Meh, I already own all four seasons on DVD. They should have brought this out back when they were releasing them.

I'm really intrigued by any extras this set might have, but...
I'm too broke to even think of buying it :(

I know it has exclusive extras on it in addition to the semi-decent featurettes on the original DVDs. I really wish they'd announce a Bluray version. The only way I'd upgrade to this is either that or if they were remastered/restored (and I'd wait until reviews poured in to make sure it was a good cleaning job). They still need to release a proper Mask of the Phantasm. The transfer on the existing DVD is filthy, and they could at least put the HBO First Look on there.

:woot:
I KNEW there was a reason I hadn't bought those DVDs yet. This sounds like a hot ticket. Screw Blu-Ray! :hehe:

That's great, I don't have the complete series

Bonus materials...must have. :csad:

The original DVD release was lacking.

Screw Blu-Ray!

You wouldn't say that if you had a PS3 and nice HDTV (with proper cables and a modern receiver that can take advantage of the new technologies). :D I have a 65" HDTV, and I can't stand to watch old piddley small screens anymore. The best high definition transfers put standard DVD to shame and that makes looking at standard definition painful too (even with upscaling). If you know anyone with the hardware, snag yourself (i.e. rent) a copy of 3:10 to Yuma, The Prestige, and Harry Potter Order of the Phoenix. The newly released Batman Begins kicks some pretty major ass, too. Those are just some of my favorite Blurays in regards to what the format has to offer (and I'm talking solely about image quality and sound here...and especially image). Fantastic high detailed picture and 3:10 even has a 7.1 soundtrack, as well as one of the finest looking high resolution transfers I've come across.

Oh, and when I speak of proper cables, I don't mean those overpriced Monster brand crap ones. You don't need that. A 55 cent HDMI cable off eBay does the same thing with no difference in quality. I got 3 for that price when I first took the plunge. There's a lot of myth and BS floating around when it comes to cables and esp. HDMI cables.

Anyway, I'm sure BTAS will showup eventually, but I both can and can't wait. Watch me have to wait 3 years. LOL.

As for the current DVDs have lacking extras...yeah it's pretty sparse but I don't think the new sets will offer that much new. We don't even know if the exclusives are disc based; however I hope I'm proven wrong on both counts.

Skip Blue-Ray. Those Holographic Versatile Disc (HVD) and Protein-Coated Discs (PCD) are coming faster than you think

i wish they would bring back the bruce timm btas....in a 12 episode hour long miniseries that would show all of the events that happened between the end of tas and beyond. make it a dark and gritty pg13 type story. its original audience is grown up now so it should be too.

babs getting shot, stephanie dying, cassie cain and all her drama....no mans land, hush, war crimes...bring some of the best comics to life through the bruce timm world.

i even did made a pic of what cassie would look like in the timmverse

Heh, don't fall for it yet boys, give them another 10 years and they'll release the entire dcau universe on a single crazy box set, that's what i'm talking about

saying this though, if they did the same thing for superman, justice league, batman beyond, justice league unlimited and static shock (heck even teen titans), that would be more than happy for me.

OMG! This is a must buy! I don't have DVD's at all, and my old VHS's are useless to me.

Is the exclusive stuff like videos on the DVDs? If not, I won't lose sleep over this. I don't need extra stuff like lithograms.

I want that...A LOT. But how much does it cost?

My undying love for Mark Hamill is making me not care how much it costs actually...

Yes...how much?
But honestly I don't care- cos it'd be worth every penny.

It will be on my X-Mas wishlist. Only problem is, how am I going to convince my parents that I'm not childish/******ed :woot:

I'll wait until I know what the extras are until I consider trading in my season sets

screw Blu-Ray and DVD.

Is this coming out on Laser Disk? thats the best quality available to man :word:

wonder how much this sucker is going to cost.

I'm sure that all up, it'll be cheaper than what you would have paid if you got the old sets as they came out (like I did).

Yeah... more extras would be nice, but I don't really think this is worth it for me. If it were hi def and restored it'd be another story. That is, if it's even possible to get HD versions - when they photograph the cells, do they do it on film? If the episodes only exist as 480 line video then there's no point in HD versions.

Even so - why not put these on Blu-Ray in the standarf def, so you can have 4 discs instead of 16?

But anyway, if you never bought the old sets, this should be a bargain.

Did anyone know that season 1 of JL is coming out in Blu-Ray though? I bet that'd look nice, especially since they only released the DVD version in 4:3.

Ya I never did buy the old sets and I have been waiting for this, so Im psyched about this!

This is stupid...why in god's name did they have to wait on this?

Absolutely ridiculous for them to pull s**t like this...Was it honestly that impossible for them to have done this back when they were doing the original volumes?

I know it's all a matter of money, but still ... they could've just as easily released this alongside the volumes for the fans who would've been able to pony up for it. I certainly would have.

But now that they've waited until people could potentially have all four volumes to release THIS...I don't really see a point in upgrading. I mean the extras are most likely not going to be media-related...no new commentaries or featurettes. From the picture, it looks like all of the new additions are going to be a few books telling a bunch of stuff about both the creation of the series and the series itself that's already common knowledge among the fanbase...
