Why do they keep giving this guy money?

Lord, I get you don't like him but you sound like you want him severely punished.

Shareholders didn't make those decisions. They trust in the execs they vote in. Someone very high up is protecting Snyder. He's like that rich kid who never applies himself to anything because he has his parents money to play with.

So he's like Johnny Manziel?

You tell me. No other director that I know of has a record like this with this kind of money and keeps getting more to play with. Savvy?

I don't want him punished, I just don't get why they would put this level of trust in someone who is, at best, inconsistent.

What's the sweet spot of money this has to hit to keep moving forward with JL, but get rid of Snyder?

I'd imagine he's really good at negotiating. Snyder managed to get Ben onboard to play Batman even after he swore off Superhero movies.

Dawn of the Dead (Universal) - Budget: $26 million / BO: $102,356,381

300 - Budget: $65 million / BO: $456,068,181

Watchmen - Budget: $130 million / BO: $185,258,983

Legend of the Guardians - Budget: $80 million / BO: $140,073,390

Sucker Punch - Budget: $82 million / BO: $89,792,502

Man of Steel - Budget: $225 million / BO: $668,045,518

Make it a character film. Focus on Superman and Clark instead of special effects. I'm not thinking Deadpool's budget, but, you know, somewhere in the 120M range. Keep it as low as possible.
This may sound sacrilegious, but I'd almost consider toning Superman's power set down a notch.

I'd approach the physics of Superman like the Fleischer cartoon. You really get a sense of weight in the way he moves. Closer to Hercules and Samson.

Because of his talent and unlike the Wachowskis, he hasn't lost SERIOUS money for them like they have.

He's basically been in the middle between Eastwood, Nolan, and Affleck results vs the Wachowskis.

Ben always wanted to be Batman. Giving him some creative control of the character plus a big check is all it took from WB

I heard great things about Cloud Atlas though, it was only after Jupiter Ascending that people went to saying they haven't made a good film since matrix 1 again.

When your critical peak is a remake of a horror movie classic what even is your life/career?

Eastwood, Nolan and Affleck won WB big box offices, awards and critical acclaim. So they're allowed missteps here and there. Snyder has lost WB serious money

uhm.......John Carpenter's best film was arguably The Thing, a remake of a horror movie classic.

300 did for Snyder. MAN OF STEEL kept the train going.

You can't compare those two at all really. One is a moderately successful one-off and the other is a genre changing blockbuster trilogy.

Not like the Wachowskis, he hasn't. Not even close. Look, I love SPEED RACER and greatly admire ASCENDING both those two and ATLAS lost serious money IN A ROW. MAN OF STEEL stopped the bleeding for Snyder.

This one kind of does the same thing.

It's no skin off my back, but I see no way they can continue with snyder, even if BvS makes a profit. Most either don't like BvS, or, are indifferent to it, or, outright hate it.
The anticipation for JL, once they find out snyder is directing it, will be very low.
It's a no win.

The BO doesn't lie. If it had any goodwill, it would be doing great right now, not limping along.
