That $81M Friday opening day number tho...

Could you imagine the Box Office of this film if BvS had great word of mouth?

That's how you break down profit. Studios don't get 100% of BO returns

It still made 456mil. Even if it was 130. How in black baby jesus name did you git that profit number?

I'm guessing you don't know how BO profit is calculated. Look it up. I've explained too many times.

Remember that the cinema chains take a massive chunk of a movie's ticket sales. DotD did not make 456 mil for the company that produced it. That profit is shared out among multiple companies.

What? maybe you guys are looking at the wrong information because you're on the phone.

300's budget was 65 million. It made 456 million. You can triple the production budget and it still made a TON of money.

Looking at his numbers: You double the production budget to account for marketing. The studio takes half of the domestic gross, and a third of the international gross. That gets you $130 million spent and $195 million earned.

It earned 456 million....

That right there is the most frustrating part about all of this.

Most people a DYING for a DC Cinematic Universe (including myself). The opening weekend numbers are proof of that. Yeah, Marvel is dominating right now, but it definitely isn't because of lack of interest towards DC.

WB keeps producing garbage on the silver screen for DC characters aside from Nolan's Batman. THAT'S why Marvel is doing laps around DC at the moment.

Are you being deliberately obtuse? You haven't factored the marketing budget in, and the production company DONT GET 100% OF THE PROFIT.

Yeah, $211 million domestic and $245 million foreign. So $105.5 million goes to the studio from the domestic gross, and $81.7 million from the foreign gross. That's about $187 million earned. Now double the $65 million budget to account for marketing, and you have $130 million spent. So the movie made about $57 million.

A moderate success IMO

I doubled the production budget. sooooo 130 right like BvS took 400 mil to make and needs 800 to break even.

So 300 needed 130 to break even. It made 456. 456 -130 = 326.

It made a profit of 326. Triple its production cost. I might be wrong. But how many movies do that? It's like your trying to say i'm crazy when i'm looking at the numbers. This ain't Shutter Island.

You're missing a number chief. $65 production + $65 marketing = $130. Double that. You have $260 mil to break even. But most of the BO take from 300 was international and the studio only sees about 35% of that.

The theaters get a % of the gross is what you are missing. It has been explained already and the math done for you

What are the predictions for tomorrow's numbers?

Simple reminder....if you want to discuss everything EXCEPT the Box Office for BATMAN V SUPERMAN.....then go to the thread that covers the stuff you want to discuss.

I can guarantee it will make $6 tomorrow because I'm going to see it. ;)

Ugh. A reported $15 million this Friday. Looks like it might not even break 60million this weekend.... I'm not even sure 900million is a safe bet...

Also and as someone said the massive opening weekend proves their is high interest in these DC films so WB is not going to just dump the DCEU.

Yeah props to the WB marketing team for ensuring that high global opening weekend number.

It might crawl its way to $900m, but $1B is well and truly gone. There are literally hundreds of millions of dollars WB has lost with this movie.

Lol at C Lee's constant reminders to discuss the BO. He must be so fed up.
