That didn't help the last movie from bombing at the box office. And it was a much more faithful adaptation. Ant-Man isn't an established brand but Marvel Studios is and they're gonna do a nonstop job of letting people know about AM
Yeah, I get that. Though it is Ant Man...it's going to be a hard sell IMO. If Guardians does well than I think it has a chance. Marvels dipping into the unknowns now, it's questionable if they will pay off without the GA having some knowledge of who they are.
Im excited as heck to see what Wright is going to do with a big budget.

No, they probably didn't know the details of Thor but the name and image were universally recognizable. Ant Man however...
Don't get me wrong once I saw the test footage for Ant Man I was sold but before that I questioned it...and that's knowing who the character is.
It seems clear to me WB are going a different route with Pan, on top of that I don't care how well established the Marvel brand is, Ant-Man is not even close to being on the same level of audience familiarity as Peter Pan so that is going to be an uphill battle. You throw in that Jackman is involved with Pan and all of a sudden it's looking like a far more even race.
Iron Man wwasn't well known back then too. But they did it and now he is as famous if not more than superman.
If the movie is good enough...you never know.
