Batman TPBs to stay away from

Okay, the TPB i think that is hyped up too much and way way way overpriced is the HUSH saga.

What in god's unholy name is going on there... So you can write a story and just because you have some of the best rogues gallery villians & a new batmobile and a fight with Joker... this makes it good????????????

I am very sorry.. You people complain about year one and you have no mention of this peice of utter CRAP! ! !

c'mon! ! !

I liked hush personally, but I didn't think it was amazing just very action orientated.

Ok so must of the mainstream stuff that people haven't liked (Miller's Year One, DKR, DKSA) I liked. I also liked Hush. However, I really didn't like City of Crime . . . In fact (shameless self-promotion) there is a neighboring thread dedicated to talking about how bad that book was, and the millions of ways it could have been better! As a side note, I picked up Batman and the Mad Monk, and was not impressed.

I personally feel that the true potential of Batman has not been tapped yet and that there aren't really that many great batman graphic novels

I thought Hush was quite good, Hush Returns is awful, and I mean awful, along with City Of Crime.

I agree 100%. I've actually debated this with friends of mine. I'm still waiting for that Holy Grail of Batman storytelling combined with mind blowing art. One day my friend, one day.

I liked Gotham County Line...I thought it was creepy and an entertaining read. I didn't like Batman Secrets that much though. I am a fan of Sam Keith's artwork but the story just seemed like they were trying too hard.

I hear a lot of bad stuff about DKSA but I really liked that TPB, its one of my favorites along with DKR, YO, TLH, Dark Victory.

Has anyone read the Cult? that is an often overlooked story that I thought was quite good

I thought DKSA was pretty good as well, doesn't deserve the rep it seems to have on here.

I left it for a while, but it's a good read, but you have to have a bit of knowledge of the comics and stuff. Still decent, especially the opening...

I was thinking of picking up DKSA, but its bad reputation has put me off so far. I have read DKR and really liked it (though i wouldnt say it was the best Batman story. I think Long Halloween is the greatest), so will i be disappointed by DKSA?

The art is a lot different from DKR and the coloring is really vibrant and abstract. A lot of people didn't like the coloring but I thought it was unique and entertaining to look at and is actually one of the original reasons I bought the book. The story ill admit isn't as good as DKR but its not as bad as most say IMO

If your anything like me its a book you'll read once or twice, but will always take out just to look at cause its so original compared to most other comics and thats what I look for a lot of the time

umm ok DKSA is more or less another Superman goes crazy kind of deal so batman has to beat him up uhhh plastic man is the most powerful guy ever. Dick Grayson is going crazy for a really lame reason umm and its Justice League in the future. I mean I found it fun but really really lame compared to DKR

But we're all in agreement that it's not as bad as 'City of Crime' right? :O

to be honest i dont know i didnt read city of crime tee hee

It's no-where near DKR in art or story terms, but its still better than most of whats out there. I found it really interesting, especially the way the government had turned the superhero's into waste, a by-product of an era gone by...

thats kind of cliche though, like i have heard that plot many times i wanted something kind of different.

Oh god, don't read it... Burn your retinas out to avoid it... Seriously...

I own City of Crime and lent it out to 2 of my friends and they both liked it. I haven't read it yet so I won't pass judgement

There were very very few elements I liked that were somewhat promising, but it's all diluted by the crapfest that is the rest of it. That's just my opinion though and usually my opinion sucks.

Those two friends are lying to you and obviously hate you with a burning passion.

Who are you gonna trust, two of your closest, oldest friends, or the random guy you just met on the internet?
