Previously, I attempted to uncover the greatest episode of Batman: The Animated Series. Being that there are so many "epic" episodes, I soon discovered that it wasn't a very easy task. Now, with the newest incarnation of The Joker coming out in "The Dark Knight", I thought it might be interesting (*and easier for all*) to vote on the greatest "Joker" episode of all time from Batman: TAS. I made a list to vote on. I'm really interested to see what everyone thinks/ chooses as their personal favorite. Thanks.

The Laughing Fish is the best one, IMO. I love how it ties in the classic 70's story 'Joker's Five Way Revenge' with the climax sequence in the aquarium with the shark. Great depiction of Joker's warped logic with trying to copyright fish with his face and gain a profit.

Joker's Favor is another great one. It shows what a sadistic monster Joker can be by taking such delight in terrorising an average man for years simply because he shouted at Joker on the Freeway. "You've become my hobby. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA".
Also, this episode introduced the great Harley Quinn. Although you can tell they didn't intend for her to be long term initially as it's never hinted that she and Joker are in a romantic relationship.

The Man who killed Batman was also good, because it explored a little bit behind Joker's relationship with Batman. "Without Batman, crime has no punchline". Although after he thinks he's killed Sid, he's all smiles again. "Well that was fun. Who's for chinese?" :woot:

Fixed :cwink:

It's hard to decide really... I love the Laughing Fish of course, I guess I'd go with this one.

All of them are so good. This was truly a great depiction of the Joker. I also really liked him in Old Wounds in TNAS and his part in the movies. They really let him cut loose in Mask of the Phantasm, World's Finest and especially Return of the Joker. This may be my favorite incarnation of Joker, in fact.

Definitely "The Joker Fish." :o

That episode would make Englehart and Rogers proud.

I totally agree with you on all counts. Although "Joker's Favor" was my first Joker episode (*and personal favorite*), I would have to still vote "The Laughing Fish" as the very best of all Joker episodes. It plays out more like a movie rather than an animated show. A classic in every sense of the word taken straight from the comics. (*an combination of two storylines, in fact*) Also, I was certainly in error as not to include "The Man Who Killed Batman" on the voting list. This episode showcased Joker's warped veiw of his relationship to Batman beautifully.

I love "The Joker Fish" episode alot, but my all time favorite is "Almost got em'." I think that's the name of the episode. Other villains such as Two Face,Penguin,Poison Ivy and Killer Croc appear, but the Joker is the main character. Such a great episode!!

laughing fish is highly overrated.

his best line was in the last laugh. 'You killed captain clown, YOU KILLED CAPTAIN CLOWN'.

THe one with batman presumed dead is also a very good one.

Joker never really made an impact on me in tas, not with two face, rupert thorne or clayface (and even man bat and kyaido-ken and mr freeze and riddler) all providing generally more interesting stories.

i have never watched any of these :P, im not a huge fan of cartoons but i might give it a try

The Joker's Favor is my favorite Joker episode. Excellent.

"The Laughing Fish"

I have a soft spot for "Christmas With The Joker". Joker and Christmas, that fits.

Joker's Favor was great. It just shows how f***ing crazy the Joker can make people.

Why Mad Love is not on this list? Well I think I´ll have to vote in other..

Out of that list, definitely The Laughing Fish, it's the most ominous and disturbing (with the only depiction of the Joker's trademark laughing gas outside of MOTP) and I love the twisted logic he displays throughout the episode.

Another favorite is Mad Love, although the animation for the later series never gelled with me and comparing it to the original comic, the Bruce Timm style really lost a lot of its charm.

Other fine Joker moments come from episodes not "starring" him: his rant about not finding his socks in Harley and Ivy is a classic. The eulogy he delivers in The Man Who Killed Batman. And I adored how sadistic his sense of humor was in Almost Got 'em.

Many of the Joker "starring" episodes of TAS really sucked though. I hate Joker's Wild and Make em Laugh. Be a Clown is nothing short of annoying and The Last Laugh and Joker's Favor are simply mediocre.

I love them all, but I'm partial to "Christmas With the Joker."

'You Killed Captain Clown.... YOU KILLED CAPTAIN CLOWN!!!!'

'We'll that was fun! Who's for Chinese?'

'Meanwhile, back at the wrench! Since my side splitters don't tickle you, how 'bout a skull splitter?!'

Joker's Favor for sure.

And ya'll hate too much on Make 'Em laugh...I thought it was hilarious. "I am the condiment king!"

It was too silly, IMO. Robin getting spanked by "Mighty Mom", Joker getting the tin cup stuck on his head, and then his pants were pulled down etc.

The concept was good. Joker out for revenge on those who robbed him of his greatest comedian title. But the execution of it was too silly.

The Laughing Fish, Joker's Favor, and The Last Laugh are my favorites.

I love The Christmas with the Joker and Make 'Em laugh. They show how Joker can be scary, Freddy-like murdered. But Joker can also stretch to be a clown to laugh at.

I love the Jokers Favor episode! A couple of these I'd have to rewatch though to remember, but my vote goes to Jokers Favor
