. You do realize there is more than one way to plan for these things?

However only time will tell. If what I have heard about Batman vs Superman story line is true then it will suck and have very little to do with Superman and more to do with Batman. Either way I think it will Suck I think Ben Affleck will ruin it just like he ruined Daredevil. That's just my opinion.

 the whole "very little to do with Superman and more to do with Batman" is based on what? As for Affleck, you think an actor is incapable of change?

Just like the ones who don't think it's flawed are just as correct, right?:cwink:

Yes. But that wasn't the issue.

The issue was saying other people don't like the film because they "don't get it", insisting it's a failure on behalf of the audience over the film makers. It's hardly a metatextual tale or anything.

Yaaaaaayyy...we have another Marvel worshiper in these forums saying he knows BvsS will be horrible especially since he has not seen one ounce of actual footage.

Just like people compared the avengers with man of steel it's gonna hapen with aofu and man of steel 2 no matter how far apart there release dates are..it's just watch the ga and some "true fans" do. It's just how some find out how much they liked a movie or not.

Again, you generally don't officially 'call it', send the crew home for months and then change your mind about it a week later. And even though the delay seemed last minute, they take a lot of things into account when they do something like a reschedule with something of this magnitude. Not saying it's completely out of the realm of possibility...but it is a very, very big machine that doesn't exactly turn on a dime.

Unless they upped the production budget at the last minute there's no way they'd add three months of production time. That's millions upon millions of dollars they'll need for other things like post-pro and marketing. It's possible, but in that case they'd announce it. The past week has been nothing but negativity about this movie. WB execs would undoubtedly put out as much good word as possible now, for example announcing Terrio as a collaborator or filming two movies back-to-back.

I know this sounds very needy but I just wish WB/ Warner would just give us even a tiny nugget of information about this movie to just ease our concerns and get us hyped. I know, I know, they don't have to do anything, we're just being impatient fanboys blah blah blah. But I mean, what could it hurt to just give us a tease of something? It can only help the movie's hype. I mean, compare this forum with the Avengers 2 forum, that one is practically dead and not because people aren't looking forward to the movie but because Marvel has mastered the flow of information for their movies and has learned to keep the fans satisfied while they wait.

I also think the S/B boards are the most packed because the Batman/TDK Nolan fans and Superman fans run rampant here.

When you put the two fan factions that easily agitated by just about anything when it comes to their characters in ONE forum...all hell is a given to break loose.lol

We've seen the craziness that took place within the Batman threads when Nolan's films were still going on...and we all know on how bad it got within the Superman forums, to the point where the Hype's Award for biggest feud of the year went to the category of Superman Fans vs Superman Fans.

So yeah, it's not a safe combination to put the two fans in the same boat.lol

Exactly!

And I find it hilarious how I just mentioned how agitated I was by the delay. :lmao:

How about this....?

Other than that...it's way early and shooting isn't even starting for a while. So just sit tight and things'll come out when they do just like with any other movie, yo?. :D

Oooook. :)

I'm just sayin'...especially after announcing the delay, just give us a little tease of...something to get our mouths watered. For the record, I fully admit that in this day and age, we have been spoiled when it comes to movie news when we have people like Bryan Singer who himself took to twitter everytime a new development happened with XMen DOFP.
